I cant wait for Sat night, killing me the season started last night but Canes dont pklay til Saturday. The top 9 of this team is very Leafs like, but not as talented at the top, no Matthews at all. But we do have a better D, I think. I feel like Carolina is the poor mans Leafs, kind of the same roster, with deeper D, but no lottery win for a Matthews. It cant just be me, where suddenly this franchise has become a solid #2 on my list. I mean, they ran the exp draft with true smarts, they drafted well, made some smart side moves, their social media presence is great and now with everything that happened in Las Vegas, they have truly stepped up and done right by the city. They have become my 2nd must watch team in the league. (ok, maybe 3rd after the Leafs, those bastards are fun to watch!) Link to post Share on other sites

Worst case is that you lose some games without having your best lineup out there, and apart from alienating some fans, this isnt a big deal to me. TANK! Im not suggesting everything was done perfectly (no way to do that, since you never know what trade partners/trade queries may arise), but I thought overall they did a great job. I would agree, the pickings were much better than before, and I wouldnt even just talk about those 2. Depends on how you look at it. Neal isnt that great anymore, (these first 2 games notwithstanding!) and he is a UFA, so his value really is only as a rental sell off. If he plays like this though, they could get a really nice future asset. Fleury is still very good, but I feel like some very good gtd were made available in past expansion drafts. I could be wrong. For me, its the quality of the team as a team. Sum of its parts kind of thing. The depth is so much better than past exp teams, and Im so impressed with the 2nd/3rd liners they have, and the 3-6D they play. Way better than any exp team I recall, and frankly, no different than what a Col/Van type throws out there. I would argue LVK might be better! lol Link to post Share on other sites

BUT, if I choose to always look at the long term/big picture, its not bad at all. And if those 3 guys get called up next week, really, who will remember these first 10 days in a few months?
