Off Topic, Kinda.....

Recommended Posts

i looked into it briefly during the election and one point I read about was that yes in some areas cost go up but at the same time spending goes up as well. On some instances companies will have higher revenue due to people having more income and their employees will work harder due to the increase in pay which can result in more sales/production.

Pretty sure CA is increasing their min wage to the earlier proposed $15. Someone here said all the businesses will close if Bernie had his way so I'll be curiois to see.

Some lighthearted talk here plus this will make sure that I can read this again sometime as it's a good story, at least for me. If it wasnt for posting all those apartment stories I would forget almos

I debated posting this, because I might be overdoing this topic this week, but I made a sort of personal promise to myself that I am going to promote more positivity and try to never be negative or pu

Danny.... Thats a great attitude to have, and you will be amazed at the progress Owen can make with that kind of attitude and persistence on your part. On Feb 4, 2003, the diagnosis I got was that

Getting a raise will not make someone work harder or better for doing the same job they were doing before the raise.

Low wage earners getting a small increase of money each month will have a smaller impact on that persons daily life compared to a lump sum once per year. For example, an extra $40 per week pre-tax will not be noticed after the first month or two compared to $2080 in a lump sum every March.

Giving someone who's already living well below the poverty line a small increase in pay will not all of a sudden make them better with money or allow them to transition off of subsidies thereby increasing that persons self-esteem.

Any increase costs for businesses are eventually passed onto the consumer making all consumer goods more expensive thereby nullifying the wage increase.

Having said all that, it's an overall net positive for local economies when more people spend money.

You might not get much more from your current employees but they did see that the pool of new hires were a higher quality due to the increased pay.

Most of the article though was referring to manufacturing as opposed to food/retail.

the Australian Dollar and Canadian Dollar are basically at par. Australia has a very high minimum wage of $17.70 per hour but with many exceptions for teenagers and experience in some types of industries. For example the minimum wage for an 18 year old is $12.09 and for a 17 year old $10.23.

Here are the prices at McDonalds there and remember that Australia doesn't have higher prices on Dairy and Poultry like Canada because of supply management.

Big Mac meal is $10.55 before tax.

Was with some friends from Australia in Vegas last week.

They marvelled at how cheap cigarettes were in US. $5 USD for some.

I mentioned that in Canada, probably like $15CDN. (turns out its 12ish, I didnt know)

Cost in Australia? $30, soon to hit $40 a pack.

I think its great, and I wish Canada would copy it.

(Ya ya, illegal market would heat up. So what)

I don't know the science so Im no expert. The crime problem is so complex, I can't imagine there being one main reason.

love their burgers, and they are really filling. add the fries order that always comes double, and Im rarely hungry for hours after. Add a milkshake, and ya, explosion. Never had a shake there though.

I have heard though that the milkshakes are really good, and I think my sis said they have some really great one, salted caramel something I think?

Have you guys ever had a bad milkshake? Maybe I have but I don't know if I've had a milkshake that is like head and shoulders above 99% of all other milkshakes. All are delicious. And over priced.

Five Guys burgers rule. Fries are solid with the Cajun spice. Peanuts are addictive. I had a hot dog once. It was great but too pricey for a pretty simple dog. I'll pay the premium for a good burger not a hot dog.

Do you guys get the burger (2 parties) or little burger (1 patty). Last time I got two little burgers and no fries. Probably the only time I had been in a year or so.

yeah there are no bad milkshakes imo.

I always get the burger (2 patties), and 1 order of fries to split between me and my wife. Probably been over a year since I went there actually, might go today...

I order the same, with my son though. He devours the fries, which is good, cause if left to me, I would eat each one. Addictive.

I've never had anything but the 2patty burger, I dont go more than 3? times a year, and I dont want to waste it on anything but the ideal burger. Sorry Z, ordering a hot dog seems like blasphemy.

I feel like I had a bad shake once, and it was McDonalds. I used to love their milkshakes as a kid, and had a craving for one a few years back, and it was just tasteless and gross at the same time. Easy to put down and throw away.

Normally I just get a little cheeseburger. No fries. I like Ruffles with my burger. If my wife is getting done then we get fries bc she wants them.

Last night though I got the 2 pattie burger and a chocolate shake. It was good.

For me, Mcdonald's milk shakes are like Little Caesar's pizza. It's the worst of all the milkshake/pizza options, but the worst milkshake/pizza is still better than 90% of all non pizza/milkshake foods.

I don't think I've eve had Little Caesars.

But I know what you mean. I consider Pizza Pizza one of the worst pizzas, and yet, Ive been known to down a few slices when people order them for kids parties that I'm at.
