I sorta understand it for updates on something like the WSOP to quickly let your friends know how you are doing, but other that certain scenarios like that why do we need to know when Paris Hilton takes a dump? Bill Simmons and Dan Lebatard crack me up. It's a particularly good medium for comedians to make zingers and 1 liners. 2) some posters are unintentionally funny. Chad Ochocinco and many other athletes and stars . I'm about as anti-Twitter as you can bet because I agree that hearing some celebrity say how sad they are about Michael Jackson dying isn't really going to affect my day, but my organization (small business counseling) uses it to send out resources, links, articles, tips, etc. to our clients that follow us. In general, I think it's a fascinating little communications medium. I have to say, it was perfect for the day MJ died. Watching all the different people's crazy reactions ( Chad OchoCinco's being my favorite) was just fantastic. There are a lot of boring tweets, don't get my wrong, but I think it does have a purpose and I'm always facinated in general when new media pop up. A little tip though, if you do start tweeting, go head and skip putting poker players on your twitter, because there's a 5th purpose of twitter I've discovered...5) bad beat stories. I had it as a signature on that 4 bet bluff forum, but I got locked out of that for inactivity. If you me, more philosophically, how could I not make keeping a memento, of my favorite day on the internet, well.. I guess I'm just incredibly unsentimental.
