Well my first thought when I get in an argument with you OT guys is just to stop posting and forget about it. Even when I know I'm most likely going to get owned.

 

But now since these opportunities to argue don't come up that much anymore I just say "**** it" and I go for it when I have the chance.

Ok, first of all I never said or implied that me shoving all in was some kind of moral stand. It's something I've done in rebuy events for the last 20 years for various reasons. It wasn't a "good play" but in this scenario it wasn't that bad of a play either. Well over 90% of the time I'm going to steal the blinds, and when called, I should have about a 35% of doubling up to my starting stack and can mentally regroup from there. The other option is that I bust, get to cool off and go take a break for several hours and come back later with a renewed focus on winning the event.

 

I'm not claiming this is optimal play, I'm not claiming its brilliant, but at the time I decided that I either wanted to double up or go take an extended break. This is inline with the strategy I was already employing in the tournament, and one I've commonly gone to in rebuy events. When I came second in the $25k in Monte Carlo, I basically did the exact same thing. I had a bad table draw, so I shipped it light with a draw hoping to either double up or get a new table draw. I busted, got a new table draw, then won a million US dollars.

I'm a recreational player who loves playing in poker tournaments, and concerning this partiicular rule I don't care either way. I read Neil Johnson's reasoning for the change of rules in his blog entry - http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/2013/opinion-the-case-for-and-against-the-fir-139499.html - but I'm not convinced that the new rule was necessary.

 

But frankly, I think that both rules are unnecessarily complicated. Wouldn't the rule be much less open to interpretation if it said that dealers deal cards only to players actually sitting at the table (and thus ready to play) at the moment they are to be dealt their first card? Why first deal the cards and then declare the hand dead?

In cash games in a casino, if a player is not in his seat, the dealer does not deal out cards to a chipstack without a player behind it. Why should it be different in tournaments?

I listened to your (DN's) first rant on this subject. I think I have the jist of it, sir; you do not like this rule, and how dare they place in a new rule or modify any of them without consulting your highness and other gods of poker like you, first. Sorry MR N, only now you have gone to describing "other players" generally and distanced yourself from "those of you who are high rollers" (paraphrasing, sorry) in your first posted rant. The one you opined in that top tier customers like you should be, basically, placed above mere mortal players and be first consulted with, before any rules that affect you are put into place. LMAO. Sure, how dare DN not be allowed to hold up a game if he decides to walk away from the table to sign a fans tee-shirt during the game and the table has to wait on him. Come down off the horse a minute, will you? You sounded like an incredible snob, IMHO.

 

So, you then decide to push it as far as you can deliberately (come on DN, who you think you are kidding? Like you did not do this on purpose? Please!) and get smacked for it. Then it's down to the old reliable "take my ball and go home", drawing attention to how unfair this rule is. Despite acknowledging a clear part of the rule that leaves judgement to the house, you still whine on about it worse than Phil Hellmuth getting beat by a lesser hand. Nice try, yet I am not buying this. You knew what it could mean, yet you basically stuck your tongue out at the teacher while her back was turned and got caught. Now you cry how unfair. Then the "little people" playing get sick of the stupid crap, complain and BAM! New rule. I am certainly not accusing DN of this cheap tactic, however, you cannot be placed above others in the game just because your absence might be legit.

 

Maybe the reason you and other players were not first consulted, was that the players are not in charge of running the game - the house is. Sorry, DN, but someone has to have authority and make the call on the rules as well just what the rules are and where they will come from. Stunning that they would not consult the great DN first as it may be, let me clue you in on something; you nor I run the damn game or decide on any rules whatsoever. In other words, stay in your own pay grade, because in this case, it isn't a democracy.

 

Honestly, I am surprised you can sit at a table with only one chair, Daniel. You need at least two more; one for your ego and another for your pacifier. A world class successful player such as you, unable to contend with having to be at the table on the first card dealt out and having to follow the rules like the rest of the players. I really feel for the dealer in this created debacle of yours. I mean, I hope to God she doesn't get reprimanded or worse because of your silly fake-as-can-get rebellious attempt to put yourself above all others. I only know one thing; as of yet, I have not heard anyone else crying about this as much, if at all, as you.

Negreanu Doubles Through Schemion; Takes Commanding Chip Lead

 

Joni Jouhkimainen opened to 54,000 from the cutoff and Ole Schemion called from the button. Daniel Negreanu looked at his cards in the small blind and then announced a three-bet to 162,000. Action folded back to Jouhkimainen who mucked his cards. Schemion called and the two took a flop.

 

After seeing fall, Negreanu continued out for 200,000. Schemion made it 430,000 to go and Negreanu sat back in his seat. A moment passed.

 

"I'm all in," Negreanu said with a wave of his wrist.

"Call," said Schemion quietly.

 

Everyone at the table perked up at the sight of this action. Negreanu showed for top set while Schemion tabled for a diamond flush draw.

 

"Ooh boy!" said Negreanu popping out of his seat. "Hold 'em!"

 

The turn brought the and the river the , allowing Negreanu to finish with tens full of kings and double up huge. Negreanu was all in for 1.386 million and was able to double to around 3.15 million. Schemion dropped to around 650,000.

The TDA had an open meeting for all to discuss rule changes, especially opened to the players. You did not attend it. Even tho the rule is not a good one, you should abide by it until it is changed. Go to the next meeting to voice your concerns and change it there. Please do not whine about it here as it makes you look bad.

The TDA had an open meeting for all to discuss rule changes, especially opened to the players. You did not attend it. Even tho the rule is not a good one, you should abide by it until it is changed. Go to the next meeting to voice your concerns and change it there. Please do not whine about it here as it makes you look bad.

 

Kind of hard for any of the big money tourney players to attend the TDA conference when it's scheduled for exactly the same days as the Big One For One Drop. They are busy playing the WSOP and they shouldn't be expected to focus on what the bureaucrats who administer tournaments are going to decide is best for their customers.
