No, I have not visited it. As far as I can tell, the experience of getting to a Coyotes game for the vast majority of the Greater Phoenix Area seems to be comparable to that of getting to a Sens game, but on a larger, far more annoying scale. The rink here is on the far West side of the city, in a town formerly known as Kanata. It has about 85k people there, and is basically just all suburbs and shopping centres. At night, I can get from the middle of downtown to the rink in about 25 minutes (I play most of my Men's games at the Sens practice off the same exit as Scotiabank Place. However, to get there on game night, you need to deal with rush hour, and of course, the extra traffic from 20,000 people driving to Kanata for the game. There's one way to get there, and one way to get away from there. After the games, there's no traffic dispersion, it all goes back East towards Ottawa. It's all an annoying experience. There are, of course, buses, which I've taken to using in my recent trips out there, but they're packed for the games, and also annoying.I imagine Phoenix is a lot like that, but on a bigger scale, thus multiplying my theoretical annoyance exponentially.I feel places like Sunrise, FL suffer from the same issues as Ottawa and Glendale. It makes it far more difficult for a huge portion of the market to just kinda decide to hit up a game on a whim.I obviously don't have any empirical data for this, but I suspect that markets with downtown arenas draw far more casual fans that cities with suburban rinks, based on the density of the population of which to draw from downtown, and also the ease of commuting from radial suburbs (as opposed to having all traffic go to/come from one direction. Likewise, there are typically far more options for public transit to and from downtown rinks. There are of course other issues, land cost is probably cheaper in the suburbs, property taxes, whatever, so there'd be a trade off, I imagine.I just hate when people rip on most of these southern markets for not selling out every game, even in the playoffs (which the Coyotes DID on the night Duane was questioning), when the teams have a litany of issues that aren't just as simple as saying "move the team to Canada".My biggest contention is that there are only a handful of North American markets where teams will unconditionally sell out major sports teams anyways. Winning is the number one condition for the smaller, medium markets. And not just one playoff series, a year or two of actually having a chance to win. Look at Nashville, for example, 7 or 8 playoff seasons in a row, and they've had some of the best crowds in hockey the past few seasons. (Also, their arena is located in the CBD.)I wonder if someone would give me a grant to research this... I do have an Econ degree, lol.

have you really visited glendale before? I've never been, probably never will. only 225k people and it's home to two major league sport franchises?
Is the other one football?I think that sport/game day atmosphere lends itself a lot more to a suburban arena model, fwiw.

It's possible my above analysis doesn't apply to the Phoenix area, because it appears to be one giant sprawling suburban wasteland with a pretty small downtown concentration, like a lot of southern US cities which boomed in the latter half of the 20th century.

Yeah, that's actually pretty typical, the Buffalo Bills play about 20 minutes outside Buffalo in Orchard Park. Glendale is about the same 20-25 minutes away from the Phoenix city center.

A bet on Nashville to win the Cup right now would be a good bet imo.
Thats incredible, cause I was thinking the exact same thing now. I want to see what the odds are for them to win the series, and the Cup.Ive also been wondering if it would be profitable to lay bets on 2/3/4 teams that you really like, after every loss or two. The way the lines fluctuate so drastically, one day a team is 13-1, next day 5-1. I feel like I should keep betting Nashville+St.Louis right now. (But I already have a big bet on LA)

I was just pointing out that you could a stub hub ticket for Round2-Game1 for <=$25 [whereas Round1-Game7 (in NY) were going for ~$325].The arena in Phoenix (and the one in New Jersey) are proof with a 'less hardcore' market sports are about location, location, location. I don't agree w/ taxpayers funding the entire construction costs of an arena (too easy for them to be caught holding a while elephant) but funding the delta / chipping in to get a central location would be smart...

Phoenix hockey fans are the smartest in the league..Dont give a shit about the regular season and just go nuts in the playoffs. For a non observer you would think Phoenix was the centre of hockey watching that game last night. The question that has been asked, if Phoenix wins the Cup, does Gary Bettman present the Cup to himself?

This pretty much sums up about 95% of the Sen fans in Ottawa. Biggest posers ever.
The regular season is all some fans have.

my guess this also has something to do with their recent play, and their rather selfish approach to the last couple of games.shocking would be if Rinne was suspended. With these guys....reads like an excuse to sit a guy you were dying to do so anyway.wasnt Radulov the guy who swung a stick at his coach? I wonder he was even sat a shift for that in the KHL. Ill be suprised if he's in Nashville next year, and he probably will even end up in KHL again.

Rules are rules. It's a playoff game, and they were out past curfew. Does that really suggest they're motivated to play? Good for the team for having morals.
