I Called In Sick Today

sry spdz. god damnit, did I tell you guys about that plan management here had to move me to another position that I don't want and without asking me? well I had a few people tell me that they got so much pushback from other groups on how stupid that was that they gave up on it. well now I just got word that it's back on and happening soon. son of a bitch. seriously though, am I making too much of this? I mean technically it's a promotion with a little more money (though in actuality less since I won't get overtime anymore and my overtime is more than any raise they would give) and they're all trying to build it up as "good experience," but shit, it's taking me off the career path I've been working towards for five years, plus it'll also keep me from being able to post out for other internal jobs I may want for two years. plus, I mean, I feel like it's pretty damn disrespectful. am I being stupid here? do other companies do stuff like this?

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

nope. my manager, my manager's manager, the manager of the department I want to go to, my hr rep, hell even the manager of the team I'm getting forced onto ALL told the higher ups that it's a shit idea, saying basically what I've said here (not my career path, disrespectful, etc.). they apparently don't care.

all these damn banks have these huge buildings in the cities I want to live in, then I search their job openings in those cities and there's like 3 positions. what sense does that make? by the way, since I found out about the reintroduction of my move this morning, I have done nothing but search for new jobs. I'm fucking pissed. I don't think you're crazy brv.

Is it just me, or between the Mel Gibson rants and the last three pages in here, has brvheart's dementia really gone downhill recently.
he's always been insane to me.

Thats just.....odd. Especially that they'd do it without at least running it by you to gauge your interest. Why would it take you out of the internal posting poolfor 2 years? Is it a special project kind of thing? Have you heard why they want you on that team so badly? Maybe they have bigger plans for you than yourealize now and this would give you the opportunity to learn a different department? Trying to find some lemonade in your lemons here...

the two years thing is company policy: accept a new position, get moved, change titles, whatever, you can't post out again for two years. only exception is if you're recruited. and the weird thing is is that I was chosen BECAUSE I was one of the standout people here who busted ass and got noticed. from what I've been told, they couldn't find any qualified candidates for the position, internal or external, so that's why I'm being moved without being asked.

If you wanna send me the PowerPoint file with all the slides I could probably hook it up for you and send it back. Do you have my email?
This made me laugh, since last semester, I tried to email a 10 slide presentation and google said, "no."500 slides is a lot.

sigh. I wasn't defending Mel Gibson. At all. I think he's a looney toon.

Thanks, buddy. Move to Iowa. We have tons of insurance companies and banks with lots of jobs available. 4% unemployment for college grads.Your current company sucks.

Are you doing that on your work computer? My manager would have one and talked to me if I did that because IT flags any clicks on the career sections of websites and shit. Edit: feel free to ignore the next paragraph as its just me ramblingSpeaking of, I had been looking at jobs with NBA teams and OKC has an opening for assistant controller and it's been open for awhile but it says "4 years experience" and so I was hesitant to apply even though I think I'm qualified based off the job description. Well, I saw something randomly on reddit where people say to just disregard that so I looked back into it and turns out there's only like 4 people in the entire department, so now I'm not sure if I'd even want to do that as I'm not sure if it would be a better career choice than going into public accounting.

Your company really does sound godawful.
this
Maybe they have bigger plans for you than you
Hahaha, no. With what he makes, they just enjoy slave laborAnd banks aren't hiring because they are cutting costs like crazy. If you relocate and find a new job, I'll envy you. New starts are always cool

So take it directly to the idiot who's making the decision.

Yeah, I think it's time to tell the decision making idiot that you'll do it, but only for a substantial pay raise, and if they try to move you against your will without said substantial pay raise, you're out of there. Which is quite easy for me to say.

yeah, work computer. I had been "testing the waters" recently, looking at career sections that I could say "I'm looking for a friend!" on, and nothing came of it, so either they don't check for it, or they don't care. and considering 90% of the other employees are in pretty much the same situation I am, I'd have to imaging at least 50% of employee time is spent on job boards anyways, so they're probably used to it.
Hahaha, no.
hahahaha, this killed me. perfect delivery. true too. they don't give a shit about advancement or employee retention. there's really no possible way that they can expect to keep me long term, so they're trying to get what they can out of me for the short term. jesus, at least I hope that's what they're doing. if the powers that be really think this is a good long term employee retention strategy then... fuck. they're dumb.

yeah, the one's who are "making the decisions," or really brokering the deal as it's between major departments, are high enough to fire me on the spot and not care (sort of like a bank president). but as to the second point, I've decide that's pretty much what I'm going to do. whenever the time comes, I'm going to bring up salary like I'm expecting a huge bump, and when they trot out the $1k bullshit I'll just say "yeah, no, that's not going to work." see what happens. if they say take or gtfo, I'll take it, do the bare minimum, and put in about 30 applications a day elsewhere.

NOT YOUR FAULT BROSEF. its just there is no advice for that situation. it's like in shawshank when boggs tells andy he's gonna open his fly and andy's gonna swallow what boggs gives him to swallow. you can tell them you'll bite their dicks off, but they're still going to beat you within an inch of your life.edit: and they can always butt rape you later.

So I was performing a necropsy on a cat today, and while I was cutting out the pluck (tongue, trachea, esophagus, heart, and lungs), a fly started crawling out of the esophagus. Speedz, that must have been the scariest thing you saw all day! NOPE. It was when I opened up the neck of a red-tailed hawk, accidentally cutting right into the crop, and a pile of half-digested mice tumbled out.

What's a crop? Why are you dissecting cats and birds? How did you get a hawk? How did it die?It all seems weird. I thought you did this in school but I suppose the more practice on actual animals, the better. You must have stinky fingers between those animals AND having a girlfriend AND cooking with fresh garlic. (I don't know that you've used fresh garlic recently but out really stays on your fingers when you peel and chop it. Maybe I'm just projecting on that last one.

Stainless steel. If you rub your hands on stainless steel (they make a bar for this, I use a knife I have who's handle is stainless) it makes the garlic smell go away.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel_soap

It's this pouch thing off the esophagus that starts the digestion process and stores stuff until it can go to the stomach. Birds have them, possibly reptiles too, I don't remember.I'm on the clinical pathology rotation. Looking at bloodwork in the morning, doing autopsy stuff in the afternoon. There's a wildlife center on campus. This hawk came in with head trauma, they euthanized it after 10 days when it kept getting worse. When I opened up the skull there was a big ugly lesion on the brain.

I saw The Limey, Joey. Basic Steven Soderbergh. I don't think I would ever want to see it again, but it was a solid 6.5/10. Up next, Hannah.
