This commenter was so close to getting it:Hackman. The name says it all really doesn’t it? Another unqualified thinker, let alone commentator.Stugotz would definitely annoy me in real life. He would probably annoy me in twitter life if I followed him. He sometimes annoys me in radio life.Dan's bias was starting to show through when he tried to defend Lebron's errant pass at the end of the all-star game. He kept framing the argument as making the smart play versus jacking up a 30 footer with a double team. I'm not really sure he totally understands basketball. I mean, he understands certain aspects of it a lot better than a lot of people because he can be analytical and absorb what he reads and hears, but I don't really trust him when he's just going on what he's watching.

Much like with Christianity, someday after I'm dead, when people are forming a religion around me, there will be a big split between those who don't believe in the literal divinity of my lifestyle and

God I love that Incognito song.

Barkley said Lebron made the right play also. (Besides the bad pass that was stolen)

I don't even know how what you said makes any sense. We're specifically talking about the bad pass that was stolen.

I'm saying that Barkley was defending his decision to pass in that spot, not the execution of the pass. You said that Dan was wrong because it was bad execution and a bad decision, and I was just commenting on the fact that Barkley said the same thing as Dan. Unless dan was defending Lebron's execution, but I can't imagine anyone would do that.

he was double teamed (hehe) so he should've passed. only he hesitated, then tried a difficult cross court pass that obviously failed. correct decision wrong execution.edit: dammit

No, that was not a double team. That was Durant being in position to help. If he turns the corner on Kobe and forces Durant to commit, then Carmelo is even more open than he already was. Or maybe even Dwight under the basket.Brv, that's not what I was saying. I didn't like that he was framing it as an either/or situation. He always calls out people who do that and wonder why there aren't other options in between. Lebron had other options besides shooting a 30 footer or passing immediately.

Namely? People just want to kill Lebron. I watched LBJ's 48 Special vs Detroit live, and after that, everyone thought he was a stone cold killer. He was. It's all just bs bluster narrative. He did shrink in the finals, sure, but the guy just isn't wired to be a ball hog. Kobe gets praised for averaging 30 a game but nobody mentions his efficiency, or lack thereof. 80% of the guys in the league average 25ppg if they get to jack up 25 shots a game.

Fine, 50%Plenty of talent, not enough shots.
Well, let's get more specific. 1 point per field goal attempt is pretty awful. Kobe averages 25 ppg on 19.5 fga for his career. So I'm really commenting on your idea that anybody could be Kobe if they just got the shots, not specifically your 25 points on 25 shots. Also, it takes talent to get shots. What kind of shots do you think a guy like Steve Kerr would be getting if he had to get off 25 a game? So a guy who is scoring 1.4 points per shot might be more efficient, but his efficiency is going to go down if he has to start taking more shots.Edit: I didn't really want this to be another Kobe vs. Lebron argument. I was just talking about Dan's analysis of the situation.

And another thing, while you guys have got me going...saying that Lebron's decision to pass was good, but the execution was bad is a totally meaningless statement. You don't apply the same reasoning to a guy who takes a bad shot. "It was a good decision to shoot, but he just should've taken a better shot."

i mean i dont follow that at all. a good decision is a good decision no matter the outcome. if we're swinging the ball and a guy makes the extra pass to the wide open guy in the corner but he throws it out of bounds, the decision was still correct - his execution was just off. if a guy takes a good shot, then he's taken a good shot. if he makes it great, if he doesnt at least it was a good shot.a bad shot cannot come because of a good decision. not in the way we're using the phrase. a bad shot is taking a contested three with 20 on the clock when a guy is wide open on the wing. if it goes in, it's still a bad shot. i may have rambled at the end there.

See, you agree with me. You don't judge the decision solely on "pass or shoot?" You decide whether the decision to make the specific pass that he made was a good one. It was not. That pass had zero chance of getting through. If he passed it to an open Carmelo next to him at the top of the key, I would not be saying it was a bad decision.

I think everyone agreed with Suited. It was my assumption this entire time that you were against passing in that spot. That's how you framed it. Everyone thinks he made a bad pass. You are saying that his decision to make that particular cross court pass at that exact speed, and at that exact time, with the defenders in their exact positions, was a poor decision, and I fully agree with you. He should have executed his decision earlier and faster and beat the steal.

Christ that is so dumb. the sports media attracts the lowest common denominator. I'm not sure which is funnier, that the guy was wholly unable to detect the humor/irony of what stugotz/hochman said, or that he's so delusional about the importance and power of sports media, that he thinks what Hoch/stugotz said can in some way effect game results.

Goodness. Hilarious. $100 says Rose has never even heard of them or their comments. I'm embarrassed for that writer. Or is he actually a smart guy that has to pander for clicks and eyeballs just to keep his job, and what better way than civic pride? It's what makes soccer popular in this country.

Tweet from Dan just now (first since 11 hours ago, not in reply to anyone):Dan LeBatard Show ‏ @LeBatardShow1) because Don Shula summoned me to his office to not shake my hand many years ago and 2) so it sees lightDid I miss something? Also, Dan is genius with who he retweets about criticisms of his show. It's just nothing but huge douchebags. It's like in a job interview when you say "I work too hard" to the question about what your faults are. Also, "the big voice says filthy things" is going to be a great tournament.

I mean, certainly he's responding to someone. So he forgot to mention them or wanted to respond, but didn't want to link to the person. But you already know that.

The first part of that is the history of why Papi hates the Dolphins and Shula. As a young reporter, Dan wrote a harsh article about the Fins. Shula summoned Dan into his office and refused to shake Dan's hand. Papi has hated them since hearing that story.

When they were doing the Least Interesting Man in the World spots, who were they talking about?
As I am here pooping, listening to yesterday's show, I heard one about Stugotz. They were also beating the Forte thing to death. Stugotz is the moron and Lebatard is the voice of the people. I wonder if Sugotz is playing a role
