you stat nerds make me sick, with your numbers and your percentages and your evidence.but i'd still like to see more MLB AB's before i trust a guy. but those numbers look promising.but seriously, Mikey Stanton? Awesome power right. Gonna hit 50 yacktowns at least once.
Ya, he's a right-handed Adam Dunn.

I like Stanton a lot.I think his ceiling is a Ryan Howard type. High K's but lots of bombs to make up for it. Considering how young he is, his Power numbers are already very impressive.

i enjoyed every second of watching hanley rolling around in agony. its just a sprain, but hopefully it will linger for the rest of his career. kinda like posey's ankle will hurt for the rest of his career.

I agree. Because Hanley went out of his way to hurt Posey. Wait, what? This is an incredibly stupid post. I think you'd admit that it was poorly founded, but it was way stupider. And if you actually want one of the most talented baseball players on the planet to have a lingering injury, you are obviously an annoying homer, and not a baseball fan.

stfu mr dannyg, you have no idea how much of a fan i am.. its ingrained in every giants fans DNA to hate the marlins for several reasons.. theyre a team full of punks and their best player hanley hot dogs it every game. and he'll be fine. just a sprain. too bad he is a punk and will never live up to his full potential.

I cannot imagine why San Francisco fans would hate the Marlins, other then for Posey. In fact, I can't imagine anyone hating the hapless Marlins. The many natural rivals for the Giants makes your suggestion even more questionable. I'm reasonable certain that you are a huge fan of the Giants in the same way that dogmatic religious types are fans of god, or the security guard in my building with parkinson's is a fan of shaking. You get full points for proper use of "they're" and "their" in the same sentence.

SF fans (supposedly) hate the Marlins because the Marlins knocked them out of the playoffs twice in the Wild Card Round, in 1997 and 2003. And they are a team full of punks because the 25th guy on our roster accidentally broke Buster Posey's leg on a play the MLB ruled to be perfectly clean. Yeah, I don't get either part.

hanley has proven himself to be a piece of garbage on and off the field. a hot dogging cocky kid with a HUGE amount of talent (its unreal) that he will never live up to. i do regret saying i hope he is perma inured and im sorry. another reason the marlins are sad is the have about 12 fans. even though they're a talented team. ANOTHER reason is they do such a great job scouting, farm system, etc.. then have a fire sale of every talented player after a decent season or a WS. hanley will be fine, posey will have lingering problems for years to come.and i dont care that he was a 25th player on your team or hanley, launch yourself into a catcher is a bush league play and thats what the marlins teach. i know i said the hit was clean originally, but the more i think about it and the more i watch it, the worse it gets. posey left a clear lane to the plate and the marlin came in, diving like james harrison from the steelers. i hope we go head hunting this month when we go to FLA, like boachy indicated.

one more thing... if any of your teams best player got taken out on a play like that you would all be calling murder. i see posey as ray fosse and that marlin like pete rose, a hit that wasnt necessary all star game or regular season.

Glad you could make yourself look dumber, thanks. A few points:- the Marlins fire sale happened once. Under a different owner. Get over it.- there are a LOT of reasons to dislike the Marlins. Most of them rhyme with "Loria". Use those.- The Marlins do not teach hurting people. They may teach playing hard (hint: they don't, no more than any other team).- The Cousins/Posey incident is regrettable. Pretty much anyone who likes baseball hated to see a minor leaguer hurting one of the best young players in the league. That includes Marlins fans.- Hanley and Posey are unrelated. Repeat that to me. They are two very good baseball players. That is the extent of their similiarities. Something happening to one is in no way related to the other. Repeat that. Hoping Hanley gets hurt is like hoping Joe Smith, an accountant in Wichita, gets hit by a car tomorrow. It is mean and irrelevant.- You apologized for hoping Hanley gets hurt. Next paragraph, you hope they go head-hunting. Shut up.I always wondered who actually listens to brainless yelling sports radio. I guess I see where they get an audience. If anyone on the Giants does anything to purposelly hurt a Marlins player, Boachy and Sabean should be banned from baseball. Their comments have been inciteful and dangerous.

No, because I'm not an idiot. I would be annoyed, though I would look at the cause. In this case, a terrible rule that allows players to be hurt with no good reason. Maybe Cousins' play was illegal - it was certainly close. But he was trying to score and probably not trying to hurt anyone. That makes it a poor rule. The analogy to Fosse has been used elsewhere. You probably weren't alive when it happened. It is also terrible. That hit happened in an all-star game, which actually didn't matter. The Cousins hit happened in a regular season game, which does matter. The Fosse hit happened when the catcher wouldn't have expected that, because no one plays that hard in an all-star game (except Pete Rose). Posey could have expected the hit, since that type of play is not uncommon in a real game. The Fosse hit featured a superstar hurting someone who was not a star - again, the opposite of the Posey situation. So let's review - in both situations, a runner hit a catcher and the catcher was injured. In every other way, the situation was opposite. If you see the situations as similar, I suggest consulting a psychologist.

ya looking back all those posts were stupid on my part. just frustrated posey got destroyed like that.
Wow, didn't expect that. It's fair though - Posey is one of the best young players in the league. I would hate to lose him, especially to a potentially long-term injury. The annoying part is I read less than a week before his injury they were considering playing him half-time at 1B as early as 2012 to save him from injury.

yea that's the worst part that he was going to be moved to 1st for a little bit. he will make a good recovery but yeah, the potential long term injuries give me nightmares.

Looks like the Marlins have given up on Pujols, but have come to terms with Buehrle. Also rumors that they are looking to trade Hanley because he doesn't want to move to 3rd.
I think generally when it comes to sports I am far more pro-player than I am pro-media or pro-organization. But, if Hanley forces a trade, I hope he suffers a career-ending injury. They're paying you 15 million a year, dickface, and you're not Ozzie Smith at short. Move to third or center and shut the hell up. Don't you want a chance to win at all? Pujols was never going to seriously ruin his legacy in St. Louis just to live in a more Latin area. I think it's nice the Marlins tried but it would have been weird if Pujols came here. Far weirder than Lebron leaving Cleveland for the Heat.Love the Buerhle pick up. Much rather have him for 3yrs/45 mill than CJ Wilson for way more.I have decided I will reward the Marlins effort by going to at least 3 games next year.

Too expensive for Buehrle, but he is a valuable player for sure. I actually hope they do trade Hanley - if they can get some serious value for him, including a 3B, I think their team is better off. Of course, if he forces a trade, he is a dickface, but I think we've already crossed that line with him.Certainly an interesting time to be a Marlins fan. I think their strategy is going to be wildly unsuccessful, because teams just aren't built around one star, an aging reliever and a non-flashy pitcher. If Stanton and Johnson are both in the top 5 at their position over the next few years (definitely possible), then they might pull it off, but I think they are looking at a ton of downside if things don't go well. With the expensive contracts, their new FAs will be hard to move. The best trade/signing the Marlins could've done was not Reyes or Pujols, but a new owner. At the very least, a new President and a promise from the owner to sit quietly in his box. Without either of those things happening, I can't see the Marlins having a ton of success on or off the field.
