4 pointer tonight for me against Shortstackers in the Fail for Nail sweepstakes. If I lose tonight not only do I fall further behind Whalers and Ingmen but my chances for Nail become less.
Shortstackers are my 2nd favourite team in the AHL this year. I root for them to win every night.

and sorry about not having everything up to date yet contract wise. I'll be working on that the next couple days and will have it all done hopefully before the weekend but if not over the weekend for

Unlike other predictions, these are meant to insult and offend both finalists.   #1 Eddie Shack Conference vs #1 Tiger Williams Conference   Steelheads (56-25-1) +/- 167 vs Big M (52-25-5) +/-

AHL GM's European Summit 2015 was a blast! Whalers really embraced the culture....     As per tradition of trades whenever owners cross paths... Whalers and Swackers have agreed to swap .25 both

Rumour: (E3)Nail Yakupov will become the first player to ever refuse to report to an Alternative Hockey League fantasy team should the Mustangs draft him.
Our equipment manager is already making him a jersey with his name on the back. What better player for a steeltown team than a guy named Nail? Besides, Arp is going to curl up in a ball and die if I end up last overall....

It's ok pal, I think I won this time in a close one. You got assists from Smyth and Tallinder I got a goal from Ott and an assist from Weaver.
phew..Its about time i go on a long losing streak.

The programmer does enjoy sleeping in, doesn't he.
I'm trying not to complain, but Im glad you said something. For a site that "we" are paying for, it sure is rather lax and problematic with updates, and there are a lot of features that leave something to be desired. The fact that Daniel could use Okposo twice for example. He might have acted like a jerk in some ways, but what Nell did for the FCHL, no one has even come close to with the AHL.I can understand its not easy to do all this and I appreciate the many good things about the site, but there is room for improvement.

I'm going to say this politely. If you have any problems with the website talk to me. Suggestions for things that can be improved especially in the off season are welcome. Keep in mind that there is a cost for everything.Daniel spent thousands of dollars on the website and the reason that some things aren't perfect is that it costs money to pay a programmer to get everything perfect and I haven't asked Daniel to spend the money to get everything perfect. I've prioritized what is and isn't important for the resources of my time and Daniel's money.Every morning after a game the stats from the night before are uploaded to our website in the format for the progamming to handle. I then run a test of the stats to make sure that everything is okay since things like spelling have to exactly match. Then I run the the program for good and then make the manual adjustments that have to be made for things like Empty Net and SO goals and for any players that weren't in the stats that did play and also for any doubled up players since the stats package we've subscribed to this year sometimes lists a player twice.I spend about 10-15 minutes every morning after a game day.Now this morning one game wasn't uploaded to our site so I can't run the scores yet. There is no programmer invloved. There will be 2 reasons for games to not be done in the morning. One is that I haven't had the time and the other is for technical reasons.Next time you bitch about the scores not being done on time keep the above in mind.

Im sorry you took it as me/us "bitching" I will admit I didnt know you had to doublecheck the scores every morning, and I'm certainly not web savy enough to figure out why you have to.I'm sorry Daniel has to had to spend thousands of dollars on a website that doesnt run itself, or for lack of a proper term, with minimal outside management.I'm also sorry you take what we post here publicly as a personal shot at anyone, least of all you. I post it publicly, so that not only will you read it, but so would others who might come to you with the same "bitch". That way, one of us whiners complain, then the rest of us just wait to see if there is a solution that can be reasonably attained. Most of all, Im sorry that I didnt listen to my inner voice, and just not bother with expressing my unhappiness. I will accept the imperfections, and assume that Daniel+you are ok with the site as is, and would rather not hear from us.

Constructive suggestions or questions about how things are run are welcome. It's why I explained the procedure.A fully automated website would cost about the same as a luxury German automobile.Edit: Let me explain a little bit more.Swacker Dave talked to the experienced programmers at his company about trying to recreate what Nell had done and they quoted tens of thousands of dollars to do it and even then they weren't sure they would be able to. We talked to some different people and narrowed down what could be done and ended up getting Mike of Winning Combo to take on the website project on Gov's recommendation. The programmer who originally was going to do the job with Mike backed out and he had a hard time finally getting somebody to take on the project since he isn't a programmer but a web guy. They spent probably 3 times the hours on the project that the money they were paid justified. The website isn't perfect and each off season we're going to try and fix things and add new features while always keeping in mind that we can't spend an infinite amount of money.

It's okay, I've been in a foul mood all week.Yesterday I got mad at the guy who was taking my blood for a blood test about some stupid bureaucratic thing he had to do that I've never seen before which is pretty stupid on my part. A guy who is about to stick you with a needle and take your blood isn't somebody you should be getting mad at.If you made it a tennis pool I would be in but it sounds like there are a lot of others who will gladly take you up on a golf pool and enjoy it more than I would but thanks for the offer.

Bob, from whom do we get our stats?
I'm not sure of the exact name of our supplier. Mike looked at a few different ones and these guys supply our stats via FTP to our website. Each NHL game is a separate csv file and our website is programmed for the exact format that the stats that this supplier sends us.They had a problem with the Penguins game and they've told Mike they should have it fixed later tonight.

How did Nell do the stats? I always just assumed he found a way to rip it from the NHL.com game sheets or something. I can't imagine he was paying for them in any way. I don't know enough about computers anymore, but I'm certain you can run a loop to point to those sheets on specific days and pick off the correct data somehow.

I'm guessing there's a way to do it too.

he probably did screen scraping. It isn't easy to do and if the site that you choose to scrap from changes their format in any way you have to totally reprogram your site. What he did was not easy. The stats service isn't that expensive. I think around $150 for the entire season.

Ok call me stupid but why does there need to be a stats service?Again please dont take this the wrong way as its not a personal thing.Darrell has the stats updated within 15-20 minutes after the last whistle of the last game of the night. I know its been discussed that Darrell spends a ton of time that we dont expect Bob or anyone else to do.We are not asking for one person(Bob) to do this.. If everyone took turns volunteering doing this would that make things easier?Stat corrections are very rare these days and typically by the end of the game the stats are official .Again not comparing the AHL to Darrell site, but its pretty cool the site that is run.Without question we all appreciate ALL the work that Bob puts into this.
