Love this show. The best parts continue to be the stand up but that's good enough for me. Side note - His stand up movie "Hilarious" (all new material) is going to premiere on the Epix Channel (I don't know if I get it) on September 18th and will be on Comedy Central in 2011.http://www.variety.com/article/VR111802221...yid=14&cs=1

Just be thankful you had these episodes to watch now. Anyone like me who has watched roughly around the original air dates hasn't seen a new episode since Sept. 2012. Thankfully it's back again this y

really can't get over this show. yesterday's episode was so solid.
That was the best written episode of the season. Not the most hilarious but the best.

I think Louie is one of the only 5 or so standups who is actually funny...so I've been sort of shocked by how unfunny this show is. And he is obviously incredibly inexperience, and not very good at handling all the roles he's taken on with this project. But it still has the pieces to be one of the best shows on TV, and sometimes there are moments of sheer genius. This week was great. The show would probably be pretty funny and mediocre with a bunch TV writers and experienced directors, and I probably wouldn't give a shit. I think in a season or two this could be one of the couple best shows on TV.

What?!? You like Louis ck, but you don't like the show? What do you think about the 'faggot' piece at poker night? What about the recent 'smoking pot with the neighbor' bit? The 'heckler' bit? I have really enjoyed this show. While I'm sure you'll agree that not every bit can be funny (see: SNL), I think he's doing a really good job.

I don't read dutch's review as a shot at it. I mean, maybe he INTENDS to take a shot, but it seems clear that louis ck isn't trying to be funny with every moment of the show. the bully episode is a perfect example.

I didn't know that poster was dutch.I agree that not every moment is hilarity, but I'm entertained from start to finish. I don't have the expectation that I'm going to laugh non-stop, I guess we just see it differently.

Did you think it was David Skalansky?

I like the show a lot. I think Louis has some amazingly interesting thoughts and perspectives, and might have the right idea w/r/t how to make a truly great piece of art. I'm sort of floored by the way he's using his 20minutes of film every week; he makes some incredibly strange choices, which don't work about 60% of the time, and then he's out like half an episode, or left with psychotic pacing. And I'm ecstatic about it. He's directing, writing, starring in, and I assume "producing," his own show, for the first time to my knowledge. If it stays on the air, I have to assume it has a great chance of becoming one of my favorite shows ever, as he gets better. But just because it's not very funny very often (it shouldn't be imo), and is incredibly flawed, doesn't mean I don't like it. I love it. Also, I mostly hated that poker scene. I thought it was one of the major failings so far. But the length of the scene showed amazing audacity. The bully episode was brilliant. This episode was interesting. I thought his point about pedos in the opening was genius. But the show is a loose bag of great ideas and elements right now, that is fascinating, and promising, but still disappointing at times. I am very optimistic, and would still watch this show for seasons even unimproved. I don't know that it will ever be more cohesive, or if he wants it to be, but I figure some experience will help him with a better ratio of interesting stuff. Also, I really don't care about his comic friends. I don't care about how the comedy world works and how they socially interact. It's been done to death, and Nick DiPaolo needs to go away.

aww the cat
Started watching this show this week, liking it a lot.DUDE, I KNOW THAT CAT! The store where they filmed that scene was my local corner store until I moved a few months ago. It's in Brooklyn. Watching the scene you hear the cat mewing before you see it, and I was like, OMG it's gonna be the white cat! The dude behind the counter was an actor. There also used to be a white dude who sat in a chair in the corner near the register all day and talked about shit. I bought my cat food there and so he'd always ask about my cat, and I have an all-black cat so that was a talking point, compared to the store's all-white cat. There's not much to say to the half-out-of-it dude who chills in the bodega all day.Now I really wanna go back to that neighborhood and tell the owner (not the dude in the chair, the dude who's always behind the counter) that his cat is a fucking superstar. Like, the interaction Louis had with that cat was only slightly more involved than than the weekly conversations and pettings I used to have with it (with her, I think). You can tell she's a good conversationalist. Also that she was scared of the camera. Not an actress.

Seriously though, I know that cat. What are the odds!?!?
I love the follow-up.I am waiting for LG to watch the series so we can keep gushing about the cat. it was a ridiculously good random scene.

I think including animals in entertainment like that is sort of offensive, as they cannot consent, and privacy is categorically violated. It's like watching a kiddie porn, seeing a kid you know, and instead of being outraged, you are all excited about someone you know being a star.
