He seems to be pretty well off financially now considering his contract with Full Tilt.Do you think without the poker boom and promotional endorsements he received, he would have went broke with all his betting?
No, because he wouldn't have gambled like that. He never really used to gamble much at all outside of poker.

So I'm trying to make this a weekly feature on FCP and when the week is over the thread will be closed and moved to Player Profiles so you can read them whenever. Remember, keep the chit chat to a mi

That's the amazing thing about Phil. When we were younger he was the most likely to tilt because he has such a wild and aggressive style, especially in Stud. In the last five years, though, the guy ju

He's kind of has a killer mentality when it comes to gambling. He loves it, and wants to crush people. He has intense focus and drive that's hard to practice, you either got it or you don't. His weak

I met him in Atlantic City. Allen Cunningham met him first and told me and Juanda he was a good player. Then I was at a table with him once and I raised a pot and he stared at me with his mouth hanging open and I said something like, "Dude, what are you looking at man? You're scaring me." LOL.
what was his response? i'm guessing silence and dragging the pot

When and where did you first meet Phil? What stakes and game was he playing when you met?
It was a $500 buy in event at the Taj in Atlantic City I think. I think it was NLH. He knew who I was at the time, but I only knew him from what Allen Cunningham had told me. Allen said he was really good, so I paid attention and Allen was right.

Rough guesstimate on his net worth, taking into account his huge stake on FTP?
One thing you need to know about people with money. When people have a lot of money they always act like they are broke. It's those that brag regularly about how much they are worth that are usually pretty broke. If you hang around Ivey... he's always "broke" lol.

There is something about Phil Ivey's eyes. It just seems like with every glance he is picking up tons of info. Is his stare down as intimidating live as it is shown on tv? I think I've wet myself once or twice just watching.
It doesn't intimidate me, it makes me laugh actually, lol. First time he saw himself play on TV in Turning Stone I was with him. He said, "I look like a crack head," he didn't realize he did that with his eyes.

How much are you willing to lay on a bracelet bet with Phil as to who wins the Player's Championship 1st between the two of you? (P.S. will you please add Sammy Farha to the poll 4 next week - ty)
Ivey and I always have a standing bet of $200k per tournament that we both play.

What made Ivey focus so much on internet poker and did you ever discuss with him his motivation to do so?
He likes games and used to play lots of video games. He enjoys breaking people and there is a lot of money to be made online for him.

this would be a great story to hear about?
In Foxwoods way back in the day he went broke playing $75-$150 Stud. He came to me, and asked me for a loan. A huge loan for back in the day, and he told me he couldn't pay it back. He wanted me to know that before I loaned it to him. I had faith in his ability and knew he'd be alright, so I probably gave him like half of my bankroll to play with. He went to the Commerce and didn't play ANY of the tournaments. Instead, he sat in the $100-$200 Stud game every single day and played long hours, making like $4000-$5000 everyday. By the end of the month, I was paid back, and he started playing $200-$400 stud. From there, he just kept playing higher and higher until he reached the highest limits in the world.

If there was a tell you have on him what is it and why, As the new comers become more aggressive do you see that as more a challenge for Phil or more an incentive to just become a better player ?
HAHAHAHAHAHA NICE TRY!!! Like I'd ever tell! I don't think Ivey has a problem with aggressive players, he adapts well to all kinds of opponents.

What is his greatest strenght and weakness ... on a golf course?
When his putter is hot it's scary. He's actually, when practicing, really good from 100 yards in. He doesn't hit the ball long at all. His drives usually land right next to mine, it's pretty pathetic!

Was this the last time he went broke? Are you the catalyst that got him "on his way" with this loan?

Sure, but 200k is like one roll of the dice for him -- and we are talking about what will be considered the most prestigious title (at least amongst pros)Can't you all liven it up with say a one million dollar bet (must win) - I will take half your action (lol)Seriously though, I think if you could get him to lay you 1.2 to 1 you should at least bet 500k, and leave out the prop bets with you and E-dog this year. New question: Who do you think will be the 1st person to win 20 WSOP bracelets - Ivey, Hellmuth or Negreanu?

not my thread but I dont think anyone will win 20 bracelets unless poker collapses and the average wsop eventg draws 200 people again.
