It's hypocritical to bring this stuff up against McPalin and not BHO, because they are in the same boat on this issue of writing their own speeches and interview questions. That's why it's so hypocritical of him to say that against repubs, when everyone does and is doing it.For DN to talk down on the McPalin campaign for this is foolish, anyone who isn't stupid can see through what he's doing. Good thing the people DN is trying to incense won't ever vote.
Its hardly hypocritical to bring it up when up until the last day or so the McCain campaign has stated that Palin wouldn't do press conferences or give interviews. He's not talking down towards the McCain camp and ignoring it from the Obama camp he's simply stating that all we've seen of this woman is what's been written for her(Which in my mind has been a smart move by the McCain camp) lets see how she handles herself off the cuff.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong.
I suspect that just like a defense attorney will prep their witnesses on likely questions they'll get on cross-examination, I'd be surprised if Palin wasn't prepped for likely questions she'll get in these interviews. In this the Republican machine is much better than the Democrats.

Perhaps your reading ability is light years ahead of mine as you can read stuff that I can't see at all. At no point is any claim made that librals don't have speech writers or canned answers. The point as I took it is that every other candidate has done many press conferences and interviews and as of right now she hasn't (althought is expected to in the coming days)
I think I can count on less than one hand how many real press conferences Obama has done this year.

Palin team stocked with Bush veterans Jonathan MartinWed Sep 10, 1:32 PM ET With Sarah Palin facing unrelenting press scrutiny and enjoying off-the-charts excitement from voters, John McCain’s campaign is quickly moving to augment her staff and put in place an infrastructure that can address the unexpected wave of interest. This team of aides and advisers is tasked with preparing Palin for media appearances, including her first on ABC later this week, her debate against Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden early next month, pushing back against near-daily accusations from liberal activists as well as inquiries from mainstream journalists. They are also offering the sort of support provided to any vice presidential pick. Since McCain made his pick in the final days before announcing it to the public — and since many aides were not told until the night before or morning of the rollout — the campaign has been forced to hire and hastily put in place a cadre of staff to deal with the unprecedented onslaught of questions from reporters, requests from Republicans and viral Internet attacks from the left. And McCain’s campaign is not done hiring staffers to respond to the Palin deluge. Even more will be brought on in the days ahead, say aides, to respond to the flood. This new team of aides and advisers brings years of experience in Republican politics, and includes many who worked for President Bush in the White House and on his two campaigns. They will bring a similarly aggressive mindset as campaign chief Steve Schmidt, also a veteran of the disciplined Bush-Cheney effort. In this, they’ll move to get off defense, a position Palin has been in since her unexpected announcement, and try to keep her on the offensive, using her to launch ever-more sharp attacks against Barack Obama and Biden—attacks that will present the challenge of responding without being labeled sexist.”Some have been dispatched to Alaska to handle issues on the ground there relating to Palin’s background as mayor of Wasilla and governor, while others will join her on the road or work on her behalf from the McCain campaign’s headquarters in Virginia.Their first priority: getting Palin ready for her first network interview since becoming John McCain’s running mate. Newly hired aides are briefing her on likely questions and topics when ABC’s Charlie Gibson sits down with her later this week in Alaska. The intensive prep session includes staffers going through footage of previous interviews by the "World News Tonight "anchor, according to an aide. McCain aides declined to say whether they’re readying Palin by asking mock questions. “We’re preparing her for the interview as you would prepare any principal,” said this aide, noting that Palin prefers concise briefing material and topics addressed on notecards and in bulleted fashion. “She has clearly given a lot of thought to a wide range of issues,” added the aide. “She has engaged everybody who has briefed her.” Numerous McCain aides are involved in the preparation, and staffers stressed that all under the McCain-Palin umbrella were operating as one unit. Traveling with her and working with the press are Tracey Schmitt and Tucker Eskew. Each is taking a leave from private sector public relations-related jobs to work the final stretch. Schmitt worked on both Bush campaigns and ran the Republican National Committee communications shop before leaving a year ago to work for a biopharma company. Eskew is a longtime GOP strategist who was a top aide in the first Bush campaign and later worked in the White House before co-founding his own public affairs firm. They’ll be joined at times by Nicolle Wallace, the former White House communications director who has served as a senior adviser to the McCain campaign since spring. Mark Wallace, Nicolle Wallace’s husband and another veteran of Bushworld, will lend a hand to Palin by prepping her for the lone debate against Biden, Oct. 2 in St. Louis. Offering policy counsel will be Steve Biegun, a seasoned foreign policy specialist who did stints as a senior member of Bush’s National Security Council and as national security adviser to former Sen. Bill Frist, when he was Senate majority leader. He’s taken a leave from his position as a government affairs executive at Ford Motor Co. Also helping on the policy front is Joe Donoghue, a longtime McCain aide who has worked for years in the Arizonan’s Senate office. He’ll travel with Palin and serve as a liaison to the campaign headquarters on issues. Joining the road show is a loyalist from Palin’s inner circle, Kris Perry. Also a native of Wasilla, Perry managed Palin’s gubernatorial campaign and is her closest aide. With her familiarity of her boss’ record and background, she’ll help answer questions that arise about Alaska. Back at the campaign’s Arlington, Va., headquarters, Maria Comella will work with reporters. She worked for Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004 and was a top spokeswoman in Rudy Giuliani’s primary effort. Another Bush veteran and press aide, Ben Porritt, is largely focused on going after Biden, but will also assist the Palin effort. Also detailed to the mothership will be a trio of staffers tasked specifically with responding to the sort of viral attacks that have been popping up about Palin’s background and record in Alaska. These aides include Mark Paoletta and Edward O’Callaghan, both Republican lawyers, and Brian Jones, a former top RNC aide who served as McCain’s communications director until a campaign shake-up last summer. The public face for this pushback, though, will be woman Republican politicians, a “truth squad” team designed to highlight attacks on Palin and draw sympathy to her side. Then there is the campaign’s Last Frontier satellite: Taylor Griffin, another Bush administration veteran who had been focusing on doing press on economic issues, has been detailed to Alaska to oversee the campaign’s operation there as reporters from across the world descend on Anchorage, Juneau and Wasilla to probe a political figure who is turning out to be anything but an ordinary vice presidential nominee.I rest my case.

Why should she do an interview right now? The McPalin campaign have everything going their way at the moment. They are very successfully portraying her as a victim of the press, it's straight out of the Hillary playbook and it's working very well. She will do interviews when it benefits the campaign, not a moment sooner. They are playing the whole situation brilliantly and Barry's ill-timed joke yesterday plays right into their hands.
/end threadSilly dems, always forgetting that they are trying to win an election, not win an award for most liked by the opposition

So far the American public hasn't had any opportunity whatsoever to hear this woman speak in a setting where she wasn't prepared with pre-written speeches. I want to see how she handle's some good old fashion grilling, that is, if the GOP ever allows it. The fact that they haven't yet and don't seem interested in doing so should scare you a bit. If it scares them... it should scare you. They call Biden a gaff machine, but me thinks that this woman will stick her foot in her mouth big time if they ever release the reigns and allow the media a chance to ask her some tougher questions. Even the debate will be totally rehearsed. I want to see her do SOMETHING, anything that isn't scripted. Maybe then we'll figure out how she feels about birth control, wildlife, the bridge to nowhere, the environment, Iraq, etc. Not too long ago when asked about Iraq he said, "I haven't thought much about it." Hmm... that's comforting!
Just admit it, you can't stand that the Republicans have dared to pick a woman to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. You're a sexist.

What case? I dont get the point of the bolding that section.
My understanding of what they and you were saying is that Palin wasn't going to be prepped intensively for the Charlie Gibson interview. And as I said before, a defense attorney is certainly going to help his client with what he thinks the prosecution is going to throw at him and it's the same here. They'd be idiots not to prep her with likely questions that Gibson will ask.

I can live with that. However, it seems pretty disingenuous to ask things of the McPalin campaign that you aren't asking of Obama. That's all I'm really pointing to. Too bad DN just seems like an obama talking head who drank the koolaid. All of these 'hit and run' threads meant to tear people's heart strings just make him seem more like a spokesman. And he's sexist, like BG said.

Looks like you are gettin' a little nervous there Daniel. Obama is on tilt and bluffing his stack off as fast as Phil Ivey did last month at the Bike in the 10K. A few thoughts.1) I wouldn't worry about Biden being the gaffe machine -- I would be more worried about Obama the Gaffe Machine as he is quickly sealing his fate into the political grave over the last two weeks. Everything he has tried recently has backfired (rightfully so).2) The media has attacked Palin in the lowest of ways. If I was her I would tell the slime at CNN and MSNBC to go F*&k themselves after what they did to her and her family. Interview ??? Forget it.3) Palin has decided to be kind and will be on ABC news soon for an interview. 4) You are not legally allowed to vote in this nation so why should any American consider anything you say ? Because you are a good poker player ?? :club::ts:D :D By the Daniel -- I was wondering if you could do me a favor. Enlighten Americans about the man who after being on a waiting list for several weeks in the Canadian Health Care system for a hip operation gave up due to severe pain, flew to India and $4500 later had the operation to fix it. Or .... educate us on the lady who had breast cancer and ended up on a waiting list to see an oncologist only to miss her appointment when it finally came her turn. Why did she miss the appointment ??? She died a few days earlier. Perhaps you would like to educate all of us Americans on the great Health Care system in Canada that Obama wants our country to adopt as our very own. (e.g. Centralized Government control over our health) Great News Daniel -- Got some good dirt for you to tell Obama --- Let him know that Sarah Palin's youngest daughter went to the dentist today and was found to have a cavity. He can use it in his next speech to insinuate that Sarah is a rotten mother.

Or the head of the household in Cochrane who was in constant pain and out of work for a year and a half waiting for a knee replacement, so his 50 something wife had to get a supermarket job to meet the payments on their condo without totally draining their savings. Or the OHA player who tore his ACL threatening his hockey career and faced a 6 month minimum wait for regular surgery, as much as a year for a scope, so his parents mortaged their home and he had it scoped in Cleveland.Oh, yes...just anectdotal evidence, my son happened to billet with the only Canadians having problems with the system. But it least its "Freeeeeeee". :club:

I have a Canadian friend living in Toronto and his family has had several major medical problems and never had a problem getting to see a doctor or getting into an ER. Of course that's only anectdotal evidence too.

What a stupid post Daniel. You really believe that Palin and the GOP are the only ones whose speeches are pre-written?How can you make this thread in good faith? It's absurd to go after Palin-McCain for this reason, especially because BHO doesn't write his own material.Do you realize how much of a hypocrite you look like here?
Don't twist my words! Obama, McCain, and Biden have done many interviews that weren't scripted. She has not, as of yet. And yes, since I can't stand her I want to see her screw up badly and show the world who she really is. I realize that speeches and even debates are scripted, duh, that's NOT what I'm referring to. I want to see her squirm on a televised interview. I want to see her continue to try and lie about the bridge to nowhere, I want her to answer publicly why she is against sex education and birth control. I want the American public to see just how out of touch her views are with the majority of Americans.

What is making me nervous is that this election should not be close and I don't trust the American voters one bit. Why should we? George W. Bush got elected (kind of) and then RE-ELECTED! 8 years of George W. 8 years! Now we have an excellent candidate to take over, improve the world view of America (very important), improve the economy for the poor and middle class, but it's been overshadowed by a party that simply plays the game of politics better by pandering to uneducated Americans who'd be better off voting Obama. Instead, many of them don't want to vote for a "Muslim." I can't think of another country in the world where this election would be close. I realize that's meaningless in that they have no say, but man, Palin is more conservative on social issues than George W. No sex ed, no birth control, I mean, what era is she living in? Screw the environment, screw the polar bears, etc. I can't stand that woman.

Oh yeah? I'd like to make you a sizable bet that if you polled Americans on the following questions they'd disagree with Palin:1) Are you for or against birth control?2) Are you for or against sex education in school?3) Do you believe that teaching abstinence is an effective form of birth control? I'd do more, but in terms of being out of touch, her positions on these three issues are simply not in line with most Americans.

As long as it's not taught to Kindergartners like Obama has suggested.
