RDog 0
Her tone sounds more like she is speaking at a high school assembly than a vice presidential nomination.Absolutely. I keep emailing my Republican friends and telling them that it sounds like a city council meeting. I kind of feel bad for Republicans.

copernicus 0
1) Is it not kind of a big selling feature for a vp to be readily able to step in for the president if something were to happen? No. Its a big talking point that is next to meaningless in the voting booth. ajs510 122
You all just wait, Biden is gonna need extra depends after she chews out his ass hole in the VP debates.Hope so. I like her, but my kneejerk reaction is the same as everyone else's. She's out of her element, comes off like a hockey mom (which she is) rather than a top political mind, and does the impossible by making McCain look older and feebler than he already did. I guess we'll see what we'll see.
RDog 0
No. Its a big talking point that is next to meaningless in the voting booth. Not so much when the candidate is 73 years old.
vbnautilus 48
No. Its a big talking point that is next to meaningless in the voting booth.Life expectancy for a US male is 75 years. At 72, McCain would be the oldest man ever to become president; it's certainly a valid concern.EDIT: just looked up the numbers on the CDC life table. The chances of a white male dying by age 76 is 40%. Chances of dying between the ages of 72 and 76 is about 12%.
nutzbuster 7
I will say this...This has shaken up the race. This is ALL everyone is talking about.maybe not so dumb after all?still....LOLOLOLOLHEY DANIEL...SHE LOVES HOCKEY!!!!
Suited_Up 2
This is pretty funny.Seems like a nice chick though. But I 2nd/3rd/4th that it sounded more like a high school speech.
Franchise632 0
No matter what happens in the race....the one thing that McBush has done right is that not a single talking head on cable news is talking about that great speech last night. They may go with the thinking of "talk good about me, talk bad about me...just talk about me." They are happy as long as the narrative is about them and not about Obama. DanielNegreanu 141
Haven't read all the posts but this is shocking and mind boggling. With all the talk about Obama not being able to lead on "Day 1" does anyone feel comfortable with this woman being president if McCain croaks? It's not like that's not a very real concern... he's old! I get that she may be able to win over some Hillary voters, but I think her addition is going to scare away some McCain voters who jump ship the other way. I think McCain makes a big mistake here and age has all of a sudden become an even bigger issue. Had he chosen a more established VP that could "lead on day one" I think people would have felt more comfortable voting for McCain. Now people voting for McCain have to consider the real possibility of putting the country in her hands.

fatman 1
Dan Quayle redux? Two examples of surprise VP picks by Republicans. Spiro Agnew and Dan Quayle. Now, I will readily admit that neither of them were great but they both were on WINNING TICKETS. I don't think this is as bad as all you guys think. The one man who all Democrats hate, but who orchestrated the last two Republican wins, one with an unpopular president presiding over an unpopular war, Karl Rove, thinks it's a great pick. I tend to believe what he says when he is talking about presidential politics.

Now people voting for McCain have to consider the real possibility of putting the country in her hands.Yes, people are questioning BHO's qualifications to lead "Day One". And he is the HEAD of the Ticket!!! No one even has to "croak" for him to run the country without relevant experience .As #2 on the Republican ticket, Sarah Palin is arguably as qualified as BHO to lead "Day One". I'll call her experience a "push" compared to 143 days in the Senate.Over the past several days, BHO finally got his "Convention Bump" in the polls - however it cam largely from "Conservative Democrats". This woman is going to be VERY attractive to those Conservative Democrats and certainly has the potential to provide more of a bump to McCain than Biden did for BHO.

With all the talk about Obama not being able to lead on "Day 1" does anyone feel comfortable with this woman being president if McCain croaks? It's not like that's not a very real concern... he's old! This is the wonderful thing about republicans, before this pick that was that they wanted to talk about. This was a key in there attacks of Obama. Now that they have a political unknown with no exp outside of her state it isn't a real issue. I was just watching one talking head talk about how her time serving on her local PTA was valuable life expierence. Maybe to run for Governor of Alaska. This pick is such an obvious attempt to say "hey look at us, we can have a historical choice on our ticket too!" It is an absolute concern to people that care about these things. She would not be ready to lead a country. However logic hasn't seemed to be a great trait that a number of voters seem to have.
