PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (8 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)Hero ($391.60)BB ($402.15)UTG ($418.80)UTG+1 ($530.90)MP1 ($674.10)MP2 ($515.25)CO ($70)Button ($395.30)Preflop: Hero is SB with 6 :D , 6 :club: . 5 folds, Button raises to $12, Hero calls $10, 1 fold.Flop: ($28) 4 :D , 8 :D , 5 :D(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $20, Hero raises to $55, Button raises to $120, Hero......?This is like my first orbit at the table so no reads. But his button raise is a lot of possibilities. Big cards, any PP, lots of suited connectors. Q8s+, K7s+ and Ace....etc etc.So i hit a decent flop for 66, 854r. And i decided to c/r him here. When he makes this tiny 3rd raise i get suspicous. Now my range is overpairs, set, a straight, maybe he flopped 2 piar with 85s, never know. But i also think he could have just A high or maybe a weaker pair like A5s, thinking im just trying to take it away.IMO, i have 3 options.1)Fold2)Shove3)Make a small re-raise, which would commit myself anyway, but i think that looks stronger than shoving.thoughts?

I'm not the biggest fan of the flop c/r here for just this reason. You did have the option to call and you still have the option to call his raise, which you should list as a choice.I think any raise is = to and looks the same as a shove. I think if you flat call here, your hand looks 100% like what it is - pair and a gutter, so you probably don't have good implied odds.I think fold>shove/raise>call

Raising commits you to the pot, and this bad against the range you've laid out against your opponent. I think this is big pair more often than just 'A-high'. MuckemsayUHHHH
oh yeah, agree 100% there. Im just saying i still considered it a possiblilty that he thought i was just stealing and thus 3-bet with nothing. But then again, very few 2/4nl players will think that high of level

I know I'd 3-bet you with air there a good portion of the time. :icon_biggrin:That said...yeah...most players have something pretty good in this spot, so you should fold.

i think i like c/c the flop a million times better than c/r TBH...i'm looking for the 6 outer & folding turn unimproved... as played i fold to this 3bet...*EDIT*occasionally i'll c/r here, but if i do so it's because i'm trying to pick off A K... if i'm called, i'm leading an non threatening turn card (i dont mind 2-J) even if i dont improve... however if i dont improve i'm folding to a raise...

Uhh...button's range is huge...so it's kind of odd that you're only trying to pick off Big Slick.I don't disagree with some of your conclusions: I don't think c/c is a terrible way to go with this...or even c/f...or possibly c/r. Just noting that Button isn't going to have a pair here a lot of the time.

out of curiosity, how many tables do you multitable at a given time. (if you do).and roughly, when playing your normal limit. (which is 3/6nl i think??) how many bi's are u using as a roll for play? are you fulltime?

Firstly, i think i might have called you a jackass or something offensive in another thread, i apologise for that, i was just really pissed of that day(not about poker though).Annoying spot, but i don't there's not much you can do except fold unless you know the button is a very good player who is capable of 3-betting with air.

Usually 3-4 tables of 6-max. I'm mostly playing 3/6 these days, but I'll play as low as 2/3 and as high as 5/10. I have roughly 18k in my online BR right now. I'm no longer fulltime. If I had to guess, I'm putting in 12-15 hours a week over the past few months.

Yeah....i suck. After some thinking, I was like 90% sure he had JJ+. So my dumbass raised to $270 thinking he cant ****ing call a 4th bet with just an overpair on this board, right? Okay, so I was wrong, he instashoves which made me think he flopped a set, or maybe a str8 but with like $280 in and like $100 behind, I had to call.He had QQ, and I obv spike a 7 on the river for the $787 pot.
