I assume that is implied by the original question. What kind of winning players sits 20/40 with his last 2k?
actually, the implication was we could win off of most of the players thereI"m not sure what qualitative factors make this a call, besides you don't want to play anymore anyway, or you suck and don't expect long term to be profitable.that's all I was trying to retort to your "qualitative" rationale

Wait,I read in another thread that Navy lost his live bankroll by playing over his head...This is a true story, isn't it...Isn't it...
no this is not a true story. it is a hypothetical question as a response to daniel's current quiz. showing the relationship between gambler's ruin and the +ev decision.my live bankroll was not lost because i was playing over my head, it was lost because i ran bad, had life leaks, and wasn't man enough to drop down. (maybe we're saying the same thing)i've mentioned before that i play O8 and the largest game in socal is 6/12 with a full kill. i make more than enough at my job that if i go broke one week, i can be in the game the next.my girlfriend doesn't even wear make up and pays for all her expenses herself.

There's two choices here. 1) If we suddenly had an awakening in the middle of the hand that we should not be in a 20/40 NL game right now, and are planning on cashing out and going to the 3/6 limit tables afterward, than sure this is a fold.2) If however, we're still planning on playing in this game "because of all the donkeys" or had any plan at all, then this is a definite call, because we can't expect to find another edge this big. Honestly, unless the other players literally play with their cards face up, there's no way we can do better than the current situation.

DUH.ask him to run it twice. if he says yes, call. if no, fold. :Dbtw, where do you play O8, navy?
hawaiian gardens mostly. i go to l.a. a lot and the 5 is all torn up so when there is a lot of traffic i play at the commerce until dawn.hawaiian gardens has THE softest games in southern california from 1/2 all the way up to 30/60. the 3/6 stud 8 game is maybe softer than .25/.5 online. even when i was running bad i was crushing the 8/16 LHE game. but i just like split pot games a lot more.the bikes 6/12 O8 is a little tougher and i don't know the people as well. plus, i like asian people. we call all the women "ma ma" and we say "di-yaaa" when we get bad beated.we should meet up some time.

another example of someone that doesn't get it.We all take "going broke" lightly, because we can make other income. This guy has no other money ever available for poker. This is not close to a call.I don't think anything short of the stone cold nuts is a call for all your Bankroll.Calling here means 57% of the time you will never ever play poker again for money./there is one choice, not 2 for a sensilble person who likes to play pokerplease, people.don't make me come to this thread again,

finally, people start understanding the question.
The real answer is: if you loved poker and were truly good at it, you have no reason to borrow a $2K roll to sit at this game because, ostensibly, you've already earned your own roll. And if you haven't, you are and always will be a recreational player (which I'm careful to point out, is not a condemnation). And if you call and lose, if you are good player, you can go back to the $100 table and re-earn a roll to play at this level in a couple weeks. In other words, the question is illogical, except in that it points out that you need to get a divorce from the greedy, grasping, little chick you married right now, before she can destroy your life.

anyone old enough to recall the SNL skit with the bird that fills the hollow tree stump with nuts for the squirrel and gets paid $2?And he buys whiskey for $1 because the gun is $4?Then finally he has saved $4 from filling the stump with nuts and using $1 for whiskey each time and saving $1.Then he shoots himself with the gun.not sure why; but this thread is reminding me of that cartoon short

Oh, OK, thanks. I have never watched HSP. Most of the other shows I've seen, but not that one. Is it on GSN?

It's probably one of Doyle's funniest quotes of all time, you have to watch it.
