HangukMiguk 8
well, this is looking crappy...5-0 in the second.
Solodell 0
and we dub thee, worst inning of the year for the pitching staff! (at least I hope it's the worst all year). Gave up 8 runs and 14 batters to the plate.
HangukMiguk 8
is it just me, or is our pitching staff just blowing the big one this season?

Solodell 0
pitching staff isn't bad, bullpen just sucks with inherited runners. They're fine when they start the inning though.
Hobbes 1
pitching staff isn't bad, bullpen just sucks with inherited runners. They're fine when they start the inning though.Isn't the ability to strand inherited runners the most crucial aspect of relief pitching?
Solodell 0
It's a big part, but being able to get guys out for multiple innings is important too. Playoff time is probably where inherited runners become more crucial, since managers aren't quite as likely to let a guy battle throw, since they don't usually need to preserve the bullpen (enough off days to make up for it). KowboyKoop 0
Pujols hurt for how long? Just lost two in a row to Cincy...looks like Cincy may be giving STL a good run so far....
Solodell 0
things are not good. Pujols out probably like 4-6 weeks. Izzy is having SERIOUS control issues, like, more walks than strikeouts serious. Mulder has been pathetic last 3 outings, Suppan and Marquis aren't pitching well, Carp and Ponson just back from DL, Edmonds should probably be on DL, Bigbie (not a big player, but a good PH guy) out with an umbilical(?!) hernia. I'm just glad it's the Reds and not the Astros that are going to pass us first, cause I doni't think they have the pitching to go a huge run and get way out ahead of us until Pujols gets back and the managements trades one of our SP so Tony will have to give Reyes a spot and leave him there (since he's probably our 2nd best pitcher, but stuck in AAA right now). Let's just say I think we might be able to beat the Royals if we played them now, but I wouldn't be placing any money on the deal.
Solodell 0
and looks like Carpenter is back pitching well again after his DL stint, and Rolen is simply tearing it up (leads league in hitting as I write this), and Pujols is feeling better and should be back closer to the 4 weeks than 6. Oh, and Cincinnati gave us a gift horse by losing 5 straight after they swept us, lead back up to 3!
Solodell 0
well, thank you AL Central leaders for beating our brains in and exposing the many glaring weaknesses of our team. Man, Sox beat our brains in, and Detroit seems to think they get to do the same thing. Should have won last night (Thanks IZZY!!!). Hopefully can win today and not get swept on our 6 game jaunt through Chicago/Detroit.
KowboyKoop 0
Sweep.I wish we played in the NL Central...we won the series at Houston, swept Pittsburgh and have a 2-0 lead over Milwaukee in the deciding game of this series....wish we played there instead of playing the ChiSox and Tigers 38 times. Either one of them would probably win this division too. I'm just hoping this turns out to be the worst week of the season for the Cards.

I'm just hoping this turns out to be the worst week of the season for the Cards. No, Cleveland and Minnesota aren't walks in the park either...but I wouldn't go so far as to say they'd win the NL Central. They'd both be winning teams in the NL most likely, but I'd definitely put St. Louis ahead of them. The Cards are just in a funk at a bad time, that's all. Once they snap out of it they'll be back to whipping up on Houston and whoever else is (or won't) make a run at them in the Central. Royals play Cincy next..perhaps we'll help you Cards out in the Central.
KowboyKoop 0
Royals lock up the series with tonight's amazing win...go for the sweep tomorrow.

KowboyKoop 0
Nah, the Cards don't suck (though their pitching did in tonight's game), they'll be fine....believe it or not the Royals are playing pretty well right now..even found a way to win tonight even though we didn't play all that well at times tonight. Solodell 0
just venting some frustration. It's really been over 2 seasons since we've dealt with any prolonged struggles like this. Most annoying thing right now is realizing that the NL is there for the taking pretty easily and our team is severely flawed right now, and there isn't a lot of help out there to go get.
