Scott3705 0
I am watching poker superstars for the first time ever tonight and can't get over how ridiculous the blind structure of the tournament seems to make the play. All in moves with 45 suited and then calls from q8o. Quite possibly one of the most boring TV experiences available.
Vade 0
Clearly you haven't been familiarized with The Learning Channel yet :PLook, the structure is bad, but it's somewhat entertainingSklansky's 5 pocket Aces is one of the funniest poker moments I can recall
Scott3705 0
I also found it special to see Huck Seed bluff into a "semi" dry side pot with a 73 with Johnny Chan all in. A Cardinal sin that I have seen a lot of people talk about on this site.
Uppie_ 0
The show is brutal, i just hope after all this prelimanary crap they actually set it up like a tourament.

mark33f 0
Blinds increase every ten minutes...what a joke...it is a shame with all of those great players. I mean like two hands into the show someone is all in.

I mean like two hands into the show someone is all in.Just the demeanor of the pros at the table makes it seem like they're taking it as a joke too. Just laughing as they have to call some one's all in because 30% of the chips in play are already in the blinds and they're getting odds to callwith any two cards
flyingmoose 0
You can thank Barry (The Count) Greenstien for the louzy structure.Barry didn't create the structure, he created the time limit rules. If it weren't for him, they would just kill hands instead of fining the players for extra time.

Petoria 0
Funniest comment all episode, "Moneymaker is gonna want to protect his reputation in the next matches." Clearly a comment who has no clue about Moneymaker or anything going on in the poker world. Also, I thought it was funny how Chris Rose made a big deal that it was a seeded playoff. Because there's a huge difference between the player who accumulates the most points and the player who barely squeaks into the playoffs. I guess that means Sklansky and Liebert are the 2 best poker players in the world. Chris Rose makes Norman Chad look like a poker genius.10 min. blind period?????? Most all online tournaments have longer blind periods. Still gay, but still poker. I will end up watching it anyway.
Scott3705 0
I will end up watching it anyway.lol me too.
Guest
I will end up watching it anyway.lol me too.Me too, but it's really pathetic that 5 minutes into the aired show the big blind is already 10% of the starting stack. Then Michael Konik tries to claim this poker at it's finest, I don't think so. All-in poker for 45 minutes gets pretty damn boring IMOZara
Vade 0
Rose and Konik might be the worst commentators ever, even worse then Phil Gordon and Dave Foley (who I swear must be forcing straight faces during some of their crap)There are worse blind structures, but they're usually in home games and bar tournamentsChris Moneymaker, while clearly not a great player like a lot of these guys/gals isn't terrible either. He made the money at Foxwoods, and of course 2nd at WPT last year. That's not a one and done-and consider the pressure of being what Norman Chad described last year as "the face" of poker-something he never wanted to beI was originally going to put that Chris had no business being there, but you know what, every tournament has to have underdogsAnd btw, Sklansky is having a hell of a 2005-with a surprising victory over Phil Ivey at the heads up tournament (actually he won at least one more round too) and now this tournament. For a writer, that's not too shabby
Pudge714 0
Shows like this are designed at people who don't know anything about poker. It is designed for people who think every hand in poker will end up with a huge bluff or some one going all in, not some one slowly building up their stack through dozens of small pots. These shows are full of cliches to attract ignorant viewers and you must be aware of that.

The other thing is every other poker event I'd seen on Fox Sports had been great. They showed a ton of hands and really showed the poker going on, not just the all-in hands like ESPN does. Sure this meant a final table would take 4 shows to get through but you actually got to saw REAL poker being played in all its intricacies. I guess I was hoping for too much for them to keep this streak of great broadcasts up.Zara
Kilgore Trout 0
And I dunno how this show can be watched without tivo, they go to commercial or tell us chip counts, rules etc for 45 of the 60 minutes it seems.Watch three hands, then a series of coin flip all ins... I think I'll stop wasting time with this thing until the later rounds
PA32R 0
It's pretty amazing. Especially when you consider how Howard Lederer gushed about the format of the tournament where he was in the booth, how the fact that the blinds stayed small meant that everyone had to play poker after the flop. Chris Rose and Michael Konik agreed and talked it up. And now we see this. I'm not even watching it, there's nothing to be learned about how these experts would play in a "real" tournament. Wrathraven 0
just remember that these are the prelim rounds, and they have 24 (!) of these things to get through before the real deal starts. I think it was designed with the outrageous blinds on purpose, to get this part of the tourney over with ASAP and get to the real action. At least, that's my hope. What sucks is that half of the players are dull as rocks. The last PS show wasn't exactly thrilling, but they didn't even get the fun guys from that show back (like Gus Hansen). IMO the show has a lot of poker filler, as bad as that sounds. Even one or two on "The DN crew" would've made things so much more interesting. Last week was probably the most entertaining yet, just from the banter among Scotty Nyguen, Kathy Libert, Cindy Violett and Mike Caro. Which doesn't say a whole lot.

rkkkkjj 0
i think this flaming jerk made up the tournament structure just so he wouldnt have to play flops, pains me to watch this man, "i could have won a nobel prize" P U K E

AlexR 0
Its just sad to see the same channel that broadcast the first ever live final table is also broadcasting this. At the foxwoods final last year you saw exactly how Phil Ivey played good poker and ultimately won with skill, superstars II is as much a lottery as it is poker. I guess if cards are involved it is all the same to Fox executives.
