Acid_Knight 2
What do we think about this riverplay?Quite a bit suicidal.Once you miss the flop, you shouldn't get too invested. Calling to take it away is fine, but raising in position is more effective. What are you representing here? I think that if he did hit the A on the river, you're getting called. He might have even had a set, although that's unlikely.I just can't see this play working. You should've given up your $35 investment when he led the river.
paulie72 0
think about it this way: does a decent player c/c the turn here with just Ax? and if he has a monster would he c/c given this board?

Conversely, if I had flopped a set or two pair or an overpair and I wanted some money in the pot, I'd check-call becuase you either have something or were setting me up for a bluff and either way, you'll bet if I check to you. If I really had a monster, there'd be no need to check-raise becuase just betting out on the river looks more suspicious and I'm more likely to get called.

But you are right that its a nice line to get some money in the pot.If I really had a monster, there'd be no need to check-raise becuase just betting out on the river looks more suspicious and I'm more likely to get called.True againAs for the hand, I played it this way because I know villain wil raise about 70% of his hand pf, with 100% of that 70% he will c-bet the flop. Because of his aggressive image i figured he would not slow down on the turn with the really good hands cause if I had 8x he could take me to valuetown anyway. So I put him on 44-77 8-679TJ, maybe 99-JJ, or a spade draw with overs. So when he leads the river I think he is block betting his middle pair, bluffing with a missed spade draw or value betting a monster (all one pair aces include). I think he will fold 80% of his hands here and call 20% wich earns me a profit of 58$ on the rive shove

You say that he would not slowdown if he had a good hand, yet you assign him a range that includes 99-JJ, which are huge hands in this situation. If he had a spade draw with overs, the Ace on the river appears to be an overcard. It just seems like you're trying to justify what is a very sketchy play here. I applaud you for calling with nothing to set up the bluff and everything, but when he calls on the turn and then leads out on the river, you just have to abandon ship most of the time. After all, what are you really representing here? The A was unlikely to help you. Maybe he has 45 and rivered a straight. He'd certainly play the hand like that with a straight draw.

Acid_Knight 2
what i represent is an ace or better, wich includes sets and two pairsJust curious how you represent an A here. Unless it's A8, A3 or A2 you are unlikely to have an A here since you called on the flop and bet the turn.
paulie72 0
for the same reason you sometimes c/c with ace high, I bet it in position when I think its good and c river behind.
