Daniel Says Trump Is A Cancer To Our Society

Recommended Posts

Interview with Daniel at Pokerworks.com
Daniel: I missed out on some of the ones I really like now, like American Idol is one I really like. I didn't watch it till this season but I am really enjoying it. The same with Apprentice, I think Donald Trump is a complete and utter buffoon and a cancer to our society but I think the show is great. I watch Survivor and Amazing Race, but the show that got me started on reality TV was Real World. I have been watching Real World for like six or seven years now.
Did you actually say that Daniel? And if so, what were you thinking?I can understand the "Buffoon" comment. The Donald certainly has an unusual personality which is ripe for charicature. He's not shy about promoting himself either, but then again neither are you. It's a key to success in a lot of ventures, especially the entertainment business. Some people even hire publicists to do it for them. But to say he is a "cancer to our society" is pretty harsh. What does he do that's so bad? He builds beautiful buildings that provide the highest quality places for people who can afford it to live and work. He's involved in a lot of ventures with the success formula of always insisting that any product associated with his name is of the highest quality. He's gotten very rich doing it. But then you've gotten rich compared to most people by playing poker. He does glorify the lifestyle available to people with money. But you do the same thing albeit on a smaller scale. He doesn't glorify a sex-drugs-rockandroll hedonism. He raised his kids to be builders and contributers rather than spoiled rich playkids. I don't think he's ever attacked Religion like Ted Turner once did. He's been divorced a couple of times and is now married to a much younger woman. But she seems pretty happy with it and if they are in love who are we to judge. Oh, he has had mistresses. I guess those of us who have never lusted in our hearts can throw stones at him for that. This one is puzzling Daniel. It's not like you.PairTheBoard

Daniel:" Sometimes you just get real idiots, just stupid people who have bad reading comprehension skills. For example I wrote a blog about American Idol, where there is a site called votefortheworst.com which they were trying to sabotage American Idol by having people vote for this kid Sanjaya who was the worst singer left. They had been successful in keeping him there for awhile. I basically used an analogy on how these jerks, if you will, are trying to destroy something that people love. They are trying to destroy something that so many people love in this country and that's similar to what terrorists like to do. I used the analogy of terrorism and people were like, ‘oh how can you compare American Idol to terrorists?' I'm saying you idiots, it is an analogy. I wrote that it was absurd, but people take what you say in a blog a little too seriously sometimes, so sometimes I feel compelled to clarify for complete morons."My father died from cancer and I take no offense to the phrase "cancer to our society"I think Donald Trump is one of the more entertaining public A-holes out there. Anybody who can take a troll like Rosie O'donell off the air has some positive qualities.

So you think I misread him? He wasn't slamming Trump but just making a joking reference to how people criticize reality TV shows as a cancer to our society? It was tongue in cheek? More of a sarcastic concession to people who think reality TV is so bad? ok. Maybe. There wasn't any context to indicate that. But maybe there had been additional converstation between the interviewer and Daniel which wasn't shown. I don't think I'm a Complete moron though. If that's how it was said and meant I don't think it's that obvious. Notice I said it was puzzling. There's a thread going at 2+2 about it. Most people are taking it to mean what seemed clear to me. A slam of Trump. I came here to ask Daniel what he was thinking when he said it. Until he replies I don't see how we really know.PairTheBoard

I think he dislikes Trump. His prerogative. I also think that if people take what he says to literally, then Daniel doesn't truly put enough thought behind statements like you have pointed out. I think he is more guilty thinking he is funnier than he actually is. Most people share this problem.

Well, disliking Trump is one thing. And certainly his perogative. But calling him a cancer to society is something else. I'm not taking it literally. I realize he's not literally talking about cancer. But it sure looks like a heavy slam that's coming from a position of condemnation of Trump for some reason. I just can't understand what Daniel could know about Trump that would prompt such heavy condemnation.PairTheBoard

I used to have respect for Trump but, ever since his public spat with Rosie and his appearances on WWE, I put him in the same category as most of the reality show idiots who are desperate for attention.

From the conversations i have had with contractors that have done work for and in buildings in AC...he is unfair to work with and famous for stiffing contractors of the last percent retainage.I have heard this about his sites in AC, NY and other places...bottom line his theroy seems to be make them stretch so far they can't make until the end.

Pretty much standard for most real estate developers.

Sad but true...if you get stuck for 10 percent (standard retainage) on a contract of 10 mil...or more depending on the trade and project...it's gonna hurt. Sad part is thay will make the contractor bond-up for a couple points as well. Good news is that someone will get even with him. The questions remains is who, when and where...side note. The good old Philadelphia Eagles which moved into the new stadium 3 full years ago still have not paid all the outstanding invoices for that project!!!

Some things are understood one way when spoken, yet if written, they come off an entirely different way.If one were to write "Donald Trump is a cancer to our society", without any sort of clause or caveat, that would seem a bit dumb.If one were to say "Donald Trump is a cancer to our society" in a laughing, joking manner with all syntax and inflection that suggests as much, it would be understood as conversational hyperbole and a joke.If one were to say "Donald Trump is a cancer to our society" in a laughing, joking manner with all syntax and inflection that suggests as much and that statement were written down by someone and then summarily published in a written form, it would lose all of the syntax and inflection that it had when it was spoken, which would seriously impact its intended meaning.

I agree. I can see how it could have been a joke.PairTheBoard

I heard he can't get a casino licence in Vegas because he screwed Wynn years ago so Wynn with his Nevada connections won't grant him a licence. Thats why he's building just a condo with no casino. .
