okay.... before I open registration... well... preregistration... after all, we are 3 months away from the start.. we all need to figure out what the hell we are going to do as far as paying the buy in. Who holds it, where it is held, etc... because we are talking about a hell of a lot of money, and I don't really want to be held liable for such a large amount. so... any ideas? at the very least, I was thinking about like a paypal account... but I really dont trust paypal either... so... ideas?
I'll hold itYou're welcome

Who are you?
You might not know me but I've played with some superstars like Daniel Negraenoo and that Phil Ovey guy who both respect my raises. I know this because not only did Negraenoo mentioned me in his blog once, but I also railed them all the time and told them which cards were hot and hitting on those nights. Since I have am a FCP member who has earned the respect from 2 superstars, I figured that should satisfy the requirements for an entry in FCP Supers 2, right?

I'm back on FCP for the Negreanu Open but otherwise I haven't been there as I always feel lost with the new software... we still don't have a lobby chat right? Congrats again btw on getting hitched!! Hope you had a great time at your wedding and honeymoon! :club:

Guess who's back, back again.....I'm back in, tell your friends.I will be in the high buy in to defend my title as long as I trust the person to hold onto the money. Any chance to talk to someone at pokerstars to hold the money?

I sent off an email to pokerstars support, no response yet, hopefully have something tomorrow... however there is a contingency plan in place that will be very safe as well, just more of a hassle for me.

You aren't reading it correctly. Those are the payouts for each round along the way. So you can (just making up the numbers here) win $40, then $40 more, then $80 more then $160 more as you advance through each round.
How would you know about the payouts? Oh wait..NM. Which buyin are you in this year, Yoda? I want that one too so I can take you down this time.

correct... you can concievably win (with 32 entrants) $560 if you win every single match you are in... you are guaranteed at least $360 if you win the tournament.
But in the $250 buy-in, first gets $2000...that;s 8 times the buy in.In the $50 buy-in, it's $160, 3.2 times the buy in.Wouldn't those be closer to each other, maybe even more for the low buy in since there are more entrants?

the issue with the payout discrepency in the high and low, is logistically, with the number of entrants and the prize pools of the individual matches, it is very hard to produce similar payout structures, because the matches are winner take all, and there are more entrants. The real issue is, the lowest buyin I can do is a $5+.5, meaning with 32 entrants (as last year), each preliminary match is taking $40 out of the prize pool, or 0.8 buyins, severely depleting the prize pool. The only way to make the payouts closer, is to have the winners send some of their winnings back, which just isnt right. Which is why the payout structure is so bottom heavy, because with only $50 buyin, there isnt really any room to do it differently.

I'll play in all three divisions. And I'll volunteer to hold the money if we don't find another way. I've held before in lots of situations and am currently holding for the heads-up championship, I'm sure plenty of people can vouch for me if needed.I will definitely be in the low and mid divisions. If the high ends up being full of Stein, JC, BK, Tracey, etc., I may be rethinking, but other than that highly unlikely occurrence I'm in all three.

When is this happening? I really want to do it, but have a grueling travel schedule coming up for the real job (lame).

UPDATEStars support has finally replied... and I can now make tournaments <sarcasm>oh boy!</sarcasm>However, they will not hold the mobney in a separate account for us... so... I'm left with 2 options... I hold the mobney, or I've had a couple highly trusted volunteers volunteer to... regardless of how the money is held, which is a moot point at the moment as money wont start to be taken in for another 3 weeks at least... I am opening registration friday... to repeat..REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAYRegistration will be quick and painless... just navigate tohttp://home.comcast.net/~zsta2k5/signup.htmand fill out your information on friday (Note, signups before friday will be erased, as the page will not have the correct information on it).Upon signing up (and we have the payment information solid), a confirmation PM will be sent to you with entry instructions. Follow the instructions, and you will be registered. yay!Below is the email I recieved from stars...Hello Zach,I apologize for the delayed response, but will now try to help you.I'm afraid we can't let you have a second account for any reason, even ifit does not have playing privileges. You might consider arranging yourproposed tournament series so that all money is paid out as part of theprize pool of each individual tournament. To assist you with that, even though you don't yet have 2000 FPPs I ampleased to extend you the ability to post your own regular "privatetournaments" to the PokerStars lobby. Your account has been updated sothat you may now do so.Tournaments you deploy will have a "standard structure" with 1500 startingchips, 15 minute rounds, and standard blinds/antes.To post a new tournament, log into the PokerStars software and locatethe menu for "Private Tournaments" at the bottom of the "Requests"menu.A few points about the creation of events: 1) A password is required, and must be 6 characters or more. The password is case sensitive. The password must not be used in the message or tourney name fields, as it cannot be displayed in the tournament lobby. 2) Stud games may not be Pot Limit or No Limit. 3) We recommend tournaments be deployed several days prior to their start times for best turnout, though we can run events on as little as 60 minutes notice. 4) We advise including the buy-in amount in the name of the event, for clarity. Otherwise, players will have to visit the tournament lobby to locate the buy-in amount. 5) The "Message" field is optional, and what you place here will be displayed in the tourney lobby in the upper right panel. 6) An event can be canceled from the software only if there are no players signed up. Once players have signed up, the event can be cancelled only by a system administrator at PokerStars. Please keep all of the fields free of profanity or inappropriatereferences. PokerStars reserves the right to remove any eventdeployed with inappropriate references. Abuse of the feature bydeploying inappropriate material may result in the loss of thisprivilege.PokerStars provides the ability to create private events as a courtesyfor our frequent players. These events are not intended to be "open"events, nor to drive traffic from PokerStars to an outside web site.As such, a tournament title or tournament "lobby message" cannotcontain a URL or an Email address (such as a location where thepassword can openly be found).Good luck running your private games,Mike JonesPokerStars Poker Room Management Team
