Poker And School Do Not Mix

Recommended Posts

I am a freshman in college, and I have an extremely hard time doing anything in school, literally anything, because I am always thinking about poker, reading 2+2 and FCP, and playing. Does anyone else have a problem of total apathy towards school because of how awesome poker is??

It's all about balance. I ran into the same problems my freshman year, and then it compounded itself again when I turned 21 with AC so close to me. Basically, you just have to discipline yourself to stay away from playing poker when you have pressing school work. I'm alright with procrastination, but you definitely have to know when you don't have time for one more thread or one more SnG before you start studying.

Ummm.. Poker and anything dont go well.that is why, if you enjoy the game, you set time for it when you can. Unless you play fulltime.Treat it like any activity or hobby. Its the money that you're fixated with. when you're winning, you want to win more.It would be the same if you made money golfing. You would sit in class thinking about shooting 5 under cuz 5 under would make you a grand. etc.. whatever, its an example

if you sit in the library and drink pro player while you study it'll seem like you're at the casino
Yeah. But when you yell, "all in!" the librarian runs over to you and says, "ssshhhhhhhh."

I'm a freshman too and can definitely relate to what ur talkin about. I try to keep everything balanced by only playing late nights after i get everything done. I will put in time at the tables from like midnight-3ish unless i've got a test or something. It has worked out really good for me keeping up with my school work plus i can make the extra money

Once you're addicted to poker (like 90% of us here), it is a challenge to strike a healthy balance between poker and everything else in your life. At this exact moment, I am failing at this struggle...Why?Because I am right now sitting at my desk at work, reading and posting in a poker forum instead of preparing for my presentation that I have to give this week. Healthy balance?I think not.

You are about to go through possibly the best 4 years of your life. Don't spend it playing poker. Do what most freshmen do and fail at school b/c of drugs, sex, and alcohol.
He can fit all four in... at the same time! Playing an online tournament while getting <censored>, drinking whiskey and smoking pot. Extra points if you manage to do all four at a local B&M instead of doing them at home.

QFT. You will never again have so many alcohol-fueled, sex-crazed sleazy chicks concentrated in as small an area as college in your life. Limit yourself to 60 minutes poker per day, and spend the rest with the 19 y.o. hotties. No SW(just a little tip from your perverted uncle MTDESMOINES)
