Alright ill have a chance to take a shot at higher limit a week from friday. When I play live I usually only play 1/2 100 max or 2/5 200 max at casino windsor. But Ive been running well there lately and on the last friday of every month they run a 500+50 MTT. Im not going to play in it. However, after the tourneys they run a 5/10 500 max. Ive heard its very juicy, especially after this tourney. My roll in cash is only about 2.5k, and i have another 2k i could get instantly. I also have alot more money outside of this, but this is what would be available to me immediately. Should I take the plunge and dive into 5/10??? I would prob be one of the top 3 players at a random table of 5/10 there.
Again, why not "win" your buyin by doubling up in the $2/5 game, then getting a table change to the $5/10? You'll be risking less of your own money, and you'll be able to play your game, instead of worrying about "how much of your roll" you are playing with.

I'd want a 5K roll minimum to comfortably play 5/10.GL
my roll is about 5k, and i have a retirement fund if need be :club:. Yes i am 19 with a retirement fundMTD, great point. I should sit at 2/5 and try to get 500 then move to the 5/10 game. for some reason i didnt think of that.

Um.....it's not a retirement fund if you are going to use it for anything but retirement - in that case it's just called "savings." Go play, go again, don't play scared, don't worry if you lose. As Ivey says, it's the only way to get good.

If you win all the time at 2/5 and have the money i'm not sure what the difference is between "winning" your buy in and just buying in.Bankroll rules are designed to keep you from going broke. If you don't care if you loose the money/won't effect the game you normally play (1/2,2/5) then there really isn't any reason not to take the shot.In fact i'd argure that even if you lose the experience is + life EV which is really what it's all about anyway.

if the money isn't that big of an issue for you go for it. as long as you are comfortable with the stakes and not too worried to play your game you should be fine.

for the record I've played at windsor many times and I'm sure that game is 500 minimum cuz last time I was there a guy bought in for like 8 grand...

Absolutely take a shot. If you get a feel for how the game is when your bankroll isn't up to par, imagine how easy it will be when you actually do have that bankroll to play in that game. I honestly don't think the play from 2-5 to 5-10 is that much different. It is still poker but people playing the game have deeper pockets than others or the players at lower limits. Just don't play with scared money. No matter the money, the cards are still the same.

they almost always run 500 min, 10-20 blinds thurs, fri, and sat night. it is a different game then the 5-10 500 max. They rarely run the 500 max. I really dont understand the pit bosses there...when i was there on sat night so ****ed up. They had only 1 2/5 and 1 10/20 game going. The list for 2/5 had about 20 ppl, and the list for 10/20 had at least 10. I have no clue why they didnt open another 2/5 or a 5/10 game. So confused with them. Lol ironically, i guess Windsor is south of the border of us. GL man. Im going to be in Israel (yay free vacations :club: ) for the next 12 days, i get back the 22nd. On June 8th im going to verona, NY for heartland poker tour, but in the 2 weeks in between I will be at windsor probably a ton. Hopefully I can ride my variance until the end of the tournament in NY. GL.
