Alright ill have a chance to take a shot at higher limit a week from friday. When I play live I usually only play 1/2 100 max or 2/5 200 max at casino windsor. But Ive been running well there lately and on the last friday of every month they run a 500+50 MTT. Im not going to play in it. However, after the tourneys they run a 5/10 500 max. Ive heard its very juicy, especially after this tourney. My roll in cash is only about 2.5k, and i have another 2k i could get instantly. I also have alot more money outside of this, but this is what would be available to me immediately. Should I take the plunge and dive into 5/10??? I would prob be one of the top 3 players at a random table of 5/10 there.

Do you care if you lose the money? If so, you probably shouldn't take the shot.If you don't really care about the money, go for it.
I'd go for it. You said that you can get 2k easily, so you may as well try.

If u dont care about the money then burn it or send it to me. It is your money, if you feel that you could increase your BR by 50-200% go for it. But dont go into thinking your only going to play big cards. Play your normal game and you'll be fine.

I've played in all of the games that you are talking about. The 5/10 game is usually a lot of action so be ready for some wild stuff. Some times the game is good if you get some of the 10/20 players playing in it and they love to play big pots and with the 500 cap cant play the same as the 10/20 uncapped. But much of the time that 5/10 game can be filled with tough players, so when the 2/5 and 5/10 is going at the same time the 2/5 is usually much much softer.

If you really won't be hurt by losing two buy-ins, go for it. If you'll feel it but won't die, go for it. If you'll be afraid to put your money in when you know you should, don't do it.

its not that i dont care about the money, but it is expendable. I am def. leaning towards taking the risk unless someone on here convinces me otherwise...
If you're confident you're ready and aren't hung up about losing it, why not? As long as you aren't doing it out of desperation and know how to handle yourself, go for it. What people said about limiting yourself to one or two buy-ins sounds good. If you crash, come back another day and try again when you're in a better frame of mind. That way, you'll still have most of your roll, and can give yourself time to think about differences you may have noticed at that limit, etc. Also, I'd be sure and rail the game for awhile before I jumped in to help take some of the "newness" out of it. Good luck!

based on your role I defintely would'nt. the games at windsor have so much action that you need to not sweat 4 buy ins at times. Also as I said above the game is not as soft as you may think, but there probably will definetely be 1 or 2 maniac players that you can stack fairly easily

I've played at windsor casino 1/2 and $50 mtt's and I've yet to find an above average player. (ok, maybe 3 or 4 max) I know it's pretty cocky to say such a thing, but the play is sooooo horrendous. As for taking a shot... GL on whatever you do. My buddy was gonna play in the $500 mtt because he is a moron, but from what I understand the payouts are pretty damn high compared to the other tourneys they run, and the structure is a hell of a lot better. Good luck, and please post any interesting hands you may have?sweet.

ive played with most of the guys now. Only a couple really scare me. Im sure you know 'sleepy' Mike if you play there alot, that guy is ****ing good. There are also a couple of young guys who are good. But alot of the 5/10 and 10/20 players are old people with money to lose. A doctor who donated a clinic to Kenya, a young chaldean guy who will get it in with any draw, an old Indian guy who likes to call 300$ re raises preflop on ace-rag, etc..im sure you know who im talking about.beaver-I dont plan to play in the tourney, i would have to be there aroudn 11 30 am, meaning id have to wake before 10 am. No thanks, as it will be my 2nd day of summer vacation :DSilky, how often do u play there.

Sleepy Mike is a very very good No limit player. He can play for like 36 hours straight and still play really well. Some of the young guys are solid and generaly do well in those games. Parves is a fish but he has gotten better if you can believe that, but he is still very very bad. Chaldean guy is pretty bad but can be tricky at times if im thinking of the same one, just walk the dog with him and he will keep firing bullets. The game is good to very good at times if you can get the 10/20 line up in the 500 max but the problem is that it is very high variance so without the role its tricky and they will put you to the test, they may be bad but they are aggressive. Some times there are fairly good players that play the 5/10 on the day of the tournies so it can be tough. You probably have an edge in the game but with your bankroll you will most likely lose unless you have a nice run over a few sessions.I play often when I am in town, I will be this summer and I play the 2max a lot the 5/10 if its soft and have played the 10/20 but it did'nt go well, I had one bad day and my roll could'nt stand the swings and it was a mistake and I probably had a significant edge. And so I have been in the exact spot you are in right now and I do regret taking the shot to the 10/20 with way too small of a roll for that game.

ya i guess iw ill call on my way and put my name on both lists. check out the 5/10 table, if it looks real profitable i will play, if not i will stick to 2 max. 2 max is such gravy at windsor and so fun. Only if 5/10 looks real good I will play. ANd maybe even bring 900, 500 for 5/10 and if I lose it just drop down, and have 2 buy ins for 2 max...

I would take a shot and buyin for the full $500 but if you lose that all I would take off, you dont wanna try and play catch up because you could end up losing a lot

Go for it. What the hell. You don't want to ever look back and say to yourself "I never took a shot." My couple cents worth.
yea i thinks ive decided to bring 1 buy in for 500 max, as long as the game looks beatable i will sit down. If there a couple guys I am scared of playing, I will pass.

Dude. The $2 tables are amazing, I cannot believe that the 5/10 tables are better, but I'd say time it right and give it a shot. It is only money. I'll be at the $2 tables on Friday.
