ibuddy 0
So I was just thinking today after someone said their grandma won some money in bingo......well simple question why is BINGO so different than poker and slot machines? Bingo is gambling, if there were a lot of teenagers and people from the age group 18-35 playing bingo and making Bingo popular I bet you anything they would change the laws about it. So what are the boundaries here? I don't see how there is local places where you can play bingo and not by the casinos.
psujohn 0
Bingo is gambling and illegal in many places. Most of the places that do allow bingo allow charities - usually churches - to run the game as a fund raiser. I've never seen a legal for-profit bingo parlor.
Kwest4chipz 0
I may be way off here, but isn't bingo usually tied to churches or something. If that is the case, the government doesn't wanna go to war with the religions in the country that hold bingo. I think we should make poker a religion....who is on board? We need to select a leader though. And the best strat book will be our bible...

There is a bingo place just down the street from me. They are just for bingo too, so they ovbiously make money from it. I want to look into this, because it doesn't make sense to me. I live in Colorado, the gambling laws here suck SOOO BAD. $5 MAX bets....and yet we can have local bingo places lol
QED 4
In general I think Bingo is classified as a lottery which might give it a different legal status?

milojones 0
Bingo is absolutely 100% illegal..in TN where i live now, you cant find a bingo game anywhere as it is considered gambling and against the law.. however.. in NJ where i used to live you could go to one of the local churches any day of the week and find 80 geriatrics dotting bingo cards until they drop as they use the profits for fund raising.edit: to the op..if the bingo parlor near you actually turns a profit id be very surprised.. they probably just use the money to pay for the person calling out the numbers, the cards, the pens, etc.. and to buy prizes that patrons can win. ibuddy 0
In general I think Bingo is classified as a lottery which might give it a different legal status?i think this is pretty interesting, i think there is a loop hole here. if bingo is classified as lottery than how can poker not be? If bingo places are open and they give money to the state than why couldnt u do that with poker and rake pots and keep records and give money to the state. hey in tn u said bingo is illegal, wow thats crazy, do u guys have fairly strict gambling laws there? NL there?

icemanrulz 0
but see thats the thing like the local bingo place near me is not near a church at all and its a fairly big placeHere in Michigan, bingo halls are not only in churches, but also in large bingo halls. While it is not in a church the bingo halls are also run for charity. Each night a different charity runs the bingo. Some nights it will be a local democratic party other nights a runaway shelter or drug rehab center. the bingo only pays for rental of the building and the worker are volunteers. How do I know....bingo is my wifes addiction.
