Some Hockey Pet Peeves

I understand yelling shoot it if the team had a 5 on 3 man advantage and pissed away like 90 seconds passing between defensemen. The worst is when it used the be Modry and Visnovsky on the point for the Kings under Andy Murray. Those two would just pass for minutes on end.I yell Shoot It with like 10 seconds left because you might as well at that point. One lady yelling shoot it made me so annoyed I got pissed off started yelling and made an 8 yr old kid cry. True Story.

Random one about playing...When playing adult league and the goalie freezes the puck and I'm by the net. I'm near him, don't get close to hitting the goalie, but the D man has to push/grab me because that's what he sees on TV. I tell him to get the F off me and he tells me that he's "protecting his goalie!" Um, from what?

Yeah stupid people who take adult leagues way too seriously. My opinion is as long as you are not hacking my goaltender I'm not going to hit you. If you're playing for the screen and you see the puck is covered and standing there then that is fine.It can get quite annoying sometimes with people trying to be macho. Last night I got pushed over the opposing goalie. The puck was loose but in my feet and they just took me out. It was a fair play and thankfully I missed their goalie's head.

Yep, you can always tell the people that are living their hockey dream in adult league and the ones that are just having fun. I mean, I'm REAL competitive and all, but I'm not out there acting like it's life or death or my career.Another one: Adult league players that call me a "pussy", etc. because I wear a full cage.

Pussy.
Anybody that doesn't wear a full cage or visor in adult hockey is an idiot. You play long enough, you're bound to get hurt at some point. You might be lucky and just get a small cut on the cheek, but then again you might just lose an eye or half your front teeth. Very, very -ev...And most of the time, those are the guys that have their chin strap hanging like 4 inches below their chin. I'm amazed at how stupid people can be sometimes :club::D

Naw, I like the guys in full cages... I learned years ago how to remove one on an opponent in one quick move in a fight... the look in their eyes when their protection goes away is priceless...DISCLAIMER: I'm referring to playing COMPETITIVE hockey and fighting. I have absolutely NO issue with someone wearing a cage or visor in rec hockey. Doesn't make you a *****, makes you intelligent....

If there is under 5 seconds it could be a bad thing. If the short handed team controls the rebound easily, they can feed the player coming out of the box who will have a breakaway

I'd say 1/2 the guys in my league wear full, 1/4 wear a visor and 1/4 wear nothing.

1 of the 3-4 times in 10 years I've gotten into a fight in adult league (guy 2 handed my buddy on my team), I dropped them gloves and took of my helmet right away. He looked at me like "WTF?" and came at me with his full cage on. I got it off pretty quick though... :D

I have no problem with the full cage. The problem lies with the guys who have worn full cages all their life. When they play Rec and players have half visors , they have no control over their stick. They are just used to everyone having full cages and never worry about keeping their stick down.Mind you this is not all of them but some of them.

One of mine is when the goalies mishandle the puck behind the net, and it ends up turning into a goal. Maybe it gets to me because I'am a goalie. And its never happened to me.

See 3rd Period of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals Last Year****ing Ty Conklin cost the Oilers game 1 and that set a terrible tone for the Series.

Smart players will not allow that to happen.

When the main action camera is not positioned properly, and you can't see over standing fans.
Whoever the CBC camerman is who has shot every Canuck playoff game this season. Seriously, it can't be that hard to have the camera covering the entire offensive zone during a PP, every other camerman has managed to do it for the past 50 years.

Here are some things off the top of my head that drive me absolutely insane when I see them happen.1. Going in on the net and taking a shot and then skating off into the corner or turning away from the net. I blame it on the years of practicing breakaways where you skate in on the goalies and then circle back to get in line for your next chance. 2. The defensemen backing up around centre ice instead of stopping and taking a step forward to pick up a loose puck. I can't believe how many times I see the d-man retreat and let the opposition forward pick up the puck.3. Wingers not covering the opposition pointmen in their defensive end. Take away the pointman and you take away an option for the opposition forward. You usually see the winger at the top of the circle where he is not checking the winger down low nor is he covering the pointman. This is usually more of a coaching decision but it still bugs the sh*t out of me.4. THIS IS MY BIGGEST ONE. Taking your time skating off the ice when changing on the fly. GET OFF THE F*CKING ICE AND BE QUICK ABOUT IT. The longer you take the longer we're shorthanded. If you can't hustle to the bench you've been out on the ice too f'ing long! 5. Wingers in their own end who shoot the puck around the boards to their side. Really, it's your wing and you're not there...who do you think will get the puck? Maybe the opposition d-man?6. Shots more than 4 feet high. When I played I loved to be in front of the net. It would p*ss me off when the pointmen would shoot it high because a) it's not going in, B) I can't legally deflect it, and c) it could f'ing kill me.I'll think of more. Anyone else got any?

Oh man, I've seen this so much from my team in a Sunday night mens league. My team is terrible so far, although we've only played two games against pretty strong teams thus far.I also hate seeing players come out with decked out, expensive gear/sticks and suck or don't know what they're doing; and the same with people who talk like they know everything.

hate it when they play 5 forwards on a powerplay. You are asking to get scored on or at least give a good short handed chance. Plus you are telling the 6 d-men that you all suck on the point and that our forwards are better.
