I can see the crooked-*** politicians drooling over this. More ammo for their self-righteous agenda.
You mean the anti-gambling conservatives or the anti-gun liberals? Everybody has something here.

the funniest part (maybe not funny per say) about this is that he was able to bring his gun into the casino, pull it out, and execute himself. and all the casino manager has to say is "we have signs saying no guns..."

They really do have a sign saying among other things, "No firearms permitted". It's a list of rules in which among other things there are typical rules such as no flash photography, etc...Kind of random/humorous to have a sign concerning the obvious.

its kinda funny to think a guy that was obviously bent on blowing his brains out was going to see a "no guns" sign and give up on his plan. metal detectors maybe, but just a sign? i doubt it.

Anyone think there's a chance in hell that even a single table (save, maybe, for the one he was at) stopped playing while they scooped up his brains and wheeled him out the door?

Odds are no. If it were in Vegas people would probably stop to take pictures. Sick place.

I'm against all table games and lotteries. Most of all, I'm against slots. See Oklahoma Johnny's book for similar comments.I've posted this before, but I'll repeat it:Countless retired or near-retired businessmen/women blow their life savings at casinos;typically $300K-$1M each. Many of them commit suicide. Even more people get hurt, including family and friends. It just doesn't get reported.CasinoRama had at least four dealers commit suicide that I know of in the last few years. They see all that money flowing and they think they can grab that illusory pot of gold...People throw themselves under buses, cars, etc. You never hear about it just as you never hear about suicides on public transit so as to discourage copycats.I read that b&m casinos suck money out of the local economies and lower productivity.Show me data that convinces me otherwise.Rake-free poker (or at least non-profit poker centres) should be the most we allow--I'm biased. The government has no morals and ignores the social cost of addiction--they are also addicted to revenues.I also don't think Sklansky's arguments supporting poker as a game of skill carries too much weightwith those in power (yeah, a complex issue). I used to laugh at these studies showing that chess in schools improves performance. Well, a massive tiddlywinks craze would also improve school grades too.Poker has a place in everyone's education, but after sufficient learning, we should probably consider moving on unless we turn pro or play rake-free.The fact that skill is involved or subtantive is not sufficient in and of itself to allow the fishes to lose their mortgage money in a compassionate society. Politicians have to consider international competitiveness.Mind you, I didn't say that online poker should be outlawed, due process hopefully determines the outcome. There could even be creative solutions, new professions created (home game supervisor, lol) or home parties with rake-free online play--but not casinos. See my earlier posts on this. I'm just saying it isn't as simple as people make it out to be.That mortician performed a public service to kill himself in a casino. At least his life meant something, and in his line of work he was well informed with these philosophical issues.Okay, back to farting, flaming and foodtalk... proceed.(Yah, that comment about 'now I know I can bring guns to the casino, cool' was pretty funny!)

I'm not against online poker per se, but politicians have to be concerned with the losers in a wayyou would not be. Is that a fair statement?I would agree that Frist went about it the wrong way, for probably the most incorrect reasons. That doesn't make it a nonissue.Next Topic:*********I realize this rant will risk killing a great joke thread, but here goes:Let's look at a milder issue of rake. At least half of us poker players should be concerned about this factor. What have these online companies done that deserve your business and loyalty? Do an inventory.Let's be fair. There is value at FCP. People who are here have good reasons to stay, those who disagree have left. What about partypoker? Would you return there if the legislation gets revoked? What about Stars and FT? What have they done to lobby the government? How have they delivered value to you?Why can people be free to play poker at a lower rake? Why raid home games? To maintain social order? To prevent crime? Why not fix the environment to make home games more viable? safer? whatever it takes instead of this hypocrisy? What does the b&m casino offer poker players? Lousy dealing, lousy crappy decisions, no comps, arrogance, ignorance, ... no comfort, long waitlists, huge 10-20% takes on tournament fees, no food allowed at Canadian tables, wtf? etc.Do you know why you* put up with that crap? because you are too addicted to the action to care; and you laborunder the delusion that you MUST be better than the average player after rake. *(I mean 'you' in the collective sense. If you are massively in the black you can safely ignore this post... lol.)You don't need to send $20 to some poker players' alliance to fix things, vote with your feet.Collectively, go to where the value is or create it yourself. Wake up.I like worldpx.com, and venues that have real overlays; that's just my opinion.P.S. I removed the comment about horseracing lest it obfuscates matters.Okay, proceed with the farting and flaming, just don't engage in intelligent discussion, we're not mature enough. Thank you. Come again.

"If there are any procedural changes that we need to make, then we'll be sure to address those." Like a sign in the Blackjack dealer's break room that reads, 'Don't date Crazies'
