GWCGWC 83
And the Lord's prayer...can't leave that out. I wouldn't mind using the Pledge before the under God part was added. A pledge is way more powerful than an anthem.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
fwiw, I didnt post that because Im a big believer in anthem singing. If that crowd was singing koombaya I would be just as touched.
Dubey 1,035
That anthem was so confusing to me. They get a professional country singer and he shows up and then tells the crowd to sing it? I'm like wtf? Why did they get him. Didn't realize until it was over that it was the US anthem. Then I guess they said the mic wasn't working? Seemed like it was for tv, but possibly not in the rink. So good save, I guess? But once I realized it was the US anthem, I was impressed either way. Mic was fine. That was a weird situation. He clearly intended to have the crowd sing from the start. He only said "Is this thing working?" after the crowd didn't start singing at first. And while I agree it was cool and all that the crowd sang the star spangled banner (they did this in the 2006 playoff run as well, though it was in response to one of the American cities booing the Canadian anthem), it felt kind of manufactured to me. MapleLeafpoker 1,462
in other words. bah humbug! I remember when you used to be the young kid with all the idealistic thoughts, and I was the grumpy old man. you need a trip to Vegas my friend. edit: i did start to wonder if it was all 'manufactured" a little too, mic seemed to be working, but I just dismissed it in my mind. I try hard these days to not look for the the holes in everything, its exhausting and its happier being ignorant some of the time, even if it means being wrong at times and duped into things. I like to think at least 50% of these things are just good things happening without any agendas or malice. Hopefully at least 50%. lol

digitalmonkey 929
If a team chooses not to tag up on a delayed offside then it should be treated like an intentional offside and the faceoff should be in that teams zone.

Winning I didn't see the game but Im guessing your talking about Ottawa If that is the case, the Senators had a front row seat to the experts of this form of play (Rangers) Its amazing how teams don't learn this lesson

Zach6668 513
I wasn't sure because it happened last night. Ottawa chose not to tag up and the faceoff was held just outside the Pens blueline. I noticed too. It happened more than once. Sometimes players skate towards the guy with the puck and they don't bother whistling it down, so I think there's some subjectivity to it. But there were a couple last night that for sure should have been intentional offside.

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Vegas hockey schedule isnt as 'different' as I thought it may be. Not a lot of Sunday games per say, and still a fair amount of Sat nights it looks like. I wrote that, after only checking first 3 months. Then I looked January and on (once NFL is done), and see lots of Sunday afternoon games, and not so many Sat nights for an NHL team. Interesting, I would really love to get there for some games this year. Ok, AHL/FCHL boys, tell me what this all means for us
