That's REALLY unfortunate, especially for Manny... he is an absolutely gem of a nice guy...

There's been a smattering of talk -- considering how hard it was to get players just to wear helmets in the first place -- the league might just have to mandate it.

Mark Recchi better have his head on a swivel for saying the Habs embellished the report of Pacioretty's injury to get influence the suspension decision.http://boston.cbslocal.com/2011/03/23/felg...ens-pacioretty/Jonathan Quick with a pretty crazy save with the knob of his stick that looks like it defied the laws of physics.

I hate to say this, but Im gonna ask. Did Pacioretty really got out to a movie 4 days after the injury? Really?

I remember him Tweeting about things he was doing shortly after the injury, and I was amazed at his recovery time. I didn't at all consider the possibility that the Habs made up, or exaggerated the concussion angle, though.

Maybe it was his pad but something had to put enough spin on the puck to change directions that drastically.quick-supernatural-save-o.gif

Im not gonna get into the details of what was said/what was exaggerated. Im not looking to fight. But I personally was under the impression that his injury was so bad, he wouldnt be able to go to a movie the first week. He might have just watched it at home illegally, but even that is a little suprising considering I thought he also had a severe concussion. And still just speaking my mind, and being honest, I had a conversation with my doctor/physio guy the week the injury happened. He's a Habs fan, and he was pissed Chara wasnt suspended. But when I said its a brutal injury, even he actually said its not quite as severe as some people think, meaning public perception was a possible career ender, and it really wasnt that bad based on the reports. I said something about a broken neck, and he showed me on a chart what his injury was. Most went over my head, but he said "I think hopefully he'll be back in 4-6wks, based on the public info Ive heard". Sure enough, now they are talking playoffs.Im just glad hes ok. Its not like I want the guy to be hurt worse. But it goes to show, sometimes public perception is wrong. That said....Recchi should keep his mouth shut, hes coming off classless. Those radio guys sound like idiots too.

Steven Stamkos has 3 goals in his last 20 games. Not sure why this is, dont really watch them play..There was talk earlier on in the season that he had a slim shot at 50 goals in 50 games...Now it looks like he wont even come close to 50 goals...He is also -13 in those games, bringing his +/- minus back to zero****cue the Stamkos hat trick next game.

This ties into your Cherry rant..Hope you dont get upset and dont take it personally..Why is it that when someones speaks their mind they are classless and idiots?? You go on to point the fact that you sort of agree with Recchi...If people are thinking it why is it so bad if guys like Recchi and Cherry get chastised by articulating the view of many..???

With all the divisional games coming up it just won't happen (Sharks have 8/8 games against Division and 3 vs Coyotes). If not for Calgary blowing lately and only having 6 games left, I'd say it'd probably end up with only 3/5 making it

Im honestly not sure I understand what your asking me. But Ill try to answer:1. Just because your speaking your mind, doesnt mean its classless. Can everything said be excused by "speaking your mind"? I dont believe so personally. If you see a disabled person, and you think, gee, he doesnt seem very smart, and you say it, is that ok because we're all just speaking our mind? Not to me.There is a lot of things in this world that might be factual, but it doesnt mean you go around broadcasting it. Treating people with respect is first. In Recchi's case, you dont talk that way because you have no real idea what the guy is going thru, and your a public figure, in the same league as him. As for the radio guys, just listening to them, I found them in those 10min to be illinformed and obviously trying to goad Recchi into a stupid US vs THEM hockey mentality. I know some of you guys love that stuff, I dont. 2. I dont understand what this has to do with Cherry. But Ill speak to it.....Ok, you like him. I dont. I think he likes to perpetuate violence in hockey. I love the sport, but I can do without fighting and I can do without the old school code that thinks the game would be better with more goonery. Im sorry you dont agree with my viewpoint of Cherry, but I think it would be fairly obvious to most who watch him that he glorifies violence in hockey. I dont care either way that he likes the Leafs (so does Stellick, and I love him!) and I respect how much he does for troops. But I think a lot of kids watch him, and learn from him, and there is a really nasty side to hockey that turns me off it, and he is one of the driving forces behind it.Im not looking to convince you to like him. I dont honestly care. I will be even more honest with you and say that I just think Cherry plays to the lowest denominator in people, selling ra ra ra violence and stupidity. Thats an easy sell to a mass Sorry. Just my opinion. I am curious to hear if you let your son watch Cherry and if he shows a fighting video, what do you say? Im not trying to be an ass, thats an honest question. My son doesnt play hockey, wish he did, but oh well. I take him to games, and when a fight breaks out, I got no good explanation. And frankly, I dont know how a kid doesnt watch that glorification, and then think thats how I get others to like me, by doing what the pro's did. As always, willing to have an honest+real discussion without getting personal if you are. If you want to give me an example of something Cherry says which is just speaking his mind, and yet not degrading to others, Ill certainly listen.

I'm with you on the Cherry thing Arp. I truly respect the loyalty the man has to his country, and the way he gets out in front of soldiers, cops, etc. I also know for sure that he shows up for a brazillion charity events every year, and tries to support everyone. I also respected him as a coach, and even in his early years as a broadcaster. But now... well, I really just don't like the schtick. And coaching kids now, you'd be surprised how many 6 year olds watch Rock em Sock em videos. Why? Because their DADS own them. And whether we realize it or not, that sends a loud and clear message to kids: fighting is GOOD. And I hate that. I fought playing hockey. But I didn't like it. And would rather have played without it. I will say this tho: Cherry is a public figure, and I respect serge's right to like or dislike both cherry and his message. I have no issue with that. I just think personally that cherry is sending the wrong message about 50 percent of the time, and the right message the other 50 percent.

Zach- Thanks! But I already knew that the first time we drank. I like people who can outdrink me, without even trying and still roll with class, 24hrs str8. Or well, without falling down.Dale- I dont have nearly as much patience as you give me credit for. With Serge, like you, I know the good person he is, so I think more about him then what I just read. :club: I try not to let the posts bother me, but he's so good sometimes at pushing my buttons! lol.I know Serge the person, and some of the things he's about, and I respect him a lot based on that. A lot.

Something that I'd like to add, now that I read this, cause Chris makes some good points. I rail against some people at times, ie Cherry, but it doesnt mean I think everything he says is wrong/garbage whatever. I recognize the man knows more about hockey than I will EVER know. And there are many times he has said things that helped me learn more about hockey and understand things I never would have not having played a high level.I just dont agree with a lot of the messages I hear when I watch. Also, I think he was behind the STOP stickers on the back of kids jerseys long ago. Great! And, he has always talked about the icing issue+injuries...and he's been dead right on that too.I dont ever think an issue is black or white, when talking about someone's character/actions.

I think its good to have a good discussion on this Cherry topic, because its a topic that divides many.Arp...I really appreciate your comments and respect what you have wrote..Unlike the other guy(rhymes with WHALE) who just again insulted my intelligence..But thats ok, i can live with that. You and Chris make very good points and I like to address them to the best of my ability.Don Cherry is a Canadian icon for many reasons. There is no greater Canadian IMO than Don Cherry. The man is as proud to be Canadian as anyone can be. The stuff he does with the military, cancer and all this other charities is something that every person should acknowledge and be ashamed to make fun of him...You acknowledge this part of him...When you say some things should be left unsaid, well there is some truth to it...Comparing Cherry and Recchi's comments to making fun of disabled people is really far fetched...Its really far from the actual issues that they are commenting on. You cant agree with 50% of his "schtick" and then belittle the intelligence of his audience..I take that a little personally...Just because I agree with a lot of the things he says, doesnt make me dumb or less smarter than you because you think he is a clown..Sometimes you have to be controversial to be popular...What Recchi said was what you and I were thinking...He said it and I am totally fine with it..It has nothing to do with Montreal, Toronto, French, English or anything to that sort....Of course on here i will tear down anyone that makes a bad word towards Brett Lebda and Ill protect him, but obviously thats all in fun...Is there a line that needs not to be crossed??OF COURSE...If Recchi came out and said, "man there is just too many black people on the Atlanta Thrashers", OF COURSE THIS IS BAD....What Cherry says and what Recchi said are controversial but usually not crossing the line..Maybe I am more tolerant the average person, but thats a personal thing.I am really sick and tired of people getting upset when something negative is said towards Mario Lemieux, Dalai Lama and other highly regarded people...Who cares, its an opinion and its a free country...The fighting issue and as it affects my son..As you guys know my son is heavily involved in hockey. He plays hockey in house leauge..He watches a lot of hockey and he plays in the basement EVERY spare time he gets...He just loves the game...He watches Don Cherry and he watches fighting..Its a tough issue that I m not sure is being dealt the right way...You cannot blame fighting on Don Cherry...Fighting is part of the game...Its part of NHL 11 on XBOX that we play on a daily basis...its there, Don Cherry didnt invent fighting...I dont buy Rock m Sockem videos, nor has he seen it...He knows that fighting is part of the game, however he isnt allowed to fight in his games..He isnt in the NHL, and its illegal in his hockey games...So does he watch fighting? yes he does...Does he enjoy it? maybe to a certain extent..but its part of the game and he knows its not part of HIS game. Speaking of kids, Cherry has done a lot to promote safety in minor hockey. He has initiated plans and initiatives to make sure there are less injuries. He is always talking about how not to play the game , and i have NEVER seen him promote fighting to kids....

Oh Dale! I got it now, I was looking around trying to find a post where someone insulted his intelligence with a username that rhymed with whale and I couldn't find anything. hahaha. So the post where you commented on Arp's patience was an insult directed at serge's intelligence? Really? Ummm...ooook.

Seriously, how do you turn the fact that I have little patience for you into me insulting you?"Rhymes with WHALE" is much more insulting imo.Nobody needs to insult your intelligence, you do a very good job of it yourself.

Little patience hurts my feelings..I have patience for you and invite all your comments...I dont have any hate for anyone...Little patience means i am a bad person, and belittles me..Bottom line, it hurts my intelligence to the point where I even had to contemplate my view on the WHOLE situation.
