GWCGWC 83
dbl postI'll share this random weather update;(:?) it's snowing like a mofo in western Colorado right now.
digitalmonkey 929
So you have to get 2 points to make the playoffs. 1:15 left in OT and there's a face off in your offensive zone. You win the F/O and pull your goalie. Why would you ever have your goalie back on the ice without a stoppage in play? Which is what the rule is preventing. It doesn't matter how badly your shootout record is does it? Why would a team leave an empty net for a 5 on 4 if the ENG would kill their hopes for a playoff spot? Wouldn't this be very -EV?Well it's not -ev if you think you have a better shot at winning with an empty net then in a shootout.
GWCGWC 83
Well it's not -ev if you think you have a better shot at winning with an empty net then in a shootout.Nah, it can still be -EV even with the extra skater. I wouldn't know what percentages to assign each team for the different results. You know, because I DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE FREAKIN RULES!

You know, because I DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE FREAKIN RULES!Assign whatever percentages you want, it doesn't change Dale's statement. He's saying that teams would only do it if they think it is +EV. Of course that's not always (or ever) the case, and that's why we never ever see it. The pulled goalie in ot rule has something to do with protecting the integrity of the game, I'm sure.
digitalmonkey 929
Four original 6 teams still alive.

runthemover 39
if you trip a guy and his stick hits you in the face, is that still a high stick penalty? Apparently the refs didn't think so. Good think too since it would've been a 4 minute penaltyedit: I know they've been around for more than a bit but these "What if" commercials are pretty great

I think the only time it doesn't count is if it's on a follow through off a shot. Other than that, you need to be in control of your stick at all times, and you're responsible for what it hits. SBriand 4
That was a good game. I didn't expect the Wings to win being they just finished the 7 game series and they are on the west coast but being down 3-0 like that and come back and dominate the 2nd period the way they did was good to see. Plus it was much more enjoyable hockey that watching the trappy Yotes.Good to see that Thornton still has a vagina.
runthemover 39
Me4: he keeps going around posting about the Sharks/Wings series.Me3: yeah I saw thatMe: it's like he wants attentionMarcus Camby: anyone got a smoke?Me3: sorry I quitMarcus Camby: damn, thanks anywayMe: This Sharks/Wings series might be goodLoreli Gilmore: Good in a way that has Ester from Sanford and Son killing Lamont.I guess now I know how everyone else feels. either way I love it.Howard kinda sucks so it doesn't matterI was wrong. I'm more impressed with him tonight than I was with Anderson. Anderson stopping a million shots he can see over and over isn't that impressive. different game tonight from the the Sharks, the best faceoff team in the league (well actually they lost 38-32), who played a GREAT possession game (well actually they gave it away 20 times vs 13 giveaways for Detroit (though they did have 14 takeaways to Detroit's 6)). Anyway, to get away from box score stats, the way they played tonight was night and day compared to the first round. Though, I was not that surprised to see "Big" Joe come out flying in the first and disappear mostly in periods two and three.
gobears 0
Get a big lead and hold on for dear life - works for me.Nabby seemed solid (no soft goals) and the second line again made the difference - Pavelski has the start to shoot/pass, delay/settle the puck and shoot trick down pat. Malhotra continues his gritty play and Heatley finally scores a goal. The Sharks also have the two opposing players run into each other and one gets hurt move down pretty well too
coesillian 0
The Pantheres play Tamba Bay, there are 2 minutes left in OT and TB needs 2 points to make the playoffs if Carolina gets at least 1 point. Carolina is playing NJ at the same time and are tied 2-2 with 30 seconds left to play. The TB coach pulls the goalie because there record in the shoot out blows. As they play with the extra attacker in OT, NJ scores to give Carolina a loss and eliminate them from the palyoffs. TB tries to put there goalie back in play but are not allow to until there a play because of some obscure rule.

serge 904
Since we are posting poker hands...I have just started playing $4.40 Rush poker 180 man sit and gos on Full Tilt..I am sort of addicted..Something happened to me yesterday that is hard to ever happen again..First hand I get dealt AA and I stack a guy with QQ..The VERY next hand, I get AA and stack another guy with QQ...Three hands later I get QQ and stack a guy with JJ...The first minute i had like $10000 chip stack..I cruised to the final table, where i got unlucky to get my money in with 77 against 55 and lost...Finished 3rd.The game is so fast, typical tourney lasts about an hour, as opposed to 3hours of a regular one. Once you get down to the final table the tourney plays as a regular tourney..RUSH poker is the bomb..the greatest thing ever invented..
