First time in league history that an 8 seed has come back from 3 games to 1 down. That's probably been brought up before, but hella impressive nonetheless.

pretty awesome that falling ice from that tower forces them to close the streets around it occasionally.I think I refused to walk on the glass floor.

Remember that great 6-5 Sharks - Red Wings "regular season" game last January (or so)? Here's hoping we get six or seven of those. At the least we need four Shark wins. Right?

Uh oh...the wings are in trouble now.Red Wings could be fined for breaking San Jose curfew
My fav lineThe Wings told the paper they weren't aware of the curfew or the potential fine. If they don't successfully fight it, Detroit owner Mike Ilitch will be left with two options: Paying the $2,500 fine or buying the city of San Jose and changing the law. Because we're pretty sure he can afford to do either, or both.cause it is true
Where can I find the playoffs reseeding formula for the different rounds?orHow are the later playoff rounds seeded?
They re-seed each round, highest seed plays the lowest.

Christ I'm the worst at pattern recognition. I know it's the playoffs but my teams out and I have some more questions.rules check:10.4 Broken Stick – Goalkeeper - A goalkeeper may continue to play with a broken stick until a stoppage of play or until he has one legally handed to him by a teammate. The teammate must hand the stick to him. He cannot throw it or slide it to the goalkeeper (this includes situations where the goalkeeper has lost his stick and a teammate is trying to return it to him). For a violation of this rule, a minor penalty for throwing the stick shall be assessed to the offending player (no penalty to the goalkeeper for receiving the stick).A goalkeeper whose stick is broken or illegal may not go to the players’ bench for a replacement but must receive his stick from a teammate. A goalkeeper may participate in the play using a player’s stick until such time as he is legally provided with a replacement goalkeeper’s stick. For an infraction of this rule, a minor penalty shall be imposed on the goalkeeper.Am I remembering this wrong. It doesn't happen often because the puck is usually out of the zone and the camera angle has changed so we don't see the goalkeeper get his stick back. I thought I saw this more than once this season. A goalkeeper loses his stick, another player uses his own stick to slide the goalkeepers stick to the goalkeeper. No penalty.

Also, this has been bothering me for awhile. I can't think of a scenario where a team would pull their goalie in regular season overtime. 74.5 Goalkeeper in Regular Season Overtime - Once the goalkeeper has been removed for an extra attacker in overtime during the Regular season, he must wait for the next stoppage of play before returning to his position. Any attempt by the goalkeeper to return to his position prior to the next stoppage of play (“on the fly”) shall be deemed to be an illegal substitution and a bench minor penalty shall be assessed for having an ineligible player would apply.

The only scenario I can think of is having a face off in the attacking zone with only a sparse few ticks on the clock. Attacking team pulls their goalie for an extra attacker, knowing well that time will run out before the puck could travel the distance of the ice.

I have seen that a few times in the past but it's not very common.

Ohhh, you guys are good. I could totally see pulling a goaltender in OT in this instance. Now think up a scenario that made it necessary for this rule to be in the books.

A team that, at the end of the season, needed the two points for the OT win to make the playoffs. I believe, as well, that if you pull your goalie in OT, and the other team scores, you lose the extra point....

I've seen this before too. My guess is they just don't call it lightly. As in they'd only call it if he slid it over and it had potential to actually affect the play, which is only the case if the puck is still in their defending zone.

This is true. Also, a team that really sucked in shootouts would definitely consider pulling their goalie if they needed two points instead of one.

So you have to get 2 points to make the playoffs. 1:15 left in OT and there's a face off in your offensive zone. You win the F/O and pull your goalie. Why would you ever have your goalie back on the ice without a stoppage in play? Which is what the rule is preventing. It doesn't matter how badly your shootout record is does it? Why would a team leave an empty net for a 5 on 4 if the ENG would kill their hopes for a playoff spot? Wouldn't this be very -EV?
