dEv~ 19
I feel like he always does this.I've seen enough of his games in person to be able to say he definitely does. Generally you won't see ovechkin leave the blue line in the defensive zone unless he goes for a hit. I know his primary responsibility in the defensive zone is the right dman but he's not really hanging out in defensive position, he's just waiting for his team to get him an outlet pass.IMO This is really the main difference between him and Crosby. I know they play different positions but I think it's safe to say Crosby is certainly the better 2 way forward.

strategy 4
Eller, a forward, and Junland, a defenseman, have been recalled and will be with the team for the final two games of the regular season. When asked if both would be in the lineup Friday against Anaheim, Blues President John Davidson sent this text to me: “Coach’s decision big boy.”http://interact.stltoday.com/blogzone/morn...nd-from-peoria/

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Very cool moment in the DAL-ANA game. 5min left, faceoff to come.....and they gave Modano a very long standing ovation, and both teams saluted, and Modano was really overcome with emotion. (ok, he cried a lot)nice to see, man deserves all the accolades.

I think the ref would have been killed if he called it off.

digitalmonkey 929
A little Modano-related story...I walked into a local hock shop a few years back and noticed two jerseys on a rack. One was a Bourque Bruins jersey and the other was a Modano Minnesota North Stars jersey. Both jerseys had a fight strap. I asked the guy how much he wanted for them and he said $40 each. I didn't even waste time haggling and immediately bought the Modano jersey. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the Bruins jersey. I put the Modano jersey on eBay. Bidding went up to $200 very quickly and then stayed there until the final seconds when the bidding got crazy. The final bid was $510 US. Needless to say I was ecstatic because this was back when the US$ was just killing the CDN$. It turns out a guy from Dallas bought the jersey. He actually asked for my phone number and gave me a call to see if I could get the jersey to him in a day or two because he was going to a Dallas game and he wanted to wear it. He gave me an extra $50 to get it to him quicker.Anyway, I used the money to help pay for a trip to Florida to visit the inlaws and do the tourist thing...like swim with dolphins.Congrats on a great career Mr. Modano and thanks for helping me swim with dolphins.BTW, I went back to the hock shop a day or so later and the Bourque jersey was gone. At least I got something back for Benn!Plus, he is years away from really being a top-line talent. Dallas was just desparate.
gruven 530
Interesting Mike Modano story.... about 5 years ago, Modano lost every dime he had ever earned or saved in a fake hollywood movie scam... he essentially invested in a movie that didn't exist. Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavs owner, found out about it and used some 'connections' he had- see: mob- to recover Modano's money for him....
