WestcoastCanuck 0
I'm not finding it anywhere but I could have sworn Rolston was a free agent. Perhaps he has a player option for this year?

digitalmonkey 929
I definitely think Philadelphia will make a play for Briere and probably Timmonen from Nashville. I hope Gainey can recover quickly if Souray and Markov sign elsewhere. Pock from the Rangers and Sarich from Tampa would be a cheaper option and free up some money to improve the offense. Sarich has a big shot but he just doesn't get the opportunities because of Boyle. Brad Stuart is another guy that would ease the pain of losing Souray and/or Markov. I can see Gainey making a deal that includes Perezhogin and Ryder.

digitalmonkey 929
Giguere is going to be the prize of the litter if he hits free agency.Really? What team(s) do you think are looking for a #1 goalie and willing to pay him $4 million+?I think all the quality UFAs (Giguere, Souray, Markov, Briere, Drury, Gomez, etc) are going to cash in bigtime this year. There's just not that much A1 talent available. With the cap expected to increase and teams realizing that one or two quality players could be the difference between not making the playoffs and making a deep run I think the quality UFAs are going to be overpaid. I only know from being a fan of Florida and living in the Boston area, all the rumors are flying a bit too early and the papers make it seem like Gigure is a lock for Boston saying stuff like "He has said that he wouldn't mind changing scenery from California weather to the climate of the east coast." We might end up doing like Ottawa who kept redden but lost Chara, but I wouldn't mind seing Sourray leave.

They have both Thomas and Brown under contract next season and 4 other goalies that are Restricted Free Agents. I would imagine they will ride the storm with Thomas and/or McDonald until Toivonen and/or Rask are ready to step in. I'm sure Giguere is looking for a multi-year contract.Thomas, Tim G Toivonen, Hannu G RFA MacDonald, Joey G RFA Finley, Brian G RFA Sauve, Philippe G RFA Brown, Mike G Florida would definitely make sense. I can see that happening. They may get him at a good price too because as I said I really don't see that many teams interested in plunking down a lot of cash for a goalie. You threaten to leave a few times then you return claiming you've turned over a new leaf yet you continue to antagonize. I can play either way: I can ignore you or I can give it right back. I actually prefer to give it right back but I don't want you to take your ball and run away crying again only to return claiming that everyone is mean to you.

pezeveng 207
The Briere contract will show where the new NHL salary cap is headed. Is 7 mill the max a player can sign for 20% of the total cap?The league should allow 1 franchise player must be drafted by the team, that does not count against the cap this way teams can keep some talent they drafted.I hope Bondra is picked up by a contender Ottawa gave it a shot I think another team should as well. Saw their AHL team last night with those free tickets from that reebok deal a while ago, it was a sad game for the Monarchs with the L.A. GM and sidekicks around in the booths watching. Hextall looked very disappointed. But I did manage to snag a Kings jersey, I'm sure Belanger will be proud.I guess Garon and Cloutier are what they're sticking with? Maybe? hmm. Due to all the goalie injuries, I believe the Kings asked for an exemption so they could call him up without exposing him on waivers but the league denied the request. Yeah, that exemption was denied and I know LaBarbera was pretty upset about it himself, this whole year probably has been tougher on him than he leads on. In other Kings news Johnson will be making his debut tonight, I'm a bit excited and I'm not even a hardcore Kings fan.
doox 15
yup. old serge. I look forward to your next retirement from this site, Mario....As the sole representative from the Penguin camp trolling this thread, I speak for all of us when we say that we take extreme offense to this comment. Any similarity to the trolling career of Serge should never be put in the same sentence as the magnificent career of #66. Aside from being canadian, the similarities and comparisons are respectfully asked to stop there. Thank you for your understanding.

He was rude , anti social and lets not forget he refused to join the Penguins table at the draft. He used to smoke and didnt take care of his body well...I do feel bad for him about the cancer and the injuries though...Gretzky was an ambassador for the game of hockey, Mario not so much... coesillian 0
So stating the fact the Habs made one of the worst signings ever is wrong??Is it not a fact???Did i make it up???was it really all that bad, we tried to give a shot to a player who once had potential to play well with Kovalev, it looked good on paper putting 2 Russian together. i'm not sure what his contract is but he's on the bench now and we wont see him around next year, we took a chance it didn't work out tough break. We're not stuck with a Theodore contract on the bech for a couple years, or invested in a 15 year contract with a goalie, we signed the wrong guy and thats that, now we move on so whatever dude. However, I believe they DID have to replace the hand ropes with electric winches for raising and lowering Mario's number at the arena in Pittsburgh 'cos the rink employees were getting carpal tunnel from having to do it so often....
