serge 904
i dont think there is a chance Marleau is a Leaf as long as Wilson is the coach.
digitalmonkey 929
I don't think Marleau is worth the price he'll be looking for.
Zach6668 513
Just out of curiosity, how worried would either of you be though if a large chunk of your teams payroll was tied to a guy with such a terrible history in pressure situations/playoffs? I love him as a player in the regular season, but hes just not the same in the playoffs, and can sometimes just be brutal. I dont think I want my team to come anywhere near his asking price.Did you watch these playoffs?
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Did you watch these playoffs?Im gonna be totally honest with you, I barely saw SJ games after the first round. I watched against Col, and I think he missed at least one of those too.I saw only the first couple against Det. I faded after that, was out for most of the Chi games. Here the cynic in me........if your gonna tell me he has played really well and busted his ass these playoffs, Im gonna wonder why now in his UFA year, after years and years of disappearing. Has he turned a corner, or did he just play for his next deal, knowing the one knock against him was his absence in playoff games.Whatever he did these playoffs, Im still gonna go with he is going to probably ask for way more than I think a guy like that is worth, if your trying to win a Cup. He'll want #1 C money, and he'll get it, and I will be shocked if he ever leads a team to a Cup as its best player.
Zach6668 513
That's fair, and I don't disagree, but he was pretty good in these playoffs, for the most part.
coesillian 0
I've away from the forum for this awesome Habs run because I don't have an internet connection where I"m staying temporarily. but goddam that was good while it lasted and its too bad I couldn't be here with y'all enjoying Habs fever. The best part of the Habs post season besides getting to the conference finals: Halak. what a stud.
Mercury69 3
Believe it or not, there was a lot of talk, on Landsberg's show on TSN anyway, about whether or not the Habs should keep Halak or Price. I don't think it's that tough a decision, imo. I'd be happier with Halak, although that doesn't mean I'd be unhappy with Price. Neither one was particularly consistent during the reg season, but the way Halak stepped up in the playoffs tips the scales in his favour. What do you folks think?
Derswick 0
I know Halak was not "consistent" during the regular season in that once in a while he'd have a stinker game or to but if you look at his record the Habs were a 106 pt team with him in net and a 68 pt team with Price in net. I don't think you resign Price unless you have a trade for him.

JoeyJoJo 18
The 26 wins vs 13 is a little telling. That might be the least telling stat.I think.Maybe I'm thinking about pitchers won-loss records in baseball and how those don't really tell the whole story.Seems like the same principle though. SBriand 4
Sign both. Keep both. I hope!I would do that if you could. I think over time they should be a good 1A 1B tandem.
digitalmonkey 929
I would do that if you could. I think over time they should be a good 1A 1B tandem. They are both RFAs so I think signing both is a definite option. While Halak's stock certainly went up, Price has very little bargaining power. He's still young so hopefully he realizes he still has some work to do before he earns the BIG raise. Halak is a few years older so hopefully we can get him signed for about 4 years at a price that won't break the bank and is reasonably tradeable in a few years if that's the route we go. The Leafs had a similar problem with Rask and Pogge earlier in their careers...look how that turned out.

The Leafs had a similar problem with Rask and Pogge earlier in their careers...look how that turned out.Halak would be the starting goalie and Price would be used to give him a day off every few days. When/if the day comes when Price has developed into an everyday starter then that's when one of them should be moved. I think Price knows he's not there yet.
Mercury69 3
I'd love to see them both stay. I mean, how many games can you realistically ask a #1 to play anyway? 50 and change? Plus more in the playoffs, assuming the team makes it? That's a lot.Sign 'em both if the price is right...
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I don't think you resign Price unless you have a trade for him.Huh? He's an RFA, what are you suggesting, dont even qualify him unless you got a deal in place?Listen to Dale, hes right. Sign both. Play both. Its a tough spot....you might be trading Price at a heavy discount, never a good move.
