lol..the only player that is responsible for the winning is Halak, and a few goal posts..AND Gainey tried to run Halak out of town..So not sure how you can thank Gainey..
Not sure where you get your info...well actually I'm fairly certain you make it up, but anyway...Gainey identified Halak and A. Kostitsyn as priorities in the summer of 2008 and was able to sign both of them. So, once again, you are wrong. Gainey didn't try to run Halak out of town. He was actually the one who signed him which is why he is playing for Montreal...RIGHT NOW...IN THE SECOND ROUND...AGAINST PITTSBURGH...AFTER ELIMINATING WASHINGTON.Now, let's talk about how Mike Komisarek is doing.

The bolded part is evidently now public. I was not aware. An excerpt from the press conference during the donation pledge....   At Wednesday’s announcement, P.K. was filled with emotion as he talked

This is not the Leafs thread...we don't celebrate every little accomplishment.

Doesn't really matter though. If he creates 5 goals and costs his team 4 goals, he is still more valuable than a super shut down defenseman who never gives up a goal but who never creates a goal for e

You are 100% wrong...2 months ago Halak didnt even want to play for the Habs..Gainey annointed Price as the saviour of the franchise..They didnt even want to play Halak..Until they were forced to as Price couldnt stop a beach ball...

Halak asked for more playing time or for a trade to prove himself...if the reports are to be believed. The Habs gave him more playing time. Looks like a great decision to me.http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=304929

Halak could of easily been traded at the deadline if another team had met Montreals demands. Its not like Montreal was keen on keeping him they just didnt feel a fair offer was on the table. The Gomez trade is still pretty mad IMO....hes getting paid 8 million and is under contract until 2014/15. People didnt say the Gionta trade was bad because hes a bad player, hes arguably not worth 5M now let alone in 3-4 years. All the others are lookin pretty good.

At this point, I think that Jaro has helped our team on the ice," said Gainey. "He's helped himself individually by garnering attention for himself from other teams and, should the right situation arise, both parties will be happy to consider it."It was Gainey's intention to trade him all along..He would of traded him if he didnt "leave"Price was Gainey's guy..Yet another mistake by Gainey...Gomez was a bigger one IMO..

LOL...any player is on the table if the offer is right. Obviously Gainey would have traded Halak if he got a good offer. He didn't get a good offer so he didn't trade him. Seems pretty standard to me. If he was intent on running him out of town as you said then he would have found an offer he liked. Instead, Halak was given the opportunity to show what he could do.

I do not understand the Dominic Moore trade. The guy was on the market for a very long time last summer, signed for only $1.1m after his best season ever. Why didn't Mtl just sign him rather than give up a second rounder at the deadline?Maybe this was already discussed when the trade went down, but I find it slightly absurd that he generated that much of a market after getting (apparently) very little interest in the preseason.I have watched a habs game or two during this run... I do see that he's a pretty big positive force for the team.

He was less of a cap hit when they acquired him. Also, Montreal didn't have the need for him during the summer. Or at least thought they didn't.

I guess what im trying to say is nobody thought/knew he would play this well at any point of his career. I also noticed you neglected to mention the Pouliot trade....juuust saying.

What about the Pouliot trade? They traded Latendresse for Pouliot...how has that been a bad trade?

Selective memory..Latendresse had like a billion goals after he was traded.I am sure Habs fans will agree that , there is only one reason they are doing as well as they are..And thats Halak.Naturally he is part of the team, but the forwards all year have been mediocre , with the exception of Calamari...Plekanec is having a mediocre playoff with only 4 goals..Halak has played exceptionally well....He is by far the MVP and there is no close second IMO..

You were talking about how Habs trades have worked out but didnt mention that one in your original post. I guess you could pick either the fact Latendresse scored 25 goals for the Wild or that him and Pouliot nearly have the same amount of post season points this year and the Wild missed the playoffs.

additional thought: maybe there was always a market, he was just asking way too much over the summer.dominic moore was pretty huge in the few games I half-watched. I don't know what the revenues look like, but if they beat the pens, you can attribute quite a lot of income to that second rounder. I don't know what a second rounder is worth to the habs, though, as they're already pretty profitable.

Well...after the trade...Latendresse25 goals12 assistsPouliot15 goals9 assistsAnd keep in mind that Pouliot was injured when he was traded and missed over a month. Also, would it be better to keep Latendresse and have him not produce or trade him and get something for him even if he starts to produce for another team? I don't think many get this.

Hahahaha...that was a good trade for both teams. Find someone on here beside Serge who doesnt think so. Go ahead.

When the Oilers made in to the cup final as the 8 seed guys like Horcoff and Hemsky were good too....the next year Edmonton was last in the division and havent recovered. Now those guys are just overpaid.EDIT: I realize this has turned into a bashing of Montreal. Just wanna say I like the team, if they were wearing another jersey besides theirs or Ottawa's id be cheering for them. I even hope they beat Pittsburgh (for some reason I just hate Pittsburgh)...maybe it has something to do with cheering for the underdog im not too sure. As long as they dont win the cup go montreal!

i am fairly confident that the Habs are set for a 7-8 year run out of the playoffs.

You seem to be (almost) saying the Habs will make the playoffs for the next 7-8 years. You might actually be right about that one.

Remember habs fans: stretch before rioting, when flipping cars lift with the knees.
I'm surprised you know this...being a fan of such an apathetic and boring team.

Never mind about the riot the following year in Vancouver, after the Canucks lost to the Rangers...At least our guys were happy rioters.
