never played in one and have a question.if you are all-in and go bust, do you get to rebuy during the rebuy period or do you still have to have chips in front of you in order to rebuy?

You can most definitely rebuy if you bust. Thats why the first hour is so crazy, people have no fear. They know if they get busted they can just rebuy and all is well.

It is only a re-buy if you go bust first, hence the re-buying-in. If you still have chips it's an add-on.

I PERSONALLY find these R&A MTT's easier than Freezeouts, because clearly people play much looser, and the prize ends up being much larger in the end, especially for the amount of extremely carefree players.

add- ons are usually at the end of the rebuy period and allowed regardless of chip stack.rebuys can be done at anytime during the rebuy period when you are fall below the starting chip amount or when you bust.Usually you can rebuy when you have the starting chip count to, leading people to rebuy before playing a hand.

You're mistaken, at least in the rebuy tournaments I've played in. Say you start with 2000 chips. You can rebuy anytime you go below 2000 chips during the rebuy tournament. You could rebuy after the first hand, if you wanted to, if you were in the blind or put money in the pot.An add on is paying money for more chips at a certain time (usually after 1-2 levels have been completed, at the end of the rebuy period).

Typically add-on is known as the time when the rebuy period ends. There is usually a short break before the blinds go up and there are no longer rebuys as an option. During that break period is also known as the add-on period which you have that set amount of time to buy more chips. Usually you have to have below a certain amount of chips to be able to take advantage of the addon.Even if you arent busted and you rebuy during the first hour it is still technically a rebuy.

thanks for the replies. i think i might try one. sounds like you have to take a real tight aggresive style the during the rebuy period because of the fearless all-ins that must go on. also seems that the ROI must be huge if you only take an add-on.

Just remember there is a balance. Yes the first hour is nuts and you have to pick your hands and be aggressive when you have the best of it. The flip side is everytime there is a rebuy then there is that much more ammunition/chips at your table aiming at you. I would go on to say there is a point where rebuying doesnt make financial sense, but Daniel rebought 27 times in a $1000 rebuy tourny and ended up finishing 3rd to make like $100,000 or something.
