GABMAD 0
Hey guys. I've set a goal for me to play my first live tourny that is under 1500 dollars in 2007. My considerations are that I'm 19 (I will be when i play it) and that I'd prefer it to be in Canada or in the US so I can drive there. (no point in flying in if it's only a 1500 dollar tourny). It'd be better if it's in canada though. Anyone know of a link that I could go to that lists major tournies/buyin/date/etc.....? Thanks..Also, would anyone want to go play it with me. I thought my brother would do it (he's the only non-online person I know that takes poker seriuosly) but he said he's not going to because he doesn't want to risk that much in live play as he thinks he has tells, which he does, so I guess it's smart. I'm better live than I am online and can control my emotions and I consider myself good at reading people, although, I have not played REAL players who are hard to read.Anyways...any help is appreciated. thx. GetSprung 0
Not true. He can play in the Turning Stone Majors that happen like every three or four months. You only need to be 18 and the events are usually $1500 and draw about 200-300 players. Satellites are really easy. Turningstone.com, check it out.

If thats the case, why dont you play a few small buy-in tournies first to get used to "live feel" and then take some of your milions to go play a $1500 event. Cause even as an experienced on-line tournament player you know, you probably wont win... or even final table. Tournaments are about volume. If occasinally you want to take a shot at a higher buy-in tourney, thats fantastic, but you should be playing what you can manage, financially, for a large number of tournaments. Footballguru 0
the last friday of every month soaring eagle in Mt Pleasent, MI and Casino Windsor both run MTTs. Eagle's varies in buy in, either 220 or 165 US and Windsor's (ive never played) but i beleive is 550$ CAN...ive played the one at the eagle about 4 times, never made it remotely far. Structure is good for first 2 hours, then escalates pretty fast. I would prob play either one with you, let me know.
GABMAD 0
Hey guys. I'm so clueless about live poker tournaments that I didn't think there were tournies under 1k that attracted more than one hundred ppl. I guess I was wrong. But the thing is if I'm playing a 500 or a 200 buy in, I don't want to go through the trouble of getting a rental car, because my parents wont for sure give me their car and that's what I drive all the time. You have to be 25 to get a rental car so my dad will have to rent it and I would have to pay my dad, anyways it'll b tough. My parents might give me the car if it's a couple of hours away. So like the events in Minnesota and stuff would be very hard for me to play. My EV from the tourny is going to be less then how much it would cost me to get there. I guess living in London, Ontario really sucks for the poker scene. Only tournys I can go to are an hour away and they're 50 or 100 dollar buy ins. meh. I'm not sure, and i tried to google it, but I don't know how long of a drive it is from london to minnesota. My guess would be long. And qyayqi, thanks for posting that but I can't play any tournys before May because I still have school then. And I went to the turning stones website and all i could find is the weekly poker schedule. where is the turning stones? As to the guy who told me to play PCA satelites, isn't it a 10000$ buy in if I win the satelite? I don't want to put 25% of my bankroll in a tourny if I have a choice to cash it out, its just simply not smart. I'd rather add it to my bankroll if I win. Sure it'd be an amazing experience but I'm not the kinda person that's going to invest that much into a tourny just yet...i hope in a few years if everything goes as planned, I'll be playing major events all the time.thanks for the help guys. I'd play the windsor one because it's closer. the only thing i'd be worried about is winning and walking out of the casino with the money and then getting shot and robbed. windsor is not a good area, lol. Do they give you a cheque if you win? also, how many players usually enter? I am probably going to go with one of the two. The soaring eagle is like 3 hours drive away if i remember right? Mapquest says 3 hr 50 mins to mt pleasent, so prob 3.5 hours if u drive over speed limit a little

I've heard REALLY bad things about Detroit and bad things about Windsor. But ya, 3.5 hours isn't too bad. I might have to get a rental though, lol, unless I can buy a car b4 that. But I wasn't planning on buying a car until my BR hit 70k. I want a new car, and I want a nice car (20k range). But I'm sure I'll figure something out. I'll talk to my cousin's boyfriend who plays poker as well and see if he wants to play, there's a good chance he might because he's entered a 1k event b4. And if he does, he'll likely have a car. It'd b cool if we got a few of us from FCP to go play in one of the events.

Spend $6K-$9K on a used car to get some driving experience, you will for sure bump it up a bit within a year or 2. In quebec if you spend an extra $5 you can rent a car even if you're under 25, i'm not sure about Ontario.
