Yeah, I'm sick of grinding it out at the Borgata 2/5NL tables. I do fairly well at them and for the most part I'm averaging about $31 dollars an hour. This is estimated over about 500 hours of play. Not a bad part time job at all for a 24 year old. About 15-20 hours a week. Anyway, I just want to be greedy and try playing way out of my limits; skipping the 5/10NL and going straight to the 10/25NL. Any advice on a good starting amount or what the players are like at that level. Min buy in is 2500 at Borgata, or so they tell me. So I figure that about 3500-4000 would be a good start with out totally losing my whole bank roll. Please, no comments about how dumb this is. I know it is, but I want to do it anyway.

i agree. youre basically jumping from the tourist game into the second level of what people who play for a living play. its a stupid move. try out 5/10 first for at lesat a couple sessions, and rail the 10/25 table for a few hours to gauge the play as well before diving in. also, you probably want 5-7k to play that game well

i agree with the others. play a little 5/10 and see how you do!10/25 is getting serious !but if you feel the need, sit and play tight and see what comes your way!best of luckthere is nothing wrong with 31/hr. as a part time job. if ya know you can beat the game why change untill you get a BR you can afford a few bad swings in the 10-25

well, my computers broken so i havent been able to play poker for a week, but I just hope he goes broke because he posts this thread and then tells people not to make any comments about it being stupid when theres really no other comments people can make realistically except that therefore there was no reason for him to make this thread except as a disguised brag that hes going to play 10-25, which is dumb and annoys me

If you continue to use this kind of BR management, you will go busto. This is the reason players go bust...because they either play stakes that don't let them experience longrun fluctuations, play tired, or they suck. If you're good, it's easy to avoid the other 2.It's your life and your money, I wish you luck.

Wow, thanks for the responces from most of you. I'm sorry to hear that that one guy scotty is so jealous that he wants me to go broke. Were you beaten as a child or something that you'd wish misfortune. I told you I knew it was dumb. But you insisted on repeating it. So who is dumb. Maybe you are having a bad day and I am sorry. Did you wake up to find your girlfriend with her head in the toilet passed out? You probably thought it was sexy and took a bunch of polaroids. Vomit all over everywhere, one the walls, in her hair, between her toes. But you just thought it was too sexy to pick her up, wash her hair, and massage her feet huh. You continued to just snap away with your disposable camera. People should be made aware if their short comings... over and over again, until they do something to remedy them. Seriously, I feel as though i went to the store to buy a new white shirt and came home with a frying pan.

huh?where the hell did that come from?anyway, no one can expect to post something like that, admit to it being dumb and insist on doing it anyway, and not expect people to flame and reiterate how dumb it really is.btw, it's not a good idea, but I do hope it works out. It most likely won't, but it's possible.

If you can handle that kind of loss to your roll, good luck to ya. There is nothing wrong with setting a specific amount of your winnings aside and taking a shot outside of your bankroll, however I hope you have the discipline to quit that level if you lose your buy in.

$31/HR in Borgata 2/5 game is like breaking evenplus 10/25 only goes thursday to saturdayi say do it and then post back here with results

What often happens is the worst thing....You win BIG the 1st session! That would be your doom. The (regular) people at this level won't mind donating a little to you (they have 100k+ rolls) and within 2 weeks you're probably broke. THEN you won't be able to step down to 2/5 and grind again because wtf, you beat the big boyz before, right? BAAAAAAAD IDEA!!! With a capital BSweat the 5/10 game for a while and see if you belong. Then try it. Log 500 hours and see if you still make $30+ an hour or rather, at least $60/h+. If not, back to 2/5. There IS a BIG difference btw. 2/5 and 5/10. In 2/5 there is always lots of dead money, in 5/10, not nearly as much. Anything bigger, you only have the occasional rich donk, but everyone else at the table is shooting for that guy. Don't be that guy...
