3 Handed Sng, 2 Get Paid

Recommended Posts

So this is a $4 Tier One SnG on FT. First gets a $26 sattelite token, 2nd gets $10, and 3rd gets nothing. This is the fifth hand that we played three-handed. My image is pretty tight, since I more than doubled up early and pretty much sat back and waited for big hands. Villain is also tight, maybe leaning towards the weak side. There's no need to make a hero call here imo, and it's very likely that villain limped Axs otb. He is showing a lot of strength by pushing on the bubble into the only person that can bust him. I fold, and still have a 2nd place stack.

How do you feel about the bet of 500 on the turn? Do you think I could have gotten the same info by checking?

This is a tough hand to play OOP on the bubble of a sat, but I don't like the lead for 500 on the turn because it looks, and is, weak. You are begging to get raised there by leading for 1/3 of the pot. I think you need to trust your read (that villain is tight, possibly even weak/tight) and give him some credit when he calls on the flop. I feel like c/f on the turn is weak, but I don't like leading for 1/2 the pot, and a probe bet on this board prob isn't a very good idea either, so I think c/f is prob our best option.

I don't like the lead for 500 on the turn either. I would be worried with that A hitting, and since I'm OOP I would have checked. Villian would probably bet at it, and There's your info, and make the lay down. But yeah this is a fold. Or since it's only 4 bucks I might have just pushed on the flop.

Here's my problem. He called the flop bet, which means he has something. If he has an ace, it's either A-K, A-x of spades, or A-A. This guy is pretty tight. What about Q-J or J-10 suited, both of which are possible given my weak turn bet.

Really, anything is possible, but are you willing to risk bubbling with this hand? I would have c/f on the turn, but if you are going to lead the turn, it needs to be around 900. If villain was a loose player, I might be inclined to play this hand a little faster, but given your read that he is tight, you need to let this one go imo.

What we (I) learned:1. My play on the turn was really bad, and the chart looks like this: check>lead for 900>lead for 5002. Tight weak players don't go all in ON THE BUBBLE with weak hands. So I did end up folding, although I still think there is a decent chance he had Q-J or even K-J. I took second for the $10. What really made me think hard about this hand was later on I saw the villain, while three-handed, limp on the button w/ A-K.

Sounds like you probably made a good fold. Glad I was able to provide confirmation that (imo) folding was the right play. It's always nice to get some new blood in strategy, so please feel free to post any hand you have questions on, and give your opinions on hands other people have posted. Welcome!
