Oh Brisco... Poker in Central Florida is a mixed bag at best. There is a card room in Daytona at the track. I have 2 friends who work there and the joke is check or bet $2.00. Everyone bets $2.00, then its call $2.00 or fold. I haven't been, I hear it is not real exciting and that if you play well you will make a little bit of cash but don't expect some big windfall. Everyone pretty much stays in the hand to the very end. You will scratch your head, just don't get suckered into bad play. Here is the link:http://www.dbkennelclub.com/Now... there is also Sun Cruz Casino which I hear is much better but also more expensive. It is usually free to get on, but there are different levels of tables. It is on International waters, so there are not the same restrictions to bets that you have on land. This is also closer to Melbourne, just right down the street at the Cape. I am going this weekend for my first time:http://www.suncruzcasino.com/canaveral.htmBefore poker, I use to go on the Sterling once or twice a year. I love the Sterling. Nice big boat with blackjack, craps, mini bacarat, Caribbean Stud, video poker and lots of slots. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO POKER. If you want to gamble on everything else and you didn;t mind giving up poker, I suggest Sterling.http://www.sterlingcasinolines.com/TERMINAL.htmlHope this helps!:club:

I play on the Sucruz about 3-4 times a month. They spread 5-10 and 10-20 holdem as well as mixed omaha /holdem. They also have a 300 -600 buy in NL game. On Mon/ Weds/Sunday they have a tourney 115 buy in. About 100 to 120 people. The games there are great and dealers are good as well. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good Luck..P.S. avoid the dog track at all costs!!!! It is just aweful

Hey guys. Sorry to hijack but how's the card rooms around Jacksonville. I'm moving there in a couple of weeks and wanted to play some. I've found two in the area: Orange Park Kennel Club and La Cruise Gambling Ship. Anyone know much about either of these places?

All of the para-mutuals have a $2.00 bet limit, so the Jacksonville track will be a simular experience as the Daytona Track or at any of the other poker rooms on land.I haven;t heard anything about the Cruise ship you mentioned. The main thing about the ships is to make sure they are large enough so you don't get quezy from the rocking.

After going back and looking at the kennel website again, I noticed that. That's cheesy. However, they do have 2 $45 buy in nl tournaments a week. No nl ring games worth a crap anywhere on land.

i play in jax quite often at the st johns dog track (www.jaxkennel.com) it's the straight 2, but if you can play disciplined o8, you can make a killing there. often see capped family pots and stuff. suncruz also out of jax, same deal as the daytona. also, the $45 tourneys absolutely suck. i've played in 2, won one of them (30 man) but i vowed to never play in them again. 1000 starting chips, 25/50 blinds more or less doubling every 15 min. plus it's $32+$13. but i LOVE the o8 there.

Im going to have to learn how to play that game. I've only been playing a year so I tried to focus the little time I had on one game, which was nl. o8 seems to be a pretty popular game though. I'm going to have to give it a try. If all of the nl tourneys and ring games suck around that area, I guess I'm out of luck then. 32+13? What a JOKE! I did notice a nl free roll tourney every Sunday on the La Cruise. I'm sure there's a catch though.

I guess everyone in Fl has summed it up, poker in FL isn't very good. But the half day cruises may have higher limit poker on them if you're staying near a port. Don't play in the tournies unless you just want to gamble and try to double up early.

Damn, that sucks. I was really looking forward to working on my live nl game. I guess I'll just stick to the online thing for now. What's straight 2 anyway?
