Strangest Thing Thats Happened To You At A Table?

Recommended Posts

I was just reading the thread about the guy that got punched. Id love to hear some stories of strange behavior. Just last Saturday a friend of mine brought a friend of his to my regular home game. He was already pretty drunk and started drinking right away. We were playing 1/2NL and he bought in for a $100. The first hand he goes broke after a raise/reraise/call preflop, he called a $30 bet on the flop with 10 high, then called an all in after getting a gutshot straight draw, he missed the river and the table just looked at eachother like WHAT THE **** JUST HAPPENED? So now EVERYONE wants to get in a pot with him. After felting about $400 he buys in again and gets in a hand with me. I raise with 910 of hearts and he calls. I make a flush on the turn and he moves in with top pair. I call and hes drawing dead. No one says a word and as Im raking the pot I hear "YA THATS ****ING FUNNY YOU BALD HEADED *****" I didnt know who he was talking about cause #1 I didnt laugh and #2 Im not bald. So he looks me in the eyes and is like "YEAH IM TALKING TO YOU!!" and he storms outside. Im about to go **** him up and my buddy tells me that hes got a gun in the car! Im like OMG LOCK THE ****ING DOOR!!!!!!! He passes out in the yard and my buddy just takes him home. **** was nuts.

That's a pretty funny story. Did you ever figure out if he actually had a gun?
Yeah, my buddy wasnt lying. He said that at another weekly game him and the gun guy play, the gun guy went outside and actually shot into the air after a bad beat. It was out in the boonies (country) so it didnt harm anyone... but still... Id love for him to come back and donate, just without the gun.

After playing in the WPT event at the Mirage, i was playing 1-2 NL there, and directly across from me was one of the drunkest dudes i've ever seen. He was absolutely horrible, just bullying every single pot. I picked up A-8 suited, which was better than 90% of the hands he was showing down, get it all in pre-flop, and of course he had A-9 and wiped me out. After a quick ATM visit, i build up a bit, from 200 to about 400, and raise to $15 with AsKs. He called and we saw a flop including a K and 2 spades. I bet out like $20 and he raises like $50 more. I hollywood for a few seconds, and re-raise all in. He asks how much it is, and i tell him "the rest of your chips" (was about 200 more). He asked what i had, so i told him he could call and find out. He says ok, to which i re-question "you're calling?", and he goes "sure!". I immediately flip over basically the nuts (he had like A7 for no pair, no draw) and the turn and river don't help him. All normal stuff...until the DEALER tells me that i shouldn't take all his money. He told me that it was "unethical" because i took advantage of him, and that it would be bad karma. The whole table agreed that it was a definite call...so i don't know why the dealer had a problem with it.Anyways, after calling the floor...i was awarded the pot, even though the dealer still seemed to have a attitude with me for some reason. Oh, and was it bad karma? A month later was the Tahoe tournament...so i guess not so much.

I love it when the morons you've gone heads up with start getting overly violent, and start abusing you because you hit a straight on the river, beating their two pair...

I was playing 1/3 NL at the excalibur last weekend, there were a few megadonks at my table. One in particular had been playing for 10 hours, was very drunk/tired, and playing erratically. 4 hands in a row, someone would raise to 15, and he would minraise to 30 preflop. On the 4th hand, I picked up AcKc in early position, I raised to 15, one player called, donk reraises to 30, I push all-in for about 200, other guy folds, donk calls, and of course flips over KK. However, the door card was a beautiful Ace. After the flop he gets up and yells (loudly) "SHOW ME YOUR ACE". so I flip my cards over. I usually don't show my cards until the end of the hand in cash game showdowns. At this point the guy points and me and yells "FLIP YOUR CARDS OVER LIKE A MAN MOTHERF**^&^&&^" He then proceeded to storm out of the poker room. He came back a few minutes later, and after getting a stern lecture from the poker manager he sat back down at the table and just acted like nothing had happened (I can't believe he didn't get kicked out, they are freakin' nazi's about language at the excalibur") I actually saw him at the bar later that night (incident happened in the afternoon) and he came over and chatted with me because he recognized me from the game, but he never even mentioned the "incident", lol.On a side note, the poker managers and dealers at the excalibur are ridiculously nitty about language. Seriously, we are in Las Vegas, I could walk down the street with no shirt on, a prostitute on each arm, drinking Jack Daniels straight from the bottle, and nobody would lift an eyebrow, but I drop an F-bomb at the poker table and I've got a guy in a suit giving me a lecture and threatening to kick me out.

This one happened last summer. I've been playing with the same group of guys for years and the two particular guys that got in a fight are practically brothers they are so close. The first guy, mark, who just had a surgery to remove a possible brain tumor which turned out to be benign (sp?) would always take verbal shots at the other player, jack. One night he took the verbal abuse too far so jack gets out of his seat, jumps over the table knocking about $600 in chips all over the floor, dives at mark and tackles him out of the chair and puts him in a headlock. Mind you its been about a week since he's had this surgery and he's still in recovery. He comes to his senses a few seconds later and let's go, however, mark takes a handful of chips and chucks them at his head while grabbing his BOSE headphones on the ground and trying to snap them in half. Jack tries to come at him again, but he is stopped by our friend Mike who is an all american wrestler and ranked in the top 5 in his weight class at ohio state. For a second, Jack decides he is going to try to fight Mike, but realizes the stupidity in that move pretty quickly. All of the craziness subsides and we are left to figure out how to separate the pile of chips on the table and all over the floor. We probably don't get it even close, and proceed to play in awkward silence for the next ten minutes. Finally, Mike breaks the awkward silence by saying, "Jack, did you really think you had a chance of taking me?" and everyone started laughing and the night went on like nothing ever happened.

I was playing $4/$8 at Sam's Town in Tunica when this sloppy drunk old guy (60's or older) sat down to my right and started donking off all of his chips. After a while, he gets into a raising war with another guy. Finally, at the river, the other guy bets into him, drunk guy calls, and the other guy shows him the nuts. Drunk shows me his cards, says "goddam big pairs!", and then tosses his cards into the muck. Funny part: he had no pair and no draw, and some **** hand like 8 high. It was hilarious because he was dead serious.Shortly after that, he got up from his seat for a while and then came back and took the same seat - at another table. He started playing some other guys chips! The other guy came back, and drunk old guy was adamant they were his chips. He was eventually escorted out. It was one of the funnier things I've seen in a casino.

last year my old man bought me into a $2k WSOP event for my bday. at the last minute he decides he is going to play, and he is not very good. the first funny part is that he got seated with sklansky on his left and hoyt corkins on his right. so, a few hours in, just after a break, he returns to his seat and starts playing. all of a sudden i hear an announcement asking my dad to identify himself. turns out he sat down at the wrong table and was playing some other guy's chips. the other guy took a long break and hadn't returned yet. he actually won a pot for the guy taboot, and he didn't win very many pots for himself throughout the tournament. welcome to the WSOP dad!

So I am playing $6-$12 08/b when this hand comes up. It is a limped pot with 5 players in. The flop comes 4 5 8 all hearts. From then on the button is jamming every street. At show down he shows A2 hearts and says nut nut. The rest of the table says nh and muck their cards. The button goes to show his other 2 cards and realizes he only has 3 cards total! The floor is called and rules that the button's hand is dead since it is incomplete. Since everyone else mucked, there is no valid hand at showdown. The pot ends up getting split amongst all the players (including the button) who were in at the river.

This wasn't all that crazy, just kinda gross, and it happened last night. Player in a $1/$2 NL game had a bandaid over his right earlobe and blood slowly started to trickle down his face throughout the session. He had no idea it was happening, and when someone finally pointed it out to him he was going to wipe it away w/ his shirt and hand, and keep playing. None of us wanted this dude's blood/bloody hand all over our chips so the whole table was like, "dude maybe you should go to the bathroom." Bleeding guy responds, "OK, just let me play through my button."

I had AA under the gun in a 1-2NL game, raised to 12, and got 6 callers. Without getting into the hand history, they held up. That's about the strangest thing I've encountered.

2 years ago an old guy at a 4-8 lhe table right in front of ours wins a pretty decent sized pot. He starts reaching out with both hands, pulling in the booty, and when he just about has it all at the rail....HE DROPS DEAD!!!!AND...EVERYONE KEEPS PLAYING!!!!!Weird as hell. His table just looked at him and a few of us finally lay the guy flat, but he was already gone. I ended up leaving the casino cause it just freaked me out too much. :club:

WSOP side cash game. Two entirely way too drunk ppl that had been up for two days playing at our table. They start fighting and eventually one kicks the other out of the room they are sharing. They both continue to sit and play and have no intentions of sitting out. The girl who was now crying hysterically, but still playing, is sitting to my right. She then proceeds to tell me what she has everytime we're in a hand HU and she is betting at the pot. I didn't even have to take her word for it. She'd show me if I folded and if I raised she folded a majority of the time. No one seemed to care, but in lieu of calling the floor on myself, I begged someone to call the floor as the situation was getting quite annoying. They were asked to quiet down or get away from the table to settle it. They decided to shut up and play.
