Some Questions About Limit?

Recommended Posts

I was strictly a no limit player and have built up a decent roll. I have played very little limit online. I will noly be playing live from now on. I have a 3000 bankroll. What limits would I be able to play safely. I know I will have to start at lower limits to get used to the differences of NL.So I guess my ?'s are:1. What limits?2. I play NL at Ceasars mostly. Does any one out here in Vegas have a favorite room for Limit?3. I have SSHE, ne other good books I should read? Thanks for the help.

Standard limit holdem bankroll is 300 BB, so I would play 5/10 live or if you feel like you need to get used to the game a bit play 4/8 or 3/6. If you feel alright risking more play 8/16 or 10/20. Never been to Vegas, but in terms of books if your just gonna be playing live SSHE is the best. Holdem Poker For Advanced Players is good also. More importantly post, read and reply in the limit forums and your game will improve greatly. Welcome to the roller coaster ride that is limit holdem.

Thanks for the response! what would you typically sit down with in a 5/10, 8/16 game?
Usually 25-50 BBs.Doesn't really matter, for the most part.Usually, you'd like to have a minimum of 12 BBs (15 if there is a 5-bet cap), just so you can get max value if you were lucky enough to have the nuts vs a maniac. I guess you'd want even more if there's no cap heads up.However, whatever you sit with, just make sure you have some cash on hand to reload with to always keep above that 12 or 15 BBs, or whatever amount you feel comfortable with.- Zach

Read, re-read and pretty much memorize SSHE. That's really all you need in the beginning. You should probably start out at 3/6 if you haven't played much limit, but you can move up to something like 5/10 or 6/12 pretty quickly once you get the hang of it. Good Luck.
