Avoid Collusions and becoming the top poker player

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, i just want to know how is it possible to avoid collusion with other players as it cannot always be detected... in poker, this is obviously a huge advantage if u are colluding with another player... so i want to know how is this avoided at the professional level? Also, i know Daniel was a native of Toronto like myself, and then moved to vegas... but how did he know he was good enough? Like i have grown up playing all sorts of games (professionally) ranging from pool, chess however when it comes to poker i am a bit lost as i am 16 years old and i dont gamble for 10 000$ if u know what i mean. In the future i do plan to play poker professionally and have read a lot of books and stuff know how to calculate and i do get good results. however i want to know where Daniel would compete in places in Toronto, where they're located at, if they are underground games or what? thanks a lot for reading my post and if u have any suggestions on how a player would become pro, i would GREATLY appreciate it. thanks.

The best way to avoid collusion is to play at a casino. Casinos have measures in place with professionals who are experienced at detecting cheats. This, plus your own eye watching for them, is the best you can possibly do.If you can't play at a casino and I assume you can't since you're 16(I don't know the laws in Canada), there are many sites on the net that give overviews of what sorts of card handling to look for. Also examples of collusion so you know what patterns to look for should someone be secretly revealing their hand to someone else, etc.I would suggest waiting until you are of legal gambling age and then going to a casino.

I honestly think you're less likely to see collusion online actually. It's so much easier for an online site to datamine hand histories than it is for a casino to even begin to suspect collusion it's not funny.

The legal age to gamble in Ontario is 19 (FYI). With this I have two thoughts: 1) Learn all you can in the next 2.x years online and then come to the land based casinos and take em by storm!!! (just let me know who you are so I can sit and marvel - on the rail  )or 2) Set Realisitc goals and play in games you know you can beat. At 16, I assume you can get into some local games as well as play peers for small stakes. Take this knowledge and the 2.x years of playing experience and bring yourself closer to the top. Read bookd, watch DVDs and videos - don't get too anxious. That is one thing new players tend to do. They learn to crawl and then try to pilot a jet airplane. Trust me, I have the monetary scars to prove it from when it happened to me. :-) Either way, I wish you all the best!-- My thoughts on collusion are it can happen anywhere. If you are serious in the game - whether online or live - you can usually get a hunch when you are getting 'played'. Online, report it - as stated earlier it can easily be researched. Give the support team specific hand numbers and odd occurances. I have seen the benefits of reporting it through some friends. They were victims and thought it best to report it. It was researched by the online room and they money they lost that session was completely refunded along with a small additional 'bounty'.Live, report it as well. If the floorman is not as knowledgeable as he/she should be in it, point out EXACTLY what occured and why it concens you. Casinos have every square inch of the place on video multiple times, they can replay the hands. Although they may not be able to see the hole cards , they can see if two players are signalling each other.I'll see you at the final tables of the future!88
