annie duke was right in her comments

Recommended Posts

Basically this is referring to her comments made on the WPT Aruba last night. I noticed a few other posts saying how you should get your hand caught in the cookie jar comment was dumb. I am by no means defending Annie as a whole, but the simple fact is on this particular issue she is beyond right. Her basic point is that you have to be willing to keep on pushing to pick up blinds and antes as a tournament gets into its mid and later stages. If you are not getting caught ever, then quite simply you are not even coming close to raising enough. Look at the best tournament players, Gus Daniel Ivey Layne just to name a few, all these players are consistently picking up pots preflop. Yes you are gonna get caught and most times all it means is you muck, or you call and try to outflop someone to bust their stack. But the simple math of the play is this, if you raise 3x the big blind with antes involved, you only have to win the blinds and antes 1/2 the time to break even. Now, this is gonna work much much more than it will fail.Quite simply, if you never have been caught you are not playing aggressive enough.

i agree about being aggressive. Also this is why im done with this forum...i wonder when people who above grade 6 maturity will realize this and finally leave this site.

I'm not sure about anyone else here but is this guy saying he is or is not above the maturity of someone in the 6th grade?None the less; you're now free to hob nob with the 7th+ graders. Take care.

FYIHey Iveyfan, I chatted with Annie on an UltimateBet seminar last night and asked her who was the more intense player at the poker table; her brother or Phil Ivey. Her response was "Wow, that would be a close one."

It might depend on the game. Not even Barry Greenstein wants to play Phil Ivey heads up at stud and Greenstein's ego probably exceeds Phil Hellmuth's. On the other hand, Howard Lederer is reputed to be one of the best at short-handed limit hold em and pros might prefer Ivey at that game, if forced to choose.
