socalpoker_j 1
We went to Viejas and Barona. We were going to go to Sycuan (dont know if thats how you spell it) but some guy at Viejas said that place sucked so we didnt go.Yeah, Sycuan used to have the bulk of juicier NL games in SD (2/4 NL and 5/10)... but the games have moved to other casinos. PiercE^Bodog 0
well we will be 15 min away from barona so we will try it out
BrantC 0
I just moved out of the San Diego area and basically played at every single place. So maybe this info I give you will help you have a wicked good time in Diego. Here we go:Viejas- Great cheap tournaments that take place at 10am and 6:15pm daily. Buys in vary so check out www.viejas.com to see what the tournament buy-ins are for that particular night or morning. Cash games are good as well. They have limit games up to 20/40 and NL up to 5/5 I believeSycuan- Not the best poker room in the world. In fact I would definitely just skip this one. Used to have good tournaments and decent cash games but now they are a very low limit room peaking out at 2/4NL. It's not that good as I saidBarona- As many others have said its the best in San Diego. You will feel like your in Vegas and plenty of older people with a ton of $$$ and nothing to do with it but hand it to ya. All cash games, Highest limit is 6/12 and highest NL is 5/5Lucky Lady/Palomar Card Rooms- Located on El Cajon Blvd. Pretty decent games but their are some low lifes that call these places home. I've never really felt safe walking out with money after a session but their is ALOT of action and you can walk out of the 1/3NL there with a thousand sometimes(both places). I would play here during the day if anything. Highest limits at Lucky lady are 8/16 and 5/5NL but their are only 6 tables so finding a seat is sometimes hard. Palomar has a 10/20NL and a 20/40 limit game I believe.Ocean's Eleven- Up the 5 right outside the USMC base. I used to go up there ALL the time because of the marine population. They paid my bills out there alot. It's a nice card room and many many different games to choose from. About an hour drive north to get there and I think they have some tourneys in the mornings at 10. If your looking for pretty low stakes try the 1/1NL with a $40 max buy in. It's funHarrah's- Out in the boon docks. I really don't know much about it but I'm pretty sure it's a good poker room. I'm not sure if the WSOP is out there right now or not but you might want to check that out. From San Diego its about an hour and 45 minutes to get therePechanga- Probably the best poker room in the North County. Absolutely huge with 60+ poker tables I believe and great cash and tournament games. If you get a chance it's about an hour and a half from San Diego to the North. I recommend this one definitelyCasino Pauma- Very small poker room only open till 2am. They have a tourney at 4:30pm that is open to the first forty players(they only have 4 tables). Highest limit is 4/8 and they only have a 1/2NL game. Fun if you like picking on the USMC boys. It was the first casino I went to.I think that pretty much covers it all. If you want to know anything else just PM me and if anyone else has anything to add just post it. Hope I helped ya and good luck at the tables!
PiercE^Bodog 0
Thanks for info. One thing i heard is that the drive to barona is kinda bad. dont you have to go down twisty roads and its dangerous somewhat?
pokerinc 0
The drive to Sycuan is the worst. Barona's not so bad. And definitely worth it. Oh, and something important to mention is Sycuan is also a dry casino. So seriously there's just no reason for it. Barona and Viejas are great. If you're just playing cash barona. If some of your boys are really low rollers Viejas is awesome for that, you can spread a lot of different levels and limits and be happy. They have a morning tourney for like 12 bucks, w/ a 5 dollar bounty on every person you knock out. It's an ultra turbo but you should more than break even and even the cheapest of your friends can afford it.Lady Luck and Palomar are just card rooms, pai gow and poker, and I agree w/ the other guy, they're soft as hell but I hate playing there at night, I used to live behind the Lady Luck when I first got to San Diego, and there were a lot of problems, I've jogged to my car a few times. Although, with a few guys it wouldn't be as much of an issue. Have fun, go to the beach, the bars. It's the best city around.

oHiSocietyo 0
By far SD is a great place for some good cheap poker. If you made it out there last week the WSOP was rolling through Harrahs Rincon. Viejas great for the tourny's and Barona great for the cash games. When at Barona tell Joe Hemphill(long haired dealer) aka Jesus Jr, Jason from Omaha says hello. I was a SD Native up until a year and a half ago and I played TONS of tournys at Viejas. CHEAP and good cashin. ENJOY THE PLACE, its hard not to
