I was around Phil a while at last years WSOP. I just thought he acted weird. I sat next to him on a table for about 4 hours. His attention wasn't focused on what was happening at the table. He was always checking out the railbirds to see who might be looking at him. In fact, my wife took some pictures of that table and in every one of the photos he is looking into the camera and smiling real big LOL. He didn't treat anyone bad or act arrogant to anyone, he just seemed a thousand miles from the table and he seemed to get involved with the wrong hands at the wrong time. Other than being weird, he was a nice guy.
Did it bother you that your wife was taking pictures of Phil Gordon while you were right there?Women :club:

I was on the fence with Gordon, until his comment to the dealer on PokerAfterDark. The dealer had made a comment, and Gordon said something along the lines of "Hey, leave the jokes to us, you're not even miked!" It was a joke, but the kind of joke that an asshole would make and find funny. Just the delivery made me cringe. Him and Boyd do less and talk more than anyone out there imo.
I'm not a fan of either, but at least he has a bracelet, Even if he "luckboxed" his way to get it.(that was DN's bracelet that he won)

Have you seen Gordon in anything lately? Like Poker after Dark? The guy is seriously on life tilt. I think it's more likely due to getting booted from CPS than from Rafe winning. If he was bitching and moaning and criticizing like he was on PAD then he deserved the comment.
What the F*ck has Phil Gordan EVER done. On Poker after dark he came across as a REAL Arse. Wish the guy would take is Dot Com money and find an ISLAND somewhere to disappear. For all Hellmuth, Matasow, and Tony G mouthing during a tournament at least they don't seem like jerks away from the table. For Example, Gordon appeared on the reality dating show Blind Date. When he and his lingerie model date, LeAnna, returned to his touring bus, she suddenly mentioned that she had a hot tub in her home, as if to suggest that they make use of it. Gordon proclaimed that he was "allergic" to Hot Tubs, turning her down. A Jerk, and probably gay.

All things considered I think Phil Gordon is a great player... As for all these people jumping on the DN bandwaggon... this is FCP I'm not surprised. However the bias seems a little unreasonable and ignorant.Daniel, you are a drama queen aren't ya? First it was Annie Duke, now Phil Gordon. I probably missed 20 people in between. It's almost like Poker is turning into "pro" wrestling, you're all millionaires, shut the **** up and play.

Are you why Phil is "allergic" to hot tubs with lingerie models in them?

He gets "hot sucker" when he busts out, this isn't all that spectacular. At a WSOP event two years ago he moved all in on a guy with AQ near the money bubble. The guy called him with 10-10 and he blasted the guy for making the call. Telling him that he shouldn't have called because it was close to the money (like $3500 or so)... funny thing is that the guy who called with 10's is worth millions, lol. He didn't care about $3500.
And that, folks -- people who don't care about the money -- is the source of joy, wonder and pain of poker at every level.

For everyone that was wondering who Erik Cajelais is.............. He is a professional player from Montreal. There are no "legal" games here, he has never played internet poker, and anyone who has played in the city knows him by his nickname "THE BODY". He has earned his chops the old fashioned way: late nights, shady places, risk of getting robbed, etc. etc. For all of these reasons, I am pretty sure he wasn't the least bit worried about PHIL Gordon. Many consider Erik to be the best player in Montreal. He has been a regular in every big game that was played in the city. The blinds are usually 5-10 but most of the games are hardly that small. Typical games are about $500 to see a flop and everyone is sitting with 15 - 20 K. He has been cleaning up these games for 2 years. Recently, he is on a sick run in tournaments since November of last year. I think he has cashed in 7 straight major tournies. He is not well known yet but is making a name for himself and is respected by many top pros. (any comments Daniel?) He is absolutely fearless at the table. Keep an eye out for him at this year's WSOP, I am betting that he wins his first bracelet. If Phil Gordon happens to be in his way, it won't look good for PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1 month later...

I absolutely had to chime in on this. I showed up at a charity tourney in Montreal recently and immediately Gavin Smith and Jesus started talking to me about this potential 'fistfight' -Hilarious. After explaining to Gavin that he has me confused with Erik, Ferguson (up on a stage, with me at about his waist) starts showing me what it would look like if Erik and Phil got into it, I took an air shot at his balls, showing him how it would finish.Erik is by far the best player in Montreal, and I guess in the grand scheme of things, that's not a huge feat. But Montreal is a big poker city even though we can't legally play. There were more than 1500 players in the last charity event here. Forget that, Erik's results speak for themselves; he has a WPT bracelet and goes deep in most of the tourneys he plays in. He has recently (past several months) found his groove and is doing extremely well. Now let's talk about the cash games...Erik plays in the biggest games spread wherever he goes, and if he can get into them. When I last showed up in AC, he was already there. He sent me a text at about 3 am saying, "mit me at dee back uv da pokers room" (at least that's how it sounded in my head.).. I found him in a roped off section playing in a shorthanded 50 -100 (biggest spread at the time). Erik and I are close buddies and hadn't seen eachother in a bit, (our thing is to crack the other guy up, usually at the expense of someone else).. he starts introducing me around the table and gets around to Amnon Philipi (sp) and says, "You know dis guy, right?" and whacks him in the nuts! Philippi and I fell on the floor at the same time for different reasons. That's who the guy is! he's a great poker player with a wicked side that normally is hilarious! He drinks so many protein shakes that he can clear an entire room with one SBD. Try sharing a room with him... I go on a week intesive bean diet just to keep up.Bottom line in the poker world:Phil Gordon wrote a book, hosted a show (a very lame one at that), has an obvious issue with his pituitary gland and that's it.Erik has been at it for a much shorter time and has killed it at the cash tables and has fantastic results that keep getting better, he'll play any player at anytime without fear... (Even you Daniel)........ and he can knock the whiny giant the f out - 3 to 1 odds

Are you his publicist? Or Erik himself? If so, I thought the river call with Kx against DeMichele in the 2006 USPC was one of the most underrated of the year.
