New Challenge (old Challenge)

Recommended Posts

Played another short session of 100 hands and made another $377.
It's a pity I just didn't call it a day at that point...*sigh*I ended up playing 3 more sessions, and just could not stop the hemorrhaging. I got tilty and ignored all my own advice.1) Do *not* tilt.2) Do *not* play tired.3) Do *not* bluff calling stations.4) Do *not* call obvious value bets on the river with weak holdings (trying to *snap-off* all those non-existent bluffs)5) If you are viewed as a maniac at the table, do not make anymore *spewy* minus EV loose raises6) Do *NOT* tiltand, most important,7) If you fail to follow rules (1) and (5) and find yourself on tilt, the *get up* from the tables immediatly. DO NOT CHASE YOUR WAY TO EVEN!All in all, after climbing to a high point of +$900 on the day (don't ask me why I didn't quit... I have no explanation) I ended the day -$200 for a wonderful -$1100 swing in a few short hours.Blah! I'm off to bed.

:D Sorry Mark. Nothing feels worse than running bad, and boy don't I know it. I know it will turn around for you bro. My little break from playing is going well btw...been several days now and the other day I found myself in this really weird place....my wife says it's called a ba...back yard? Yeah that's it. A backyard. It's kinda cool really...there is stuff back there that looks like carpet, but it's green and sorta shaggy and coolish feeling. And there are all these stick like structures with little green patches all over that birds like to live in it. Very weird.Anyway, hope your -variance ends soon buddy. :club:

So true. With Mark, he either has the best hand, or will suck out to the best hand.
I"m glad you guys still have confidence in me. I'm going to have to play 1/2NL tonight! Woot!I would fold, unless the guy was a major major donk. His problem was, there was a hand about 10 mins before this where he raised 2 limpers from the sb. He's a good aggro player so I 3bet him with QJo. Flop was J high, check, I bet, he calls, check check turn, he checks river and I time all the way down thinking if I want to value bet but I check it down. He has JTs, and in chat says something like: Really nice 3bet with the old QJo. I said: misclickSo I think he thought I was kind of bad after that hand. But I was just squeezing a guy who I thought was squeezing. And he was.Mark

Well, I've been running bad over the past few days.Down like 7-8 buyins since Saturday. 5 today, lost 2 coinflips and a 60/40 for a BI each, made a couple just bonehead plays too.Did see an interesting play, UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, I raise to 22 with QQ, UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to 98, I shove, he has KK. Limps after a limper with KK. GG me.

So I've wanted to say that, to me, this thread has been like a poker class for cash games. Coupled with the fact that tournaments have just about broken my spirit, as well as my bank roll, I figured let's see if I can't build up through some cash gameaments, and see if I have in fact, really learned something.First hand (see, this thread does work!):PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)saw flop|saw showdownSB ($2.69)Hero ($2.75)UTG ($3)UTG+1 ($1.62)MP1 ($2.11)MP2 ($1.15)MP3 ($8.69)CO ($3.18)Button ($2.94)Preflop: Hero is BB with 7  , 5 :club: . He just didn't know I was going to post in this thread, poor guy. This hand was the first sign of who the sweetheart was, these next two hands were both against him. Here I began to realize he'll call preflop with ATC. Note sweetheart is the button who folded. It was just me noticing him calling both raises preflop that clued me in to him.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)saw flop|saw showdownUTG ($1.58)Hero ($4.65)MP1 ($0.26)MP2 ($1.87)CO ($1.02)Button ($4.77)SB ($3.04)BB ($8.43)Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A :) , K :icon_dance: . 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.09, MP1 raises to $0.26, 2 folds, Button calls $0.26, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.85, Button calls $0.59.Flop: ($1.99) K :club: , 9 :D , 5 :icon_dance:(3 players)Hero bets $1.05, Button folds.Turn: ($3.04) 4 :D(2 players)River: ($3.04) K :)(2 players)Final Pot: $3.04Main Pot: $1.99, won by Hero.Pot 2: $1.05, between Hero and MP1.Villain had J9sIt soon became apparent that sweetheart will call pf with any two, and that he won't bet out unless he has a strong hand, because he was just calling down for the most part. It became obvious to me when he had anything decent he'd bet strong. Everyone else was just sitting and waiting for their aces, so I just was concentrating on this guy. A little while later, I get my hand vs him. When he bet out on the river, I was 99% sure he'd call my shove because of what I had picked up on from him.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)saw flop|saw showdownHero ($4.63)CO ($5.06)Button ($3.12)SB ($3.95)BB ($0.97)UTG ($2.44)Preflop: Hero is MP with K :icon_dance: , K :icon_dance: . 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.09, 1 fold, Button calls $0.09, SB calls $0.08, 1 fold.Flop: ($0.29) 2 :icon_dance: , K :club: , 9 :icon_dance:(3 players)SB checks, Hero bets $0.16, Button folds, SB calls $0.16.Turn: ($0.61) 8 :club:(2 players)SB checks, Hero bets $0.36, SB calls $0.36.River: ($1.33) 2 :club:(2 players)SB bets $0.76, Hero raises to $4.02, SB calls $2.58 (All-In).Final Pot: $8.69Main Pot: $8.01, between Hero and SB.Pot 2: $0.68, returned to Hero.Villain had 52oA good baby step to start.
