"I totally agree with 2+2 having a standard type of automated habitual thought process regarding most situations. In fact they are no longer processes but more like machines giving a predicted response. While this type of playing, as shared by most winning players on this site, will allow anyone to win at a certain level if they learned it, it does not make one the best player they can be. Indeed, better players from higher levels, and those who can switch between different levels and win at all of them, can really exploit the "automated" winning players at any level.Things like "you must never minraise", "you must shove here", "you must 3bet this", and the often-repeated "this is standard, wtf why would you want to do THAT instead" that you see in every thread prove this. Players who write such things, while can be winning players, don't think deeply enough. Sure, if someone's suggesting something without logic then such non-standard suggestions are probably wrong. But you just can't play against someone you don't know for example, and automatically assume he's bad just because he minraised or he called here when he shouldn't have, etc.A truly great player does not sit at a table getting most of his profit from the fish.. it is unreliable, there might be no fish, etc etc. They get their profit from the winning standard/automated players, and I don't mean TAGs or NITs but all kinds including LAGs. They move up a level, learn what the standard play is, exploit that enough to build bankroll to move up another level, learn what the standard players do, exploit them again, and keep moving up. "A good post early in that thread...discussed recently by JC at length and in snippets by DN.

Off topic, but somehow my Packers have learned how to run the football. I am so excited. And I felt the need to express my excitement on a poker forum.I am such a degenerate.....- Mark

They're playing the Bears. Don't get too excited.

Doesn't matter, we could be playing the Girl Scouts' B-Squad and I would still be giddy. We have been that pitiful running the ball. But since it is against the Bears (and of course I am required to despise them), it is great.

I don't play limit but I call. But still, what the hell is he capping turn with other than a set? Can you put him on 9T or 59 after the flop? I dunno, I can't.

9 10 is the most obvious hand for him to have. Double belly buster on the flop.In limit I love multiway pots with hands like that since unlike NL you can't be priced out of your draw the same way in Limit.

vomit inducing roller coaster live 5-150 insanity today. My nephew Zach was out on Teen Challenge furlow so off to Casino Arizona for some football pool donk-a-liciousness.I bought Zach into the 3-6 lhe game for a hundo and I settled into the 5-150 spread limit game.I bought in for 300 and kept adding on as soon as I got down near 100 left. A lag tard lady in seat one had my number all morning and I was second best to the river almost every hand I played with her. I was so gross...and before I knew it I was down 900.Mean while, Zach was just destroying the 3 - 6 game and was up sitting with $240-ish. Nice.I got down to around $100 and went after a VERY loose/cocky young-un with K 10. He was trying his best to over bet every pot and runover the table so. I hit my 10 and went all in and got paid. Then I played 7-8 in Late position, limping, he raised as planned, I call, flop 2 pair, get it all in, turn a boat, and get paid again. I managed to get him a few more times and this guy never changed gears and always paid me off. Before you know it I'm back to near 800, weeeeee. The casino also does a football pool thing, where they give out cards with numbers, If you 2 numbers match the score at the end of each quarter, you win. The numbers are given out randomly and no one knows what the numbers are because they give the cards out face down. If your score is like 14 to 7, and you have 4 and 7, you win 400. if you have the numbers opposite, (7 -4) you only win 200. So I grab a card and it's 7 - 7. WOOT! This means if the score is 17 to 7 or whatever I not only win the 400 but the 200 too. 600!So Green Bay kicks a field goal right before half time and the score ends in 7 -7 and SHIP THE 6-HUNDO! nice. SO couple that with the 800 comeback and I am soon sitting with 1400. yum yum.Then...the hand from hell.Almost immediately following my 600 score, I look down at Ac Qc in the sb. MP1 raises to 25, MP2 calls and I call. Flop is 8c, 5c, Qc (edit:obv. not Qc.... atully think it was the Jack, lol. I suck at hand histories). I check the mother loving nuts, and aggrotard bets 150! LOLOLOLOL!!! MP2 calls!!! I re raise, etc. etc....it all goes in prior to the turn card. This pot is 1800 bucks and I have about 300 left. I'm just praying the board doesn't pair. Turn 3c, river.......3. omg....you've got to be kidding me. MP 1 has a smaller flush, and MP 2 has pocket 5's, obv. and rubs it in with a slow roll. So sickening. I had to take a long walk after that one. 7 hours and I am back to square one. What a ride this day was.I end up grinding it back and finally left dead even, which felt like a victory after everything. Thank God for the football pool, lol.Poker really is so stupid!Mark
