Potsie P 0
100 is the point where people start thinking "I can rep hands and people will fold!!!" Problem is most of them do it in spots where they really are repping nothing. I guarantee Villain thought "That is a scary board for him, I can rep 33, 99, 88, 55, 22, 76, 98!!!" without even thinking that "Oh, I wouldn't play ANY of those hands that way". Only hand that is even in the realm of possibility on the river is 22 but most likely he isn't calling 2 barrels with 22. Unlikely but possibly 76. All other hands are raising the flop or the turn. Gotta love blind aggression.RDog, I love the point you're making here as I confess I've done this very thing with exactly this kind of thinking (most recently in my HU match with specbrad who rightly called with medium pair vs my busted straight draw). That said, I have to ask...why couldn't villain's hand be 33, 88 or 99 as played? To me, the action supports any of those. Call a modest PF raise. Call a CB on a perfect flop. Call a bigger CB on a non-scary turn and reraise/shovel on a useless river card. Care to enlighten a mediocre player on this?
mhoward29 0
I saw a place on food network "diners drive ins and dives" and they were at a pretty popular italian joint in Chicago that made food that was very very good. They said it was like 100yrs old and a landmark. Do you know the name of the place Kurt? It seemed like it wasnt very expensive, maybe 10 a person kinda place.

Care to enlighten a mediocre player on this?Because you really shouldn't be playing 33, 88, 99 like this. That board is pretty drawy so you should be raising that flop pretty much always. Give Villain a set against Bull's KK and have the 7 of hearts roll off on the turn and see how the hand plays out differently. The board rolled out fine in this spot but it is going to be much uglier normally. There are multiple reasons to raise sets on boards like this:1. You would (or definitely should) raise a lot of your draws on this board.2. LOTS of action killers on the turn and river to prevent you from getting paid.3. Some scare cards that may cause you to not put as much money in as you normally would have.4. Just about any hand that would have paid off your river shove EVEN when it rolls out perfect would have stacked off on the flop so only thing you are doing when you wait until the river is allowing him to get away when the board gets ugly. Thanks. #4 makes the most sense to me for sure. With #1, are you saying then that raising on the flop with a set is OK because my opponent would assume I was doing this with a draw and thus call? Or that we're fine with only making a little when we raise and they fold? Both?Maybe this is where the level we're playing at affects these decisions, because at smaller stakes I will more than likely be ripping the hook out of the fish's mouth with a 3x times raise on the flop with a set (assuming of course that i don't KNOW he has an overpair, obv if I did I know, then I know he'll come along ala your #4 point). Because I think at the microstakes, players are still entrenched in the "I raised PF so I must CB" and thus are often C-betting with air. If I flat the flop bet, then I keep them in with the chance they'll CB again with AQs (or even better, hit a pair and bet it on the turn), rather than lose them and their additional bets when I do hit a rare beauty flop like this and raise it up right away. It was awesome.MarkIf you like wine you should do a wine tour. In Oregon we have tons of wineries, like every 3-4 miles so there are companies that will get a small bus (no, not the short bus) and a driver and you can go from winery to winery drinking. Its about $20 per person for the bus and driver and each wine stop costs about $5 and you usually get at least 3 glasses of wine. By the 2nd stop your feeling good if you actually finish all the wine they give you.Good no drinking and driving too.
