Florida Card Rooms

Recommended Posts

I've had to take a leave of absense from school. Since then, I've decided that I should get in touch with my family in Florida more often. I know that there are some card rooms in Florida...I'm going to be mostly in the Jacksonville area when I visit my family. Anyone know anything about the card room that is attatched to the race track there? Just wondering...

A guy I know just got back from a trip to Florida. He said all they had were 1-2 limit hold 'em in racetracks and things like that. I don't know where you play regularly, but I'm used to the 160 table cardroom in Foxwoods, so this would be unbearable for me. The Indian casinos might be different, but as far as I know you might be hard pressed to find good action in Florida.

I live about 20 miles from the track. 1-2 limit or 2-2 limit. They also have SNGs. No way to push anyone off a hand. They will call max bets every hand to the river. It's great if you are catching cards, sux if you are not.

How 'bout good 'ole Georgia, where gambooling is illegal. Only play money poker and house cash tourneys :club:.

The fixed limit $2 law really hurts. Between the rake and the suck outs it can be painful. That being said, it can be profitable given the calling mentality. Be ready for some huge swings with a positive slope. The SNGs have a healthy rake too.Do not go to Florida and plan to play poker.

Was just in Daytona for the 24 hour Rolex race and played in the card room attached to the race track.Mostly Single Table SNG's with a fixed $45 buy in (only $33 goes toward the prize) and it's winner take all.Only Hold Em is $.50/$1 or $1/$2...They also play Daytona Hold Em which is just limit hold em with antes instead of blinds. With the antes the pot will start large and people WILL NOT FOLD.I'm pretty sure most of the "casinos" in Florida will be about this quality. Good Luck

The only way I ever enjoyed playing in the FL cardrooms is by playing 7 card stud with a bunch of old men who could die at any moment. Unlike the holdem games where you are likely to see 5 way showdowns every hand those guy would always call down to the last card then fold it out.

Overall, Florida sucks when it comes to poker. The only thing close to decent are the tourneys at the Hard Rock Casinos (one in Tampa, and one in Ft. Lauderdale)Their multi-table tourneys range from $100 to $1100 buyins, depending on the day of the week. But if you're going to be in Jacksonville, that would be way out of the way for you.

the only good poker in florida is on cruise ships. When I was there I went on a boat called " the ocean jewel" they had nl games. I would try searching for boats that have good poker instead of playing " two dollar action"

I live in Orlando and have traveled around to play about everywhere in the state. This is my expert opinion on poker around here. All games at dogtracks are really bad. tourney structures are really bad and live is 1/2 and 2/2. a complete waste of time.Hardrock Tampa live games are bad 1/2 and 2/2 the single table tourneys are ok (not great) the reason they are decent is they run 24 hrs a day (which is convient)wide range of buy-ins. $120 and $250 and $575 there is a $1000 one but that normally does not have enough players to run all of the time. there are lower buys also.Link below will get you to the multi table schedules for tampa. i am not a fan of there structures but if you get lucky you can get a nice pay day.http://www.hardrockhotelcasinotampa.com/gaming/casino/Hardrock Hollywood same as abovehttp://www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com/gaming/casino/I have been on quite a few of the boats the best by far is Sun Cruz out of Port CanaveralLive games range from 1/3 no limit holdem up to 5/10 no limit holdemalso 5/10 limit and a 5/10 round and round also omaha live gamesthere tourneys are the best this crap hole of a state has to offer.there end of the month tourney is now a sat. for the ME wsop.there weekly wed night tourney has a good structure alsohttp://www.suncruzcasino.com/document_disp...?document_id=75leave the state as soon as you can please.
