Really Easy Way To Save Money And Reduce Carbon Emissions

Recommended Posts

I agree with Daniel that the climate crisis is extrememely dire. We obviously need to curb our emissions and one of the easiest ways to do that is to replace the lightbulbs in our homes with Compact Flourescent light bulbs (CFLs). Standard lightbulbs are extremely ineffecient. They convert only five percent of their energy to light and lose the rest as waste heat. CFLs convert sixty percent of their energy to light and require much less energy to achieve the same brightness. According to this link one CFL bulb will save an average of $38 and 600 pounds of CO2 over its lifetime. I think those numbers are a little exaggerated, but at only about $2.39 a bulb (that was the price at my drugstore) it is obvious that CFLs are economically and environmentally beneficial. Standard Edisonian lightbulbs are outdated, and we need to make the change to energy efficient CFL bulbs today. They can be found anywhere lightbulbs are sold or you can order them online here.
